Days Gone

I am the only anon on Anon Babble that wants to see a sequel and consistently makes threads about days gone. Please respond to this thread with pictures of your custom motorcycles

The only thing this game has going for it is the art style.
The gameplay is boring as fuck open world slop with unlikable sony characters.
I somehow managed to make it all the way to the wizard island military base before dropping it like a 10 lb bag of steaming hot dog shit on a windy day.

It has the problem of being a very unremarkable third person action game out of many sony third person action games. I don't blame you, I also wish Prototype would get a good reboot but that's ultimately it was also a game that did a few specific things well, the sequel didn't sell 50 million copies with microtransactions like Activision wanted and now the studio is dead and the franchise will likely never get picked up again. Days Gone probably sold enough for a sequel, at least.

I really enjoyed this game, captured escaping from zombies feeling really well. I played on the hardest difficulty with no hud or reticle and it felt really good vs other zombie games with survival elements. I would like a sequel too even though I never finished the story completely. My ps4 broke before I finished but I would have otherwise. I wish they had made you use the slow bike for longer and the tiny gas tank it adds a lot of tension.

Prototype got a pretty immediate sequel though. Guessing you didn't like it? I only remember the first game other than the 2 protag is black.

It's not as good as the first but I still had fun with it. I think Activision was in the period where anything that wasn't either a massive franchise or a multiplayer game was going to survive a release that did just okay. It just sucks since Protoype and Infamous both had a less good entry in the series, they were both were immediately killed off and then nobody made a superhero sandbox game that didn't hold your hand extremely hard the entire way through. SR4 did a poor imitation of prototype in the end.

What exactly is “boring” or “bad” about this game outside of some bugs at launch?

can play stealthy or aggressive

most missions have alternative routes to the objective

can approach situations at long range or up close depending on your playstyle

Can use infected arrows and hit enemies with it from the bushes and watch them chimp out and go after each other in their own camp

the bike is fun to ride and has good weight to it

bike customization is cool

Lots of weapons

Emergent gameplay (random road traps, snipers on the roadways, etc)

can come across different groups battling zombies in the open world

Awesome scenery

nice weather effects

Hordes of 50+ are fun as fuck to take out with the largest being 500+

Survivor mode that eliminates all hud elements

Arcade mode with leaderboards for horde clearing

Proximity & remote mines

The only real complaints I can see are maybe some of the characters are a bit cliche but who gives a shit when it’s a zombie game. It’s a simple story about a biker dude searching for his wife with some later twist.

I would like a sequel too even though I never finished the story completely.

You missed the TWIST at the end f.am

Stopping to fill up on gas always makes me nervous in this game. Can’t tell you how many times I thought I was good to go and some freaker asshole flies up from behind me. The only moments you can relax is when you’re in the safety of a camp.

Ah gotcha I also loved Infamous. Was the one that killed it the one with the girl or whatever? I vaguely remember playing it once.
People shit on the game so bad at launch I think alot of them just echo the same stuff from back then not that anyone talks about this game.
I will finish it whenever I can play it free again, I was genuinely interested in how the story ended thanks for not spoiling it.
Exactly! The running ones were my favorite having something that can keep up with ur bike briefly was super tense.

Based

Is the SMP the best sidearm in the game? I also want to try the auto shotty as a primary but not sure how it’ll do against hordes.

How far did you get in the story?

kino game. the caves in this game are some of the scariest shit I've seen in vidya too
nothing will beat the feeling of accientally falling into a sprawling underground cavern, turn on the flashlight and see a hundred motherfuckers turn their head at you at the same time

Yes, the one you unlock for just killing hordes is.

Yeah coming across a load of them in the darkness is an OH FUCK moment which is magnified when you realize you’re far from your bike with minimal ammo. It happened to me several times in my playthrough.

I liked it. I want an expansion not motorbike races and pointless remaster.

if they actually make to get make a sequel (which is doubtful) it'd better a real syphon filter game instead of just a cocktease.

That company got buttfucked. It's absolutely bullshit and a great case study of how a good to great game gets ignored because it didn't tick enough of the woke selling points.

Precisely what happened. The reviews from major outlets were complete bullshit written by trannoids

Needs drop-in/drop-out co-op so I can grief squeakers by drawing hordes to them.

I want to support them with the new 'DLC' but it's just not worth it for me. I want content and story, not leaderboards and all that.

That would be fun. Maybe make it like watch dogs where you’re disguised as a freaker or npc.

No sequel coming, lead director (I think) is working on Ashfall.

I don't think there is any possibility of getting anything new even with the remaster
Really liked the game, I skipped it for years because open world zombies looked pretty boring. It's very well done though and has the best open world interaction I've ever seen. It was rare to get into a fight that didn't attract the attention of whatever/whoever was in the area wondering around.

Lead director left Sony. I don’t see why the rest of bend can’t do it.

Yeah just bursting into a random fight between groups is asking for trouble. I usually hang around back behind a bolder or tree and watch the chaos from a distance.

