The potato faces looked more Medieval and authentic. This is a shitmaster.
They Raped Oblivion
then just play the original.
They deleted the original?
the middle ages were a 1000 time period. also cyrodiil is a fantasy land. if we must draw a comparison it roughly looks like the real life 1500s.
Yeah. Removed from digital shopfronts.
No they didn't.
The monsters didn't look scary. They looked like silly Ultima cartoons. That, and watching grass render from 20 ft away were cardinal immersion breakers.
The remaster is better in every way except in style. The original game was beautiful except for the potato people.
youtube.com
Like most fantasy it's either late medieval or kitchen sink mess of periods. Give me iron age or bronze age fantasy. At least early medieval.
The original game was beautiful
It always looked like utter crap.
Even genuine shit like Gothic 3 looked better.
The potato faces looked more Medieval and authentic.
I'll disagree, the world looked great, especially the natural parts of the world, grass plants, trees, leaves etc. Locations had a lot of details with actual interactive objects in them. Even today a lot of games lack that kind of thing even if they are technically higher fidelity.
Character models and animations were pretty terrible, true, but they put real care into the actual detail of the world.
I was specifically talking about the way the world looked, especially the natural parts.
Not saying the characters were better, but still
Well, you're just a retarded contrarian.
So can you launch the OG Oblivion with the balance of the Remaster? After all the fucking thing still got the original format for the files and Unreal is just salad dressing.
No, I just have eyes.
Well yeah that’s every demaster. Just wallpapered new textures wrapped over the old ones
why does everything 20 feet from you look like Outcast
yes, snoozing on the "remaster",
but I am waiting for Skyblivion,
It's historically accurate that medieval people looked like potatoes.
but Anon Babble love rape ?
sovl
Find me a large open world game set in a natural environment *at the time*, that looked significantly better.
Why can't you accept that oldblivion looks like shit now? Arguing that the old faces look "medieval" and "authentic" is extreme cope
okami
wind waker
battlefield 2
shadow of the colossus
You have to remember that most people weren't even playing oblivion at this spec too. I've got tens of thousands of Oblivion pics from back in the day and they look 10x worse than this.
I'm playing my own remaster.
looked more Medieval
Elder Scrolls
Medieval
move along secondary
it really was depressing seeing how this "remaster" that changed absolutely nothing for the better other than generic unreal graphics garbage was praised
I really am surrounded by a bunch of disgusting casual graphics whores slop eaters. People here like to pretend they are better than redittors but you scum are all the same
arena is just medieval classic dnd fantasy
daggerfall is just medieval classic dnd fantasy
Oblivion is just medieval lotr fantasy
but morrowind had big funguses so I guess anyone calling oblivion (not tes, not morrowind, just oblivion) medieval must be a secondary
Literally the few changes they made were for the worse, while things they could have done to improve the game were left unchanged. Really baffling. But at the very least it is faithful.
Didn't it fix the level scaling
hello again fellow aesthetic killing shader enjoyer
Ah the sharpness is raping my eyes. Difference is my shaders look good. Yes, it changes the mood, though. I'm not saying you have to do it.
It's not (just) a matter or graphical fidelity, the game is completely hideous in all its aspects.
The palette is as ugly as it gets for a game set in a forest, characters are walking potatoes, armors look like 80s made-in-china toys and the engine is unable to decently render the vegetation.
Again it's not about how "realistic" or advanced it looks.
Deus Ex is older, has a low res low poly world populated with papercraft people and even back then it was considered pretty bad looking (particularly when you consider the specs it required), but I still find it more aesthetically pleasing than Oblivion.
I wouldn't say it looks good, the game would look better without it. They are fun though
fucking ew
I mean every screenshot you post wouldn't even be playable. idk what your point is.
Almost all "medieval" fantasy is early modern
no, the level scaling is literally unchanged. they changed the way stats are calculated when you level up. and by calculated, i mean they slapped a baby's first mod on it that gives a fixed amount of stats on every level up and called it a day
no it did not, just the leveling itself got tweaked. the scaling is still in alongside leveled gear/items. the nerf to the difficulty slider fucks with things too
Why does it have to be that way... last time I know somebody tried a bronze age game was Tyranny, that stinky shit and also tol down where it barely matters visually. Be fucking actually original, game devs and use history more.
Looks cozy but I bet the character are terrible
Oblivion NPCs are what they are, but for the most part is just werks.
It just shows how good old games really were compared to modern slop
vanilla faces
based
no idea why but it honestly looks like an actual improvement over vanilla.
It's because I'm using ray tracing for lighting, and the anime shader hides the lumpy look of the vanilla game. It actually does look better than vanilla, to me, but it does change the mood. I don't actually play that way, but I turn it on to walk around towns for a jrpg feel.
It's funny when people are saying it's the GOTY. What a sorry state gaming is in.
Dragon Quest lookin ass
looks nice for screenshots, but awful for actual gameplay
The way it looks in screenshots is the way it plays. So horrible if you don't like the aesthetic, but in terms of looking cohesive, it's perfect.
where's the brown overlay and fog everywhere?
I forgot the fog.
The monsters look ridiculous now, even more cartoony except for goblins that look like Ron Pearlman.
bot thread
if op was a real one this would be a thread about what he is doing in the game.
Bots can't play and explain what they are playing so we just have a hashed image
not turning off all grass in OG Oblivion
Doing it wrong.
cel shading
You need some weeb mods to complete the look.
I wish I didn't had eyes, looking at this. Oblivion had phenomenal graphics for it's time but somehow, it aged worse than Morrowind.
Get a job already.
The original cross hair healthbar was so shit and untrustworthy that they let you enable a traditional healthbar with a simple ini setting change
hey dude show us the characters
dark zoom with the only people 10-30 feet away
At least someone fixed the Argonians already.
I am and it's comfy.
most are quite decent
I will only play this when they get immersive interiors and open cities.
open cities
cringe
its not that deep
It's amazing and you should try it. It's ridiculous that the remaster has loading screens at all.
it really was depressing seeing how this "remaster" that changed absolutely nothing for the better other than generic unreal graphics garbage was praised
this
you know what i think is a massive bummer?
we actually have the tech to put the original oblivion radiant AI concept back in the game. where every NPC operates independently on their own. nope, they just ported over the stripped down one made for 2006 hardware
what is the point?
imo very few remasters have a legitimate reason to exist most are just cashgrabs but this one is really pushing it
you have the option between
playing the game you likely already own, with ~2 decades of mods available to you
or
shelling out 50 bucks for the soultrapped horsearmor remaster with no mods at all
and the worst part is that people are seeing that 50 dollar price tag and calling it a "win". ffs 50 bucks is the standard. you all got psyopped into thinking 60, 70 and now possibly 80, was acceptable.
its even more egregious when most nu-vidya is of such poor quality that a straight port of a ~20yo game can become a contender for GotY in le current year
The potato faces looked more Medieval and authentic.
not that i'm defending a 20 year old slop but come on now
