Consequently Windows has been getting worse with every iteration.
The Windows cycle was just the result of them accumulating more technical debt resulting from shitty management and development decisions than they can realistically remove before needing to release a new Windows, but ever since 2012 they haven't been able to develop and refine fast enough to keep up with the technical debt.

Its easier for development because if there's a MS related problem they can't fix, then its best to just cut ties because there are no resources to rely on.