There is good stuff here, you just really have to make your own fun because the game is very slow paced. I like trying to use hordes to clear camps and bounty missions. I wish there was more stuff with the camps. delivering survivors to gain specific benefits or access to unique bike parts and weapons. Like you find a survivor with doctor skills and both camps need that but you get to choose who gets him. The game hints at this kind of stuff with the very first mission with the drug delivery but then it never really builds on it. And maybe bad things happen if you just completely ignore one camp.
shotguns suck v the hordes because they are shotguns. long reloads, low magazine cap, low ammo cap, zero penetration. auto shotty is good as a main for mission or just driving around, tho.

I cleared two camps without even fighting because the people at the camp ended up attracting way more than they could chew
Really neat stuff

I never tried leading a horde to the front gates of camp like lost lake. I might experiment later.

That would be a fucking great way to build on the foundations for a sequel. A combination of state of decay camp flexibility and interaction mixed with days gone would be the ultimate zombie game. Imagine your decisions during the game causing entire settlements being wiped out.

Or take it even further and let deek build settlements like fallout 4 using shit you’ve scavenged in the open world.

It’s been confirmed that the game was originally supposed to allow choices that impacted the story.

Has anyone beaten permadeath mode?

I love this game. I would love a sequel instead of this retarded remaster.

Sony probably trying to test the waters for a sequel but then oblivion dropped and fucked it over. All of my favorite games get screwed…Deus ex, Shenmue, days gone, Scarface.

I hated this game for years because of that first reveal vid where it looked like a shooter for people who don't play shooters because the horde filled the screen and shooting any individual freaker or whatever they are called in the toe would kill it and also bikers are scumbags but then I played it and wound up really liking it and all the characters a lot.

On survivor difficulties you almost always have to aim for the head to do any significant damage to them. It makes hordes a nightmare which is fun. The only downside to that is that it also applies to human npcs which causes them to become sponges if you’re not going for straight 1 hit head taps.

Are they just re-releasing the PC port on console or is this a new whatever the fuck for both? The PC version runs and looks phenomenal. I would love to see zombie hordes on next gen hardware. 2k or 3k zombies would be great. The Sawmill horde is just under 1000.

On pc the graphical engine upgrades are free but there’s a paid dlc for a new mode. On the ps5 it’s either $50 or $10 depending on if you own the original and also includes the above. As far as I can tell there’s a complete lighting overhaul, increased fidelity, Dual sense haptic support, new weather effects like snow covering the entire map, speed run mode, horde assault mode, perma death mode, etc.

It's already out

That explains the random update on Steam

no one has posted their motorcycles yet

IMG_0113.jpg - 1920x1180, 927.45K

Yup

Is that the Death Stranding kit?

Based but can’t see the decal. What did you pick?

Don't have any screenshots with my bike.

I'd like to see a sequel but it'll never happen.
Up until I played GOT Days Gone was my favorite Sony game that got a PC port. Story had some weird/dumb twists and turns but I liked Deacon's character and the huge hordes were fun.

I'd like a sequel too, but the story is absolute dogshit

woah, my wife died

No she didn't!

oh yeah, she did, time to move on

3RD FAKE OUT AND NOW SHE ACTS LIKE A COMPLETE CUNT AND DOESN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE ME PRIVATELY

lmao Boozer was a better character, and he was in it for like 20 minutes

Mermaid. There was also a red demoness, but that's lategame.

Is that the Death Stranding kit?

the tank is, i used it because the fuel capacity was pretty enormous

I only played it for a little bit. I enjoyed it at first but then you get to that first settlement and it turns out they went full chop shop on your bike which was a gift and memento and you're just supposed to be grateful for the opportunity to do chores for them and there was no option to murder them so I turned off the game and never went back.

I remember thinking this game was cool but retardedly long, like 50 hours.

You reach Copelands camp like 10 minutes into the game wtf?

this is actually the best part about the story. You start off thinking like boozer, deek's gotta get over it, then you meet nero and oh she's a scientist she's working for them obviously but nero's bad so now she's probably evil but then nope. she actually is probably fucking dead again. you feel like deacon, you just gotta know is she or isn't. The worst part of the story, by far, by millions of miles, is the generic raider faction that just happens to be run by a known character. how that even made it a draft is insanity.

What's the verdict for the recent DLC/remaster update on PC? Is it worth breaking mods for if I don't care about the new play modes?

how about the cringe dialogue and unskippable scenes with the wife, theyre so god awful

You can skip those now. You can skip every cutscene all dialog if you want.

I don’t even know if it breaks mods since I don’t have any but I think it’s worth it just for the darker nights alone.

Its very repetitive

new update is worthless as others have said there is no new meaningful content just a polish and some game modes. i wouldnt even bother

Bump

is retarded in your path

IMG_0109.jpg - 1290x1259, 675.5K

He did own up to it and also paid the ultimate price

Have some goddamn faith Deek

Mike was cool Tucker was a complete cunt and Cope was right about everything

thats good then, still wont bother with this remaster tho, did enjoy the game despite the shit i hate about it but this new update seems really barebones

I mean it’s a miracle we’re even getting anything at all and it’s a free graphics upgrade on pc.

