There's are two more great westerns called Once Upon a Time in the West and one called Duck, You Sucker which are really good as well but very slow. His mafia film (Once Upon a Time in America) is arguably the greatest mafia film of all, beating out the Godfather and Goodfellas, but it's VERY slow and not nearly as entertaining as the other two.

When Shadow of the Tomb Raider was coming out, there were articles from Kotaku, Polygon, etc and the like talking about it's historical and cultural influences and praising it for working with consultants and having "respectful depictions" when 99% of the shit in the game is generic made up designs and the Yaaxil are probably the most obscenely stereotypical and laugbably offensive depictions of anything Mesoamerican i've seen. When AOE II DE got made, they went out of their way to alter the North American Indigenous civs for sensitivity reasons, and even European civs got slightly more accurate architecture graphics; meanwhile the dirty, worn, and unpainted Mesoamerican architecture set was left unmodified, as was their units looking like half naked cavemen. Black Panther 2 makes Waknda futurist utopia with African theming, and Talokan, despite supposedly being as advanced as Wakanda, is mostly merely unimpressive, to hippie noble savage one-with-nature stuff stuff where they just ride ocean animals and apocalypto-esque tribal barbarian outfits: Aside from a few elements, most of the Talokanil stuff is less impressive then actual historical Mesoamerican civilizations

I could go on with other examples, but in short Game journalists and cultural critics know just as little about Mesoamerica and Precolumbian history/archeology as anybody else and can't recognized when it's being butchered with inaccurate tropes, and/or don't know/ care because these are seen as "dead civilizations" rather then a modern existing demographics, even though there's over a dozen Mesoamerican languages that still individually have more speakers then every native American language from the US combined do

The lack of pirates pisses me off, but mostly in regards to multiplayer.

There's a few select games out there that I think have already perfectly captured the pirate experience, or are otherwise moddable enough that it's not hard to configure them to be closer in line with what you want. That whole sandbox thing of just being let loose in the caribbean, having basic things like carrying goods/contraband, fighting or capturing ships, building reputation with all the local factions/nations, being able to disembark to explore towns and islands, and of course tons of quests to find treasure and do daring deeds across the waters.

And despite such games being released decades ago, and how simple things could easily be, no one's really made one where you can play it in multiplayer. Doesn't even have to let you split the party, since I know the overworld map can be an issue. Just letting you sail as a fleet or explore and board as a crew would be fantastic.

The same goes for adjacent genres, like Space Truckers (albeit there have been some games in that which have the sandbox and quests) and Merc Company games like Mount and Blade.

I didn't really get into Cyberpunk 2077 when I played it but I appreciate it that as a sci-fi game it actually focuses a LOT on the cultures of different characters and groups as major parts of their identity, with real-world groups. This gang is Haitian, this is a Latino gang, this is a Russian/Slavic gang, this is a white/skinhead gang, this is the Japanese/Korean gang, etc etc etc.

But even the smallest estimates for put it at 50k people, still around the size of the largest cities in Castilian Spain at the time, and most archeologists, including ones specializing in city planning, put it at 200k (a bit under the very biggest European cities)

Given how little about the topic is taught + how bad media depictions are, I don't blame you for being skeptical, but it's inarguable. We're not just going off of 1-2 Spanish sources, but hundreds of in depth accounts and histories from Conquistadors, Friars, people in Europe seeing native art shipped back/put on display there, writings from Mesoamerican scribes and nobles (we litterally have more written in Nahuatl by Aztec authors then we have writings from Ancient Greeks) etc
