People unironically think that Marathon wont be a Concord level flop

People unironically think that Marathon wont be a Concord level flop

The vast majority of people not even bothering to play the game for more than one day in the closed alpha speaks louder than any words possibly could

I think arc raiders will stomp this turns in the gutters because people would be more interested in extraction hell divers than neon fps

I'm one of those 1221 players.

Unironically they would have been better just making a singleplayer nuDoom style shooter using the actual Marathon IP, way less pressure to put another live service out there and people evidently like those types of games to warrant it.

Is the game worth playing as a solo player?

I was skeptical at first before seeing the player count and view count on twitch, but yes, this will absolutely fail. I'm glad that Bugnie is finally getting what they deserve.

t. Destiny addict

All the discourse I see about it on even the most casual corners of the internet is somewhere between expecting it to be a flop or straight up hoping for it to be.
Which goes to show that the TORtanic effect has enlightened the normies and they now find more entertainment in a product flopping than actually engaging with the product itself. In turn it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and I can already see a blooming culture of ordinary people bandwagoning to meme games to death.
It rocks.

TORtanic effect has enlightened the normies

Cyberpunk 2077 launch paved the way. I notice normies started to doompost on games since then.

I don't think sony or bungie understand why people like extraction shooters because it seems like even people who like these kinds of games don't like this one

anyway this genre sucks, every time I look at gameplay of any game in this genre it's like 50% running around picking up literal garbage or basic shit like bullets, 40% camping waiting for some shit to happen and 10% combat
it's crazy to me how so many shooting games now do everything in their power to make you spend less time shooting at people

it's getting 6 million players on Ubi+. trust the plan

closed alpha

all time peak: 7777

OP at least wait until release to shitpost

Just watched the trailer for arc raiders and it looks better than marathon in every possible way

Two answers there:

Truly solo, by yourself

No. You can do rat runs and get out with a meager amount of stuff by going insanely slow and carefully, while still dying probably 1 in 4 runs (more if you play literally anyone that isn't Void) just due to bad luck.

Solo queue fill with randoms

No. It's a complete fuckin gamble if you're going to get complete fuckwits who brought no gear except a pistol that they use to alert the entire map to your position, or maybe two teammates who are worth a shit. And when you lose multiple runs worth of good gear for getting the former, it just sucks - you never want to queue in with anything good unless you have two competent people in a party to do it with. That being said, you can progress to a point where mid-level gear is pretty easy to come by and you don't mind losing it, and when the dice goes your way you can have a pretty nice run.
But overall, no. The game is damn near violently opposed to you playing it without two friends.

It wont be
It will be a huge flop but concord level would be spending hundreds of millions and barely scraping 5 digits together. I think there are enough whales and moron it'll reach six and close in 2 months instead of ten days

I don't think sony or bungie understand why people like extraction shooters because it seems like even people who like these kinds of games don't like this one

That has been exactly the feedback they've been getting from the Tarkov players they've been paying for the past few years. Nobody likes it; tarkov players, destiny players, fps players, etc. But they're pushing it for some reason.

Concord was probably a once in a lifetime flop, but I really can't see Marathon surviving for more than 2 years.

The game is so fun that people that went out of their way to get into the closed beta didn't even bother to return to play the game the next day!

Sure thing bud

free shit

expecting people to stay around

True, I think the first time I really noticed it in full force was No Man's Sky. In any case people just love a trainwreck, and the video game industry is going off the rails one cart at a time.

couldn't even hit 7000

lying about it hitting 7777 for le bungie!!!

holy fuck this game is DOA, troons already made it their personality.

Imagine if this flops and Snoy goes bankrupt

Solo queueing into a random group in an extraction shooter where you have no idea what your teammates will be bringing sounds fucking retarded.

another thread where op just talks to himself while bumping his Arc Raiders thread

I’m tired of this stupid website. Even the 33 threads have that blacked.com and “not true turn based” idiots.

Nyah, they'll just raise prices of their services, games and console with their paypigs lapping it up.

I can sweeten the deal for you here, not only do you not know what gear they're going to have, you can also only have one contract active at a time, so they also probably have a completely different goal than you.

Thinking a $70 price tag will somehow convince players to stick around and play the game more than if it was free

Do you have brain damage?

Eh, It won't be a flop but a small niche playercount which is probably just enough to keep the lights on

Sony isn't going bankrupt any time soon, even if Bungie goes under. They definitely overpaid for Bugnie and will regret buying them but they'll still be around.

Sony paid like $4B for them and Destiny definitely is not making that kind of money anymore.

By this retarded logic, the game will retain 1/6th of its initial player base at launch

So either everyone goes around together to help do everyone elses contracts or they just split up which makes queueing as a group pointless?

Price tag is to keep Brazilians and Chinese out. Guaranteed you’re both of them.

Concord made 170m (40% of budget) back. I bet that is more than AC Shadows or Marathon. Sony needs to cut the shit and do more tax write offs.

Huh? It folded and everyone who ever bought it was refunded. They pissed away $300m on it. Not having to pay taxes of $170m of their income claiming Concord as a loss doesn't count as "making it back." They didn't magically get $170m refunded to their bank account after they shut the game down.

concord sold 25k copies

To be fair, what happens most the time is one person marks a thing and just beelines for it, and the other two of us just follow along because splitting up is almost surefire death. So generally there's cooperation, but it's just happenstance if you get to do the thing you want. If you try to do everything you're traversing around enough that you'll get into probably multiple pvp encounters, and with randos you'll almost definitely be disorganized and out of position, lose initiative, and lose the fight. Also each match has a 25 minute timer, so if you're not moving way too fast and putting yourself at risk, it's hard to get everywhere you need to unless everyone's objectives happen to line up. It's not impossible for things to go well, it's just rare, the definition of rolling the dice.

Concord made 170m

lol

If your implying the pricetag needs to exist to keep cheaters out of the game then the games anticheat will most likely be dogshit and cheaters will just charge more to make up for the pricetag so only regular payers end up getting fucked by the price

I simply cannot tell who this is for

arc raider should be the last nail in it's coffin.
tubers are already liking it much more than maratroon

Cheaters are essentially drug addicts. Price tag is nothing when you’re buying entirely new modems and motherboards to get around bans.

I don’t know how Destiny 2 handled it.

Its for people that enjoy apex legends but wish it played slower and had added extraction shooter mechanics so only people with likeminded friends get to enjoy the game wile everyone else just gets frustrated and end up quitting

They tried to make an extraction shooter that appeals to people who don't play extraction shooters. No surprise when it ends up appealing to neither audience.

That often seems to be the case when a developer tries to double dip its target audiencesz

Didnt the concord beta have similar numbers and on launch didnt even retain 1/5th of those numbers?
this game is gonna get shut down in a week.

Which goes to show that the TORtanic effect has enlightened the normies and they now find more entertainment in a product flopping than actually engaging with the product itself.

It's less that and more universal revulsion at the very concept of taking one of the most artistically ambitious video game series ever made and turning into a fucking live service extraction shooter.

Brand name might be able to carry it but only people who care about Marathon are video essayist who aren't type of people who play extraction shooters
