I have NO idea what you're saying

I have NO idea what you're saying...

And your suit sucks.

Doyoureadme.png - 559x565, 391.74K

I would do heinous unspeakable things to both Sly and Carmelita.

Dimitri was chill. Sly was in the wrong here.

We know Dmitri can succeed without literally counterfeiting money, he manages to do it in relatively short order after Sly 3. All he was doing with the Clockwerk Tailfeathers was fucking himself and the whole Eurozone over by inflating the currency away. It was better for him and everyone else in the long run that he was stopped.

How did they engrave the supposedly indestructible Tailfeathers to print money with them anyway?

So, what exactly does pic related imply?

Is it a normal dog living among dog-men?
An especially retarded dog-man they keep on a leash?
Some hazing ritual?
Is it a fetish thing?

Dogslave.png - 2561x1440, 3.22M

We couldn't even go one post without this?

Just Sly for me, please.

Based, they're both hot as fuck

He was also contributing to spice proliferation, which if the drug parallels hold, is probably addictive. And, consciously or not, contributing to a plan to psychoblast Paris into Crossed for the immortality ritual of a hate-lich. But he cleans up his act pretty well so it's all good

spoiler

Yeah, even for this franchise that bit doesn't make any goddamn sense lol

I sometimes wanna play this series.

It's a feral/anthro exist as contemporaries world
It just works

we will never get a Sly 5

even if we do it won't retcon the Penelope twist

How did they engrave the supposedly indestructible Tailfeathers to print money with them anyway?

The same way the metal aged and turned into rusted junk once a tiny circuitboard was broken. Im sure Sly 5 will go into all the unnesecary details about this.

But when he kills you, he stands up on two legs and bows like he's proud of himself. I know there are both feral rats and rat-people. There are all the normal rats you can squish in the first game, but there are also the rat guards in Paris in 2, and Penelope. There's something fucky about this specific enemy.

Penelope is a mouse, not a rat, you fucking racist

Imagine they make Sly 5.

But the monkey's paw curls.

It's another multiverse plot.

But the only difference between the normal universe and the one the Cooper Gang travels to is that Carmelita is Carmelo.

and the only difference between our Sly and the one in that universe is that the Other Sly is gay for Carmelo.

This makes our Sly extremely uncomfortable, but he learns to get over it, over the course of the game.

If you knew for sure the writing would be as good as the first three games, and they'd undo the character assassination of Penelope, would you accept that?

also Bentley is black

In like, a Steve Urkel way? You can't really rule out that he already is.

Look at the rest of the thread, we both know that's not actually supposed to be a downside.

What would Sly 5 have to change for it to be of the same quality as 2?

So rats and rat people exist at the same time. But there are no mice, just mouse people?

Double down on the original crooked cartoon art style, and render it exactly like the concept art.
Bring back clue bottles.
Add new gadgets.
Don't flanderize the shit out of the characters like Thieves in Time did.
Clown the living fuck out of the Penelope thing from Thieves in Time.
Good minigames.
Take exactly one controller gimmick from the DualSense controller and make the best use of it they possibly can. Don't bother trying to cram in all of them like Astro Bot.

Oh hey, I just finished playing the PS2 games for the first time this month. Great little series, Sly 3 was my personal favorite.

Just do it, all the games are at least mechanically good, and the first three are really good on all fronts. the first game is more like Crash Bandicoot, but the other three are proto-open world games. Thieves in Time is a travesty in terms of writing, especially if you're already invested in the series, though. Play it anyway, because that pain is an intrinsic part of the experience of being a Sly Cooper fan.

Listen to You aren't one of us until you share in our pain.

Have people been replaying the trilogy since 2 and 3 were added to PS Plus in December? Noticing a trend of more Sly threads recently.

While we're at it how the hell aren't any of the Ratchet PS2 games available for download yet? They're streaming only unlike Sly and Jak which are both. Ratchet is the only one Sony still kinda cares about but his games are locked to streaming the buggy HD versions?

I'd like to sometime, it surely can't be that bad, but I don't think my computer can run RPCS3 and I'd rather not rely on streaming it.

Just use PCSX2 for the trilogy. If you have a high end CPU released in the last 7-8 years, you can most likely run the PS3 game.

