*saves DRPGs*

It's grindy as hell

daphne.jpg - 220x500, 26.18K

installs rootkit in you're PC

I really REALLY wanted to give this shit a try but my phone says it's too old to run this and pc version is so cucked it's unreal, gg

How does it fair compared to older Wizardry games? I've been curious about trying it out.

gacha

permadeath

dub-only

kernel anti-cheat

It didn't save a damn thing.

It basically a modern version of classic Wizardry with gacha rolling for party members tacked on.

permadeath

That's the one good thing though, that's faithful to classic wiz.

permadeath

you must be an actual retard to permadeath in this tho

It basically a modern version of classic Wizardry with gacha rolling for party members tacked on.

That sounds pretty good to me. Does it have weapons with different ranges like Wizardry 5? Anything like lockpicking or diving into pools? 5's my favorite so far.

That's the one good thing though, that's faithful to classic wiz.

Classic Wizardry wasn't a gacha.

You did roll for best girl, right?

Shelirionach.png - 1920x1440, 1.69M

Weapons

Yes, there's weapons that reach between frontline and backline without damage penalty like spears and bows.

Lockpicking

Simplified into being a mini-game (if you even detect the trap) but yes its there

I rolled for Elf 2B, yes.

i ain't wasting my money in gacha, even if the game is good. I got Marianne already.

Exploding chests will never not be funny to me. I just got surprised by one in Shadow Tower Abyss last night and it made me laugh my ass off.

Simplified into being a mini game

All it was before was a stat check to detect and then disarm on chests, and on doors it was just rolling until you got it either by lock picking or by using a spell. A mini game component actually sounds fun instead of just Calfo into trying to disarm.

damage penalty

huh? i didn't know this was a thing....

When you finally manage to get theentire party to come with you to the tavern

2379740_15.jpg - 1920x1080, 394.46K

Wasted all of my gems getting to Aboris pity since I thought he was going to be busted (he still is but Sheli looks even more busted)

Wonder how broken or how shit samurai will be, ninjas are good but require so much investment.

Yes, if you're on frontline and attack a backliner with a short range weapon you get a damage penalty. Same applies if you're in backline and attack a enemy frontliner. Spears don't have this penalty, and I believe bows actually have a close-range damage penalty.

The tavern and camps are so kino, really makes you fall in love with your party.

How do you do it?

Even with maxed trust still is rng to getthem all to show up

2379740_92.jpg - 1920x1080, 456.57K

steam version is also f2p gacha shit

bastards

dumb gacha scum

I just run it in bluestacks.

This is a thing in nearly every RPG with rows.

It just like the old games but with girls with enormous tits. I don't know why do they even bother to add male characters.

What's wrong with the PC version?

So no loli?

Installs some nasty root level anti cheat known for horrible code. It basically taints your windows install forever.

Buy an ad faggot.

If you want to play Wizardry go play 8. Whoever turned this franchise into a gacha needs to be ritual executed to free their family of the shame of having born a soul into this world that would turn a GOAT into gacha game that resembles a phantom of what once was.

Game disrespects your time to get you to open your wallet. Wizardry neither disrespected your time nor monetized itself by getting you to open your wallet. This isn't Wizardry. This is some skinwaller from the marketing department. Don't get tricked. Go play the one this one would like to capture the magic of.

Zoomers piss and shit themselves over Gameguard

Game disrespects your time to get you to open your wallet

how so?

it's mid as fuck. it's like playing wizardry 5 except with shitty gacha mechanics and stupid color coded gear.

If there's permadeath, does that mean the characters you roll for die permanently as well?

zoomers

root access

implying

Anyone not a child would have been playing Gameguard kino for decades

see

You *did* roll for her right?

Reply again and I'll effortpost a list of what revolted me very typical of gachashit and all very applicable to what made me try it and nearly immediately drop it.

Yes, but you have to be an incredible retard to do so. There are a bunch of safeguards in place to prevent permadeath that you really have to go out of your way to trigger it.

Yes, but as said you have to be extremely retarded to kill your units

because some people aren't fucking uber gooners

it's a non mechanic tied to the usual gacha stamina system. your characters have stamina and if they die you have to wait until their stamina goes back up. casting revive on them when they have low stamina has a chance to ash them. they're doing this fake scandal to farm engagement.

i thought this game was fantastic
then i realized that there's level scaling and all the joy was sucked out in an instant and i haven't touched the game since.

