They should use 2.0 update as a base for the sequel. I mean, FROM recycles code and animations across franchises and console generations let alone mere sequels.

It'll have been 3 years since the first game came out and they mostly likely have been using the improvements from the updates to 1 towards 2 and plan to reuse content an animations much like FromSoft themselves. It doesn't sound too crazy.

My best friend got me this game about a month from release. We played it all the way through and had a blast. I played again when 2.0 came out. Movement feels a little different since you come to a complete stop now, but aside from that, I don't notice any combat differences despite their claims. It was a fantastic game from the start and I don't understand why it got so much hate. Maybe residual hate from the original game, maybe there were a ton of bugs that they patched out before I started playing? I don't know, but the point is that I had a great time. I know they added a ton of other shit like a boss rush and in-game challenge runs. My bud and I are doing a challenge run where it randomizes all the enemies and nearly all "bonfires" are removed. It's been really fun.

It was pretty bad at first, but they've been improving it. I don't know if they fixed the auto save stutter issue yet, but if not they'll probably fix it within the next few days. Apart from that the shared progression coop works just fine now.

I always pirate, so I don't really understand why "epic exclusive" is such a dealbreaker for people. It costs the same amount either way, right? And the game plays exactly the same, right? You just want a cut of the profits to go to Valve instead of Epic for some reason?

It might look inoffensive but I remember it felt really bad when actually playing because the enemies did that shit too, and many to a much worse degree than your player character. Enemy attacks would look like they were going to miss completely only for them to magically slide forward 5 meters, and combat would turn into a mess of stuff sliding all over the place in more hectic encounters. This was back on release though, haven't touched the game since.

If they were any smarter they'd get Japanese and Chinese voice packs. It goes a long way. Chinese game Wuchang is getting positive coverage in Japan simply because it has optional Japanese voices. Wo Long and DW Origins sold gangbusters in China because Koei went out of their way to get Chinese voice option.

The Elden ring player character doesn't slide that far ahead when attacking. At most you take a single step forward with some of the big weapons.
For the smaller weapons there is no noticable movement as I recall.

Personally, the ease of being able to download it on whatever computer I want, cloud saves, and achievements is what I'm truly paying for. Otherwise, yeah obviously I could pirate it, but I play games on my desktop, laptop, and steam deck. Pirating is a fucking mess when I want switch to other devices. I don't know. I think they just want more users. Some people don't have a problem with EGS and will buy the game over there if they have to. They might be willing to lose money now if it means more customers on the platform for the future.

I think it's more of a case of taking Epic's free money in order to guarantee to break even and then future steam sales will be pure profit. I imagine they're not that big of a studio either. The issue with this is, steam is such a juggernaut that it's completely in the realm of possibility that Lords 2 could sell millions from Steam alone if the devs market it correctly. So I would predict that they don't have enough faith in themselves to pull it off, or they're in desperate need of money immediately that they're willing to take the epic deal.

LotF 2.0 patch is decent, if a bit short on enemy variety but still decent soulike game. Much closer to Dark Souls in it's map design than DS2, DS3 or Elden Ring, but has no poison swamp in it

This is why I love this game so much. Elden Ring is great, but a huge identity of Souls games was lost in the transition to open world. The interconnected world and dungeons is a huge reason as to why I love Dark Souls. Lords of the Fallen scratched an itch that Elden Ring just couldn't

Animations are janky, but it's very fun. The boss here is SUPPOSED to enter a cutscene once you get him to ~7/8 HP so that the actual boss fight can begin, but he died too quickly.
I also wish that there were four ring slots. I get why there aren't due to balancing reasons (everything stacks with everything), but it still would have allowed for more builds, I think.
Also! Maybe a way to change runeslots! Something like the Lost/Uncanny weapon variants in Bloodborne.