They haven't rereleased the earlier Ratchet games because they're so tonally different from the weak Johnny Test-ass movie continuity.

The game itself is fine on a mechanical level, the levels are just about as good as they were in 3, and they brought back the clue bottles. But, I can't stress this enough, the story and characterization will piss you the fuck off like nothing else, especially if you waited almost a decade for it like we did.

And the final boss is just a really shitty QTE sequence.

Funny you say that, I kept getting frame drops with Sly 2 and 3 so I had to settle with the PS4 versions. Surprisingly demanding games.

YOU'RE A

3 has superior environments, level design, writing (great banter, character development, having Bentley be disables but not feel hamfisted in any way), and minor gameplay improvements from Sly 2 like smarter guards and Murray and Bentley being able to pickpocket

still mogged in every way by 2 due to removal of clue bottles and treasures meaning there's less of a reason to explore between jobs

4 bringing both back still can't salvage that game because as a trade-off it flounders in everything 3 excelled at with the exception of level design

2 really was the perfect balance even if the writing wasnt as refined as 3. There are still great moments in it regardless.

SHITPOSTIN'

SHARTY PHISHED

2 has better bosses and more memorable levels than 3, but 3 has better minigames and writing

Shame Sony wanted sequel asap , so Sucker Punch had to cut corners to finish a game within a year, if they had one more Sly 3 could be polished. Oh well, Still good three cartoony games.

that one boss fight of Carmelita growing gigantic and you have to climb on her body

based devs

what if Sly climbed inside her pussy haha

remember how demigod Maui died?

theres no cutscene of her bending her butt over looking for clues?

That's true of the whole series.

all those newspaper articles after each chapter which are just "HOT COP WITH COOL BOOBS CAPTURES BAD GUYS"

I wish devs were allowed to be blatantly horny again.

No, but levels like HWTTIH where she's patrolling allow you to get up close and watch that Prime PS2 booty saunter around

N-WORD!

ARR, YOU'VE ALREADY USED THAT INSULT

Please, just talk about the video games for once. I know you care at least a little bit.

Maaaan, are the Anon Babble archives ever coming back? There's so many ancient memes and such I never saved and might never see again
Can't the dude just wipe the no-no pics from the server and put them back up

"I am solely going to focus on this risque posts and act like that's all the talk about in this thread because I am a huge fragile queer how gets tremendously upset everytime such a thing comes up"

Sly 1 = 2 > 3 >>> 4

It's back. Just replace the tld with.dev instead.

oh fug, thanks

Thieves in Time was a travesty that is not canon to the Trilogy

The only way we'll know that for sure is if they make a real Sly 4. Which Astro Bot massively increased the chances of.

So, what exactly does vid related imply?

Is it a normal primate living among primate-men?
An especially retarded primate-man they keep on a leash?
Some hazing ritual?
Is it a fetish thing?

I don't trust anyone but SuckerPunch to make it
My opinions might change after Yōtei gets released tho sdaxs

If this thing kills you, is it going to do a Fortnite dance over your faceless corpse?

I have no reason to believe Ghost of Yotei won't be good.

So far, their first sequel games have been fantastic
Sly 2? great, Infamous 2? One of my all time favorites
But Second Son was such a step back in just about every way that I can't fully put my faith in them

I recently platinumed both Sly 2 and 3 on PS5, fantastic games.

The only way you can have more Sly games without affecting the characterizations is by rebooting the franchise.

Troon protag

Why? At worst, you can do a soft reboot where you play as Sly and Carmelita's son.

That's still a reboot, one that changes the roles of all the main characters of the series up to this point.

where you play as Sly and Carmelita's son

please no

I mean, I'd argue that's more of a sequel than a reboot. A reboot would be starting everything over from scratch — new origins, new lore, etc. Having Sly and Carmelita’s kid take over is more like a next-generation kind of thing, like how Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart teases Rivet and Kit. It keeps the old stuff intact while expanding the story.

You're making me want to replay it again...

A jump and hit the circle button wall run move could be cool to see in the future
What other gimmicks would you include?

What if the story is About Sly's son being raised totally unaware of his Cooper heritage and the Thevious Raccoonus as Sly and Carmelita both work for Interpol.

Sly's son has a natural thieving tendency born into him that Sly and Carmelita can't quite tamp down, and this inevitably leads to his learning the truth.