IF they decide to make a sequel where do you think it would take place? Portland?

I beat the sawmill horde on first try.

Congrats it’s pretty tough on a first try, which difficulty?

I made peace with the death cult, just ask my 2nd...scitzo

They’re going to make a sequel but it’s going to completely fucking monkey paw us by making it a female butch protagonist

At that point in the game you have pretty much unlocked all the good shit.
What I like to do is trying to fight hordes with hobo gear right after the start.

they should probably head up north, taking it south to cali would be boring imo, or maybe they go deep south across the border to mehico might be interesting depending how they tie in the story

knew the location of an antibiotic stockpile for years and never got it until deek shows up

knew the location of a bunch of dynamite for years and never got it until deek shows up

Makes an unholy treaty with a bunch of bald psychopathic cult members addicted to bath salts and expected it to go well

right hand man is a wanna be wigger named SCHIZO

IRON MIKE EVERYONE

Not in today's current political climate. Had they made a sequel 2019 - 2024, sure.
But if they start on the next game now, no way they're gonna wokefy it. Sony and the entire industry learned a hard lesson in 2024. Look at Deadlock, reskinning characters to make them pretty.
Even Overwatch has been focusing on aesthetic appeal lately.

Kino thread. Nice to see everywhere here discussing the gameplay and what they liked & didn’t like about the game.

I love it when games feel like they contain the sequel to themselves. Everything after crossing the mountain south felt like a second game

post apocalyptic Mexican cartel camps

fuck

How about Vegas and the surrounding area?

Vegas strip is small enough to replicate for scale

Meth addicts everywhere

Area 51

Nero sites in the desert

Hobo sewer camps

gambling

I hope so anon but I just don’t have any faith in Sony to do the right thing by bringing deek back

I emplore you

Deek Marston.jpg - 2560x1440, 1.69M

Marston really fits right in kek

Deek has a bunch of motorcycle conversations with people where he is yelling at them while they speak normally

Thought this was just to show that Deek is unhinged

Apparently the voice director was just confused

I like my interpretation more because Deek IS unhinged. It's rare to have a protag like this that has actually lost some marbles

north never makes sense to me. freaks like cold. all game they talk about hordes going UP the 97. why go north when it's colder, for longer. harder to grow food, too.

Deek is definitely unhinged. Listen to him seething about Copeland to himself.

How about Vegas and the surrounding area?

it would just remind me of that one resident evil movie where they went to vegas with eveything covered in sand and it was like a resident evil mad max movie. days gone in portland felt unique to me as a person whos not really into zombie genre but have seen just enough of it. id like for a sequel to give me the same feeling, even if it meant staying in portland which wouldnt be so bad just not visit the same areas

Multicultural Millennial Ironic bikers found a co-op settlement fight against white conservative slave owners using pop culture references.
Saints row remake.

a fun game
by far the best sony movie game
the others were trash

harder to grow food, less people, less people less zombies, might be a spot for some important shit to happen without zombies hounding you, but youre right though, could be boring
maybe there will be similar cult stuff like first game only this time involving cartel santa muerte nut jobs

Seattle. I want to throw a freaker off of the space needle.

I fucking loved the two fakeouts in the story with
a) dead wife is alive but fucking a black dude - actually she was faithful the whole time
b) the lesbian doc tries to cheat on her lover with you but you turn her down
Like that shit isn't allowed. It was great to see a modern story divert from the modern tropes and in a very believable way.

Reminder that Cope was literally right about everything.

If you were in a zombie apocalypse where would you go?

There's that one radio broadcast about guns being taken by the government and Deacon grudgingly says he's right.
He's right but he's a fucking asshole.

onto the roof of my house, naked and start jacking off

Realdoll warehouse.

I wanted some sort of pirate radio that plays old metal music

I'd just fucking die most likely, though there are some local farmers I could work for in exchange for food and shelter maybe. Rural/semirural areas would manage (assuming we're dealing with the types we see in the game, another way the game handled things really well - the cities are just beyond survivable). Starvation and infighting after the 1st year would be the real killer.
It was one of the two main things setting off the modern trend of zombie fiction but I can't recommend Brooks' two books enough. Ignore the WWZ movie, it has almost nothing to do with the book. Should've been an HBO series instead of The last of us.

Deek is full-blown schizo with his various mutterings and seething about everyone else; I enjoy it.

Doesn’t deek have ptsd or some shit from serving in Afghanistan? He talks about his service during that ride with Rikki from the power plant.

whats the point, just play music in your room and pretend its a second in game radio. such a hassle licensing that shit for a game and its rarely done well or adds something meaningful to a game other than to give a nod to a small portion of the playerbase to score brownie points in the official discord or subreddit.

Pretty much; there's also the whole 'just him and Boozer on the road without anyone else for hours at a time' so talking to himself is pretty normal.

Deek is unhinged for sure, but the motorcycle convos were just because Sam Witwer is a good actor and knows how you have to talk while you're riding for people to hear you. Fucking retarded that the director didn't get that kind of performance from everyone.
