Censoring the characters' ages by not translating the lines where they state their ages (e.g. Takumi and Eito both stating that they're 17-years old, Ima saying that he's 15-years old and in his third year of middle school, altering Kako's line of she and Ima not graduating middle school to not solving her first mystery, etc.).

"Heavily butchering Eito's introduction scene."

'Changing Kako's line from "Huh? Start doing it? Once you become a high school student, do you start doing it just like that!?" ("doing it" as in having sex) to the more vulgar "I-Is that true? Is kinky group sex some kind of rite of passage at this academy?!"

'Changing Takemaru's "Go get a sex change so I can beat you up" line to "Go crack your egg", a niche transgender euphemism.'

Opening up a random pirating site with fan TLs is so damn fucking easy they're -at least for manga- forced to do a good job if they don't want to run out of business. Seriously - that's the foundation behind one of these Korean novel translating companies.

I dont read much manga and thus probably havent read much in the way of official translations, but 99% of the manga I have read were fan-translated and everytime it was so disaster-level bad I may as well have just read the original Japanese.

Unless the official TL is absolute garbage or 5 years late no one cares especially for niche series like shit on mangaplus that gets passable, not the best translations and same day release. At most a couple anons post the original pages and what they changed and they move on with their day. Retards like you talking about a whole board as though they all operate on one single braincell is fucking cancer.

Most manga I read have 2-3 groups competing to translate it, and the result of this competition is: if you don't do a good job, you lose. A victor is normally determined around 20-30 chapters in, whereupon from there onwards you're assured it's in good hands. What do you read, anon? Have you ensured it's from the right group?
Also, I do read officially translated stuff, but only after I verify its been internally edited and handled by the Japanese publishers, which is a stance they've frequently been taking. Some groups like viz I do automatically ignore.
You can learn a lot from reading the 'rights & disclaimer' page before any given work instead of merely skipping over it....