He feels betrayed, discovering an original Sylvester Cooper in the Thevious Raccoonus and a Sylvester Cooper II, and realizes that his father is Sly Cooper III.

Sly tries to get his son to reject the Cooper name, but the ever present weakness of the law and corruption within Interpol mean that they're all swept up in a new conspiracy with another colorful new gang of criminals, and Sly and Carmelita are powerless to do much about it at all. While Sly's son follows in his silent footsteps to take down the new threat from the other side of the law, forming his own new Cooper Gang in the process.

At every juncture, Sly is desperately trying to talk his son out of it. Having a harder and harder time maintaining his cover each time.

Then at the climax of the story, Sly's true identity is revealed as he steps out of line to sacrifice himself to protect the people he cares about. Sly dies a hero, and his son adopts his rightful name as Sly Cooper IV.

the "twist"

The more you think about it, the less sense it makes.
What were they thinking?

what a good view. but only 3 again because of the open areas with upgrades are fun to fight in

well, maybe they resist repeated usage but can be engraved, kinda like how diamonds are hard as fuck but can be refined and cut with the proper tools

The only established "thing" Penelope had to flanderize her with was the fact that she was a villain in disguise in 3. So they made her one again.

Spoiler

Absolute Kino, anon.

Too bad they'd never do it

I'd assume it's the same as humans and chimps, one harnessed fire so the others get put in cages and experimented on for ealrly drug trials

i mean maybe it's like us and monkeys

I'd take it without hesitation. I refuse to settle for Sly 4 being the end of the series.

ToT is at least quite competent gameplay wise and has good ideas. i liked the ancestors and in a twisted way it made me appreciate the trilogy more. sucker punch has deceptively good writing in all of their games, infamous is also incredibly good

I'm not a furry, but I will be upset if the ending doesnt involve Sly and Carmelita PLAPPing until the heatdeath of the universe destroys everything

My favorite one is this one from the first game

Latin hottie busts big bad voodoo mama!

I'd be inclined to agree with you, but when that enemy kills you, he stands up on two legs and takes a bow like he's proud of himself.

bowwow.png - 287x391, 170.81K

well they can be trained like monkeys too
joke answers aside i always just thought the characters are meant to be humans, they are animals as an artistic choice

not a fortnite dance but they bow

well she was pretty wicked as the black baron
it was still stupid to have her turn for something as petty as "we've got to have money". and penelope should be smart enough to not let leparadox boss her around like that

It's a shame the franchise wasn't super mega popular... but some things come to an end.

i mean they could bring it back with a release on pc

Carmelita Fox should have toes and they should be in my mouth.

Black Baron seems to be a human but of course that's just a costume so it doesn't clear things up

Yeah, it's bittersweet. Part of me is glad Sly didn't get run into the ground with endless sequels like some other franchises, but I still feel like he deserved at least one proper send-off game done right. Maybe someday they'll bring him back with the care he deserves.

i always just thought the characters are meant to be humans, they are animals as an artistic choice

Here's a non-exhaustive list of all the reasons you should have realized that's not the case.

Bentley refers to Sly as a "Master Raccoon Thief" within the first 30 seconds of gameplay.

Carmelita calls Sly both "Raccoon" and "Ringtail"

Raleigh is directly referred to as "Sir Raleigh The Frog"

Sly intuits Muggshot's hideout by saying "Given that he's a Bulldog, it's seems only reasonable to assume that he'd choose to live in a... giant fire hydrant"

Murray refers to the gangsters who challenge him to a race at the hot dog stand as "Gangster Dogs"

Mz. Ruby refers to the turtle Sly rides on in her boss fight as her servant, named Chumley.

She also refers to Sly as a Raccoon when you defeat her

Bentley refers to "Owl Dialect" when talking about the safe you can't open until after you beat Clockwerk

Clockwerk in general

The only one you can even try to identify as figurative is the Panda King, and considering everything else in the game isn't figurative in nature, there's no reason to believe he's the only one who's actually a human being portrayed as an animal out of all the other characters who can't possibly be such.

Sly 3 is the proper send-off for the series. Sly achieves his goal of living up to his familial legacy, realizes it's more of a burden than a blessing, and he lets it end, passing the spoils on to the people he cares most about, as consolation for leaving them behind to be with the woman he loves.

