I've been playing 7.62 Hard Life with Give Everybody Guns while Anon Babble was down, it's fun and in that game shotguns are king, even more so for characters that have low aiming skills. smgs are also pretty good

That's the literal opposite of what's true though, Hard Life is poorly translated in English, starts way harder and is less straightforward about what you're supposed to do. Blue Sun Mod + Mercpocalypse in the community patches though I agree.

I don't know how anyone can play Doom 2 and not see this weapon as the absolute gamechanger. Now instead of accidentally gibbing yourself with a rocket, you can take down mid-tier enemies with ease. And if you actually count the pellets and damage per, it has better ammo economy than the basic shotgun

skill issue. if you can land every pellet the enemy will die in one shot. the spread remains tight even at range. the game is built around slow-motion aiming. you have no excuse.

3's was OK but it not doing increased melee damage is criminal

3's was worse than the AR in almost every regard. Slower fire rate, slower bullets, bullet drop. It had barely higher damage per shot when single wielding, but less when dual wielding. But in Reach, they thought it would have been a good idea to keep the exact same properties, except now it can't be dual wielded and it does plasma damage for some reason(resulting in even worse DPS).

Oh, but it does do increased melee damage! The Mauler does, too. It does a whopping 72 points of melee damage... while the regular melee does 70.
Ironically, the Spiker is better in ODST because it keeps the melee damage from regular Halo 3, while the rest of the guns got nerfed by roughly half.

We need a shotgun in a game where the spread is specifically shaped around the silhouette of the most common enemy type when facing point black at them.

This piece of shit that shoots rotten CUM blobs at enemies that sticks on them and when you shoot at these stuck blobs they grow in size then explode.
You would normally expect to, you know in normal game mechanics, go for bigger the blobs to deal most damage but with this abomination of a gun the best way to deal damage is to spread out your shots and hot-glue the enemy before you.
Since I have mentioned damage, it does no fucking damage. You can't head-shot with it, it can't use certain modifiers with it because it is labeled as "area of effect" that has the amazing range of, at most, 3 meters that basically hits no one unless they are kissing, you can't use its critical stats because it has none of nor can you use the status stats of it to burn/bleed/shock/blast/melt enemies because it has none either!
The numbers are genuinely terrible and you have to go out of your way to get like at least 3 damage multiplying buffs going(which can carry an un-modded weapon already on their own) for it to actually kill enemies at high level content where as with any other gun none or 1 is more than enough.
What's the actual worst point on this weapon is that a new player with full of hopes and dreams can get their hands on this massive disappointment of a weapon to be slapped because literal throwing knives or the generic pistol they got at the start of the game was better than it.

The Doom 3 shotgun has way more utility in the game it's in then HL shotgun in its game. Evidence of it being a speedrunners dps machine. If you're running around with the shotgun in HL on Hard trying to out maneuver and dodge hitscanners you'll get owned but that's exactly how you play Doom 3 good. So tell me how it's worse. It's objectively a higher tier weapon.
