My very first car was an 89 chevy sprint (what was later rebranded to the geo metro).
It was a dinky little car I could drive from the back seat like hightower in police accademy, but that thing got such good mileage that on more than one occasion I ran out of gas because it was so long between fillups you just didn't think about it ever.

The main issue with older cars is basic maintenance. Change oil, check Transmission fluid, Grease fittings, and that shit.
The parts are cheap on them due to how ubiquitous they are. An alternator for me is less than 30 bucks. They are built to go too if they are old enough. My Oil Pump wore out and I drove it over 150 miles. It quit pumping when I'm idle so red lights are death till I fix it. I cracked one of my Headers and replacing it was still less than 500 bucks. I have people offer to buy it off me all the time so I can sell it and back out to some old man anytime I want.

I'm plannin on buying a new Motorcycle since I can buy a new one for less than 4K.