The Black Baron persona was a lie that got out of hand. She basically set Bentley and the Gang up to give her a chance to get away from it. She never wanted to be a criminal, she just wanted to be part of the boys-only dogfighting club because she liked flying planes and wanted to prove herself. She bit off more than she could chew, and was looking for a clean break from it.

I can't believe Sly 4 says he'd give this up just to steal shit again.

The worst part is that there was no need for the game to make Sly "want to do another robbery" when Bentley arrives with the plot like 1 minute later.

I mean, having to live a lie you can never slip up from would get tiring, no matter how good the pussy was.
Imagine being Sly in that situation. Carmelita probably mentions things he was present for or aware of on an extremely regular basis given their rapport and history together. If he displays any recognition, or volunteers information he's not supposed to know, the whole thing gets blown.
How could he not end up getting sick of that?

At best, he could confess the truth to Carmelita and to her alone, who I'm sure would be totally fine with it, right? Even then, they'd just both have to be delicate about it instead of just Sly.

rocket needs a comeback

this except I want Sly to do heinous unspeakable things to me

He really doesn't. Unironically, Astro Bot is exactly what you want already. A cool 3D platformer with interesting gameplay gimmicks.

Imagine curing Sly of his ill-advised oneitis with the power of your dick, and replacing it with just as intense oneitis for (you).
Imagine ending your bloodlines together, yours much less prestigious than his, dumped uselessly into each others' guts.
Imagine being happier than either of you would ever be "fulfilling your duty."

I haven't played 4. Does Sly ever create a cool move to put in the Thievious Racoonus? That moment when he pieces together his dad created a laser slide move and learns and uses it immediately was kino. I think Sly deserves a cool move of his own.

No, that's asking for something good writing wise to come from Sly 4.

His innovation is revealed in 3 as "actually being friends with his crew" Doctor M's bitterness implies it was a theme for the Cooper Clan to treat their closest associates like shit and abandon them with absolutely nothing while they fuck off into retirement in a stately manor, grooming the next heir to do the same.
The Fiendish Five are actually the reason Sly turned out as a good guy.

it hurt playing thieves in time... it hurt even worse seeing the movie trailer where Kevin Miller isn't the voice of Sly and instead is on a podcast with Bentley and Murray saying

please watch the movie, maybe Sly Cooper will get another sequel

also the best part of thieves for me was Steve Blum's racist japanese accent

BENTUREY SAN

haha I love sushi

The absolute dogshit character designs for the movie were worse than the recasting. I was actually scared that shit or something like it would end up seeing the light of day and killing the franchise for good.

Arguably, the charge attacks.

Don't you get a charge attack from one of the safes in Sly 1?
And I kind of get the impression that anything you buy on ThiefNet has to be something someone else came up with first. Maybe it's a technique manual, or a blueprint for a doohickey Bentley builds for you, but Sly didn't come up with it.

Play it anyway, because that pain is an intrinsic part of the experience of being a Sly Cooper fan.

FUCKING WHYYYYYYY?

Hell, there wasn't any real criminal acts going on either. The worst thing Penelope does as the Baron is trying to cheat in the last dogfight. Every bad thing that happens to the gang in that chapter is Mugshot's doing.

None of the Sly 1 powerups are charge attacks.

No, the closest you get is a one-hit attack buff from one of the safes in 2. And in 2 you start with a charged spin attack.

I was under the impression she was also running a kind of criminal empire as the Black Baron, which explains all the connections to the criminal underworld. And I'm sure the dogfighting itself is massively illegal, too.

No, A.C.E.S. is completely legit and everything. Carmelita's there purely because she's hunting down Sly (and Muggshot incidentally), but apart from that the dogfighting competition is all good.

TFW no make out scene between Neyla and Carmelita

Yep, and again, the Baron (Penelope) even tried to keep things fair by 1) Keeping who was fighting who a secret and 2) laying down the rule that no one was to be out past sunset. Again, aside from her cheating gun ships, this was all clean.

You're telling me the Dutch government sanctions live fire deathmatches in rickety old planes over inhabited locations?

Wasn't Neyla supposed to be Rajan's daughter? Why the fuck was Carmelita still working with Interpol after at least two high ranking officials held in high esteem were proven to be Klaww Gang?

Cartoons, bro. This is the setting with a giant robot owl holding the world hostage with a huge death ray.

You're telling me the Dutch government sanctions live fire deathmatches in rickety old planes over inhabited locations?

...Yes. Also, they were fighting over open fields anon.
youtu.be/wDzLLB8eY8k?si=2HI19hYmAZ-3RpvP&t=13768
As for Neyla being Rejan's daughter, that WAS a thing during development but was dropped.

"Rajan was originally designed to be Neyla's father, though this had to be changed to simplify the story.[1] This also explains why they are the same species of tiger." - September 2004 issue of Play Magazine, page 42

That was my first thought when playing as a kid. It'd made sense since she betrays the team in his spice temple, and he has purple stripes which could've hinted their connection

you've always wanted to get closer to her. well, here's your chance

you know what's funny is her voice actor from sly 2 actually appeared on shark tank
she was selling like 3D printed super hero action figures you customize it online then she prints it... but they looked like shit and she didn't get a deal

This era mogs

She can always fall back to running daddy's carpet business...

Karpetking.png - 384x438, 317.37K

Not really
There's no evidence of any wrongdoing whatsoever from competition organizers excluding her using the blimps to cheat (and being shockingly good at fisticuffs). Every guard out at night was there because every other team also tries to cheat and raid each other's hangers. The whole thing was above board except for the hooligans, adrenalin junkies, and overall ne'er-do-wells who participated. It was almost like a hunting lodge type thing and i'm sure it pulled in tons of tourism bucks wherever they held it.

BLACK CLOUDS AND THUNDERBOLTS SOMEONE'S SPILLED COFFEE ON THE RUG

The art for the Sly 2 and 3 scenes is beautiful, they should adapt those comics that came out before the second game.

what's ratchet looking at?

Sly Cooper has never had good game play. The first game in the series comes the closest to anything resembling a fun, challenging game, but the other two might as well be an interactive movie. It took me years to realize how much the story and overall presentation carries this series.

Don't get me wrong, still love the original trilogy to death and will always be down for a binge of the series. But I will no longer try to defend its game play.

I'M THE ANGRIEST MAN WHO EVER LIVED!!!

What makes Thieves in Time.

*cute spunky daughter

I assume you meant to say "What makes Thieves in Time bad."

complete flanderization of every single character

Sly's an asshole

Carmelita is a prop and a whore

Murray is the fat one and that's all he is

Bentley.... exists I guess?

Penelope... I'm still so fucking mad I can't think straight

Sly's ancestors are all letdowns except for maybe Tennesee Kid Cooper

story sucks dick and shits over the great ending that 3 had

villain is a literal fucking who with motivations that don't get revealed until basically right before you fight him at the end of the game

shitty fucking cliffhanger

"...but, as time went on, the old itch came back. And I knew I NEEDED to pull a heist." - This quote from at the very beginning of the game is so fucking wrong on so many levels that it literally was a giant red flag for me the first time I played the game. It immediately tempered my expectations and soured me on the entire premise and the game never recovered from there. Only got worse.

Sly 4 was a fucking travesty. I literally don't even remember the name of a single boss in the game.

This quote from Sly*

Was there any good?

tsundere

sadomasochist

autistic

gurlz.jpg - 850x648, 184.56K

The visual design was pretty good. The levels look really nice and are a decent playground to mess around in. The music is also fucking fantastic and might be the best OST in the series.

youtube.com/watch?v=oET3NMgVfD4
youtube.com/watch?v=TsqU39KvDnM
youtube.com/watch?v=KcYsk0Qh2Xg

And honestly, the actual gameplay itself isn't a far cry from what you find in Sly 2 or 3. The controls feel a bit different, Sly feels a bit less agile, but everything you would expect to be in a Sly Cooper level is there. Unfortunately, Sly Cooper is a series where the story and presentation are absolute king. And Sly 4's story misses the mark so fucking hard it actively makes me question the point of playing the game at all. It's like they actively decided to make the most incorrect decision possible at every turn.

"...but, as time went on, the old itch came back. And I knew I NEEDED to pull a heist."

Why is this bad? It's known that habitual grand thieves have this line of thinking all the time? They love stealing. It's a part of their life. It's a part of Sly's and his family's. Why wouldn't he get the itch again?

Man the air fortress was such a kino level. Too bad Clock-La is so lame compared to the real deal.
Cloclwerk had such incredible presence for how little actual screentime he had. Just his level intro back 1 let you know he was on another level from all the other bosses.

1721182464995.png - 1280x720, 401.95K

Sly literally gave up his life and his family legacy to be with Carmelita. I find it hard to believe that he'd risk his happiness just because he wants to steal something.

It would have made a LOT more fucking sense if they just cut that fucking line altogether and just had Bentley force a meeting with Sly somehow to tell him about the disappearing pages from the Thievious Raccoonus. Then Sly would have a reason to get back into the game other than "lol I just feel like it I guess"

Everyone wants a cute, spunky daughter, bro. It's not that serious.

Where is the good Sly and Carmelita porn at? Asking for myself

Terrible writers who didn't respect the source material. It's basically terrible fanfiction. In fact, I remember reading a Sly 4 fanfiction on Gamefaqs of all places years before Sly 4 was even announced and it was way better than this tripe.

Learn to love the large, anon.

file.png - 746x703, 858.86K

There's really nothing of value to tell.

Sly has never been motivated by some innate urge. Before Sly 1, it's about building up to the point where Sly and the Cooper Gang are prepared to take on the Fiendish Five to reclaim the Thevious Raccoonus
In Sly 1, it's all about that mission.
In Sly 2, Sly is singularly focused on preventing Clockwerk from coming back to life by any means, and is dedicated to preventing Clockwerk's malign technology from being misused, or worse, reverse engineered.
In Sly 3, it's all about restoring and contributing to his familial legacy in the Cooper Vault.

He's never stealing stuff just to steal it, and there's no indication that he has a kleptomaniacal urge. In fact, it's established that he only steals from other "master thieves" because nothing else is a challenge. Meaning everything we do see him stealing has already been stolen by someone else.
The last thing that would happen to Sly is the onset of an inexplicable "itch."

There were a million other ways to get him back in the saddle that wouldn't have gone against what came before.
Maybe his cover with Carmelita is blown. Maybe he reflects on the Cooper legacy and decides he was too rash in giving it up. Maybe he just realizes the world's actually worse off with him on the right side of the law. Maybe he just misses Bentley and Murray that much. But he wouldn't just get an uncontrollable, supernatural urge.

I feel your pain anon but a new Sly would absolutely feature a new female protagonist and it won't be Carmelita. Sly's story is over. Just look at Ratchet with Rivet stealing his spotlight in Rift Apart, though Insomniac was too cowardly to fully commit and remove Ratchet. They knew they'd eat too much shit if they did that but if they COULD have done it and gotten away with it, they would have. Hell look at Sucker Punch themselves with Ghost of Yotei.

Funny enough, the bear character in Sly 4 was way more racist and offensive than Mz. Ruby.

name is just "The Grizz"

God the writers of Sly 4 are such fucking lazy hacks

file.png - 587x589, 435.21K

I've never seen anything but praise for Mz. Ruby and Dr. Facilier as characters.
If anything, I see people complaining that Princess and the Frog didn't have enough of Facilier in it.
And I'm inclined to agree. Instead of being whimsical bayou animals, the other characters in PatF should have been other victims of Facilier, who've gradually grown more and more distant from their human lives. In various stages of forgetting who they were. To add more stakes to Tiana and Naveen's plight, too.

NTA but as someone who advocates for more female anthros in video games, I support a new female protagonist in the Sly Cooper world.

I dunno man. Sounds like classic regret to me, or fear of moving on and change.

People cheat on their spouses all the time with shitty reasons for doing so.

Thieves in Time was also complete fucking ass as far as dedicated fans were concerned. That didn't help.

The only child that can guarantee your blood line lives on is a daughter. Hope this doesn't crush your worldview, sport!

There was absolutely nothing in Sly 1-3 that suggests that Sly would make such a rash, impulsive decision like that. Sly 3's ending felt pretty definitive, ignoring the time machine cliffhanger.

Either way, however you feel about it, it still would have been better story-wise if Sly got back into the game because he NEEDED to, not because he WANTED to. It would have made the dynamic between Sly and Carmelita much more interesting.

And on that note, FUCK the way Sly reacts when Carmelita busts in and the amnesia jig is up. This goes back to my point about flanderization of characters and Sly being an asshole (Sly has NEVER been an asshole)

desu I'm fearful of Ghost of Yotei because Sucker Punch hasn't yet gone the way of ND or Insomniac, and you can't really say they ever put out a truly bad game. Even Second Son was middling at worst.

What? A daughter can die before she has kids of her own, or just as easily have none at all for multiple other reasons. Sure, she can't get cucked and give birth to a child that isn't hers, and unknowingly raise them as if they were, but come on. It's still not nearly guaranteed.

I actually really like the quiet, observant and well spoken vibe Sly had in Sly 1, that kind of went away with Sly 2 and 3.

hnnnnnnng

>Murray is the fat one and that's all he is

that retarded B plot of him being a sadsack about being le useless for no reason in the ice age level just drives me crazy for how out of place it is, even for that game

The reason it's so shit is because Murray was the one who KNEW who he was at the end of 3. He had his depression episode inbetween 2 and 3, found someone to put him on a new path, learned to harmonize that path while still helping his buddies, and completed the training while going into racing with the van he tought was lost. It was his words that prevented Bentley from going down the same path of Dr. M at the end of the game.
youtu.be/wDzLLB8eY8k?si=sGO1qskENQDVYlYV&t=30957
So for Murray to fall back into a depression because he can't climb a fucking wall? It's asinine.

Dmitri is just "the chameleon"

Sly literally gave up who he is to be with Carmelita. And his reaction to her finding out he was lying is to fucking joke about it.

"Call me!"

I almost dropped the game when I heard this and I fucking wish I did.

There's absolutely no way they didn't already fuck before the first game even happened. The rapport is already there from the first time Carmelita appears in Sly 1, and they're already talking about a previous encounter over a "Fire Stone of India."

I still don't know how the lie even works. Sly is a wanted criminal, how the fuck did Carmelita convince Interpol to give him a badge?

This is inaccurate, he should be smiling.

pokemon_snap.webm

NTA but that's something I'm willing to suspend my sense of belief a bit on. I always figured that the people at Interpol know how talented Sly is so in my mind Carmelita probably just had to convince them to let him play for their team. Plus he'd be totally under her watch anyways, not like he'd have any room to do any harm.

It's also canon that Sly has helped Interpol/the police on numerous occasions.

It's like, I get it, this wasn't the OG team, but how could throw shit in the air like this, Murray fat jokes and Penelope going bad and expect not to be ridiculed?
Oh for sure.

If Sly had fucked Penelope's brains out back when she had a crush on him, would she have turned evil?

No but Bentley definitely would have gone the route of Dr M

tfw no Sly and Carmelita buddy cop game

Before Sly 4 came out, I dreamed of a sequel that started out with you playing as Sly/Carmelita working for Interpol. As you got further into the game, Bentley would appear and some kinda shit would go down that would force Sly to do sneaking missions under Carmelita's nose. The game would then alternate mission types between cop missions and thief missions. A bunch of shit happens and it all culminates in a climax where Carmelita finds out about Sly's amnesia, the rendezvous with Bentley, all the jobs he pulled under her nose, and you think that's gonna be the end of the two. Carmelita goes after Sly like old days, only now the two don't enjoy it. In the final hours of the game, Carmelita finds out the reasons why Sly lied, why he pulled the jobs he did while they were together, and forgives him. Then they save the day or some shit, I dunno.

Literally fucking anything other than what we got would have been better.

I imagine it was pretty fucking easy, all things considered.
All she would need to say is "Cooper has been responsible for taking down three different consortiums of major international criminals, including one that had majorly compromised our own operations on a fundamental level. He has retrograde amnesia, but all of his skills remain. He stands to do us a lot of good, and it won't be the end of the world even if he's pulling some trick. There's no downside here."

These games make me feel transgressed and violated.

This, he discovered some serious shit about himself that night in Australia

Back in your cell, Muggshot.

character assassination of penelope

fuck her, how about the character assassination of SLY?

faked amnesia to try and get a clean break from the life of a thief and be with Carmelita

literally gets bored with her after a while, then ties her up and locks her up after she eventually finds out so he can have fun as a thief again

then again, the fact she took advantage of that "amnesia" at all doesn't paint the best picture of her character in the first place
I'm not saying she should have thrown him into super jail regardless, but claiming he was her partner and essentially enlisting into interpol probably wouldn't have been the best method of rehabilitation if the amnesia was genuine
Seems like they're just a bad match for eachother's mental and physical health, despite how horny they get for eachother
"best mistake they ever made" or some such like that, right?

then ties her up and locks her up after she eventually finds out so he can have fun as a thief again

I think you're crossing the streams a little. That sounds like the animated short that was released separately that I think we can assume took place before Sly 3

bondage.webm - 1280x720, 1.63M

I'll floss my teeth with your spine!

How the Hell did this get released in 2013?

yeah, that was the scene I was thinking of, and I did not in fact play thieves in time
still as other anons in this thread have said they really played the main character's literal happy ending some kinda dirty in 4

Man, I really need to replay 1. This music brings back the experience of playing it for the first time. So damn good.

WTF

that boob jiggle

Nice. Shame we can't have this anymore.

Seems like they're just a bad match for eachother's mental and physical health, despite how horny they get for eachother

You said it. I never liked Sly and Carmelita's romance. Always thought it was horrible, up there with Batman and Catwoman's romance. A hero and a criminal can't ever work out. It makes the hero look like an enabler of crime regardless of the context. And in the case of Sly since he's the crook the premise is that he's in love with a woman whose job is to throw him in prison. That's a terrible formula for any love story. And it doesn't help Carmelita has a short angry temper so that's another negative.

I never liked this romance because it can't work. The only way it "works" is if you are willing to damage the characters like Sly legit giving up crime permanently OR Carmelita becoming corrupt enough to allow Sly's criminal activities. Even going half away with Sucker Punch's amnesia didn't help.

If you ask me what Sucker Punch should have done is have Sly mature mentally and realize this woman is not a match for him. Carmelita is a cop and has anger issues someone like that is not going to be good for long term relationships especially matrimony. The only people upset at Sly not being with Carmelita are idiots who insist on "Its the canon romance because Sucker Punch dedicated a LOT of bad writing to make it happen!" Come the fuck on. Whenever I think of Carmelita and Sly together I'm always reminded of that old movie Godfather where the Crime Lord gets dumped by his morally upstanding wife because she could not stand his criminal lifestyle which endangered her. That's what would happen to Sly and Carmelita.

I appreciate that Sanzaru dressed her up like a WHORE even if I'm not a fan of the art style change.

The biggest crime in the series was that they didn't make Black Jack the main theme after paying TSPO to make it for the Japanese marketing of the first game.

This track blows every other song in the series out of the fucking water.

Hahahah

And doing that is a hell of a rarity.

What if they got the studio that did the weird anime opening/ending cutscene remake you can unlock in Sly 1?

I'd like to see a Japanese studio's take on Sly in general

Funny enough, they actually got the original character designer to do a poster for the 20th anniversary a while back.

The idea of Sly Cooper characters looking that hideous is gross.

Frankly, the style of that recent TMNT movie would be leaps and bounds better for this series than the actual Sly Cooper movie they almost made. The worst part of that TMNT movie (visually speaking) was the human characters, and Sly literally doesn't have those. Meanwhile picrel might genuinely be one of the most rancid fucking things I've ever seen.

oh not you again

I really hate that it opens with Sly saying her got "the itch" to steal again. They establish a second later he needs to steal something so he and Bently can solve the time mystery.
So have him be reluctant at the start, it would have made him more sympathetic when Carmelita catches him in the act.

Also the Bob, Murray shit was retarded. Why would Murray try to climb ice after 3 games getting to know his strengths and weaknesses. This ALSO could have worked with 1 small tweak. Show Bob is better at dealing with goons. Have him do his roar in a cutscene that makes the enemys run away, have Bently say "wow we dont even need to fight" cut to Murray dejected.

What the fuck is the obsession studios have with making characters that look like shit? Is it really just because "Realistic textures = More Gooder?"

Why can't they have really pretty 3D animation that looks like the games were always supposed to? Why does it always have to look like ass?

Why does literally everything except what the fucking Minions people make look like it's supposed to piss you off?