I think I would really enjoy seeing those cute large-breasted catgirls die horribly.
How out of the way do I have to go to do that?

fake scandal

And here's one of those extremely retarded people we prepared earlier!

Anyone not a child knows better than to purchase a $20 pack that lets you then purchase a $60 pack.

Any other gacha's story packs are priced better and that's not a compliment to any of them.

gachaslop

I don't care

learn english gachaslug

immediately moving goalposts

lmao
nobody cares about what things cost because nobody here is buying anything, go piss and shit yourself somewhere else zoomer

New player here.
What i'm actually losing in this game for not paying for anything? Never played any gacha btw.

Let's talk about gems and how the game lets you pretty much softlock yourself in a state where all your gems are siphoned out of you despite being the trickle-fed currency intended to get you to open your wallet. How do you feel about going too deep once now coming with multi-day timers that let you hand away the meager amount of currency you saved up and that they're always shoving in your face to buy?

Time. It chose the road of pay-2-shortcut.

60 pulls and nothing, made me stop caring for the game (same with benis). The rates are abysmal.

writing this much while not playing the game

Weird take!

Game is certified kino and has gobs of soul
Gacha aspect def sucks, but the core gameplay and aesthetic are outstanding

The rates are about average

rerolls one of 5 total SSRs as a new player

Sorry kiddo, open your wallet.

I am filled with resentment for this title since its predecessors were goats. I tried it. I wanted to like it. Now I'm filled with hate. I can go all day on its ugliest facets. This is my autistic obsession of a game.

I don't play other gacha to compare, nor would I want to. In an absolute view, which is what matters to me, they are beyond terrible.

I fell off after finishing the boat tournament. God, what a fucking shitshow that was

run to this NPC

run to that NPC

run back to the first NPC

they need a thing from a shop

okay go to the first NPC again

you can finally fight the miniboss!

It's a scripted battle that you lose.

Go talk to the NPC

all this is going on meanwhile WATER LEVEL

then it turns out I ran out of content. The game was supposed to launch a year earlier and I already hit the end of content

I know they added a new chapter but if it's as retarded as the last I'm probably way too burned out and I don't feel like gambling on a new waifu because she's just gonna be way too underleveled anyway.

All you're filled with is petulant seething, nothing you're posting about even has anything to do with the game

Game is certified kino and has gobs of soul

It's not.

the game is just watered down tale of the forsaken land

3rd abyss is much better but yeah, Port Town is awful.

Sorry your shitty game hits the wall in 12 hours instead of 3 but I guess I'm the one stuck with a game that starts with its best foot forward for one single dungeon before sunken cost traps start showing up.

Friendly reminder of EVERY gacha selling a season pass dressed up as a story essential thing this one's monetization has the least bang for your buck of all of them. They hit you with an excellent starting experience before disrespecting you on a level that with time since release has only grown more aggressive. You'd unironically get more value out of Nikke per purchase.

You're really saving me the time from trying this game, thanks.
I'll go with that new Madoka game instead.

Fucking based. May your event mado-homu pulls be fat.

and that's a good thing since it's the best Wizardry

selling a season pass dressed up as a story essential thing

What are you even schizoposting about

mixed on steam

sell me on this game

No

Agreed. I really adore the game's atmosphere, from soundtrack to visuals, they nailed it. Gameplay is excellent as well even if there are some very questionable balance decisions (knights/defense), but they seem to be slowly addressing many of the complaints like class changes and inheritance.
With that said.
Tag system is insanely retarded and makes zero fucking sense lore wise. All their cash shop packs are probably the worst value I have ever seen in any game. Game is absurdly stingy, and only reason most people can roll at all is because of apologems. The way they addressed class changes is still obscure since we don't know how common the currency will be, but they wasted no time adding more books to the cash shop. Gear is a huge pain to grind and even worse to upgrade. Most systems are completely obscure and can lead you to wasting super precious resources (I would be fine with this one if it wasn't so hard to get good shit, but it completely kills any experimenting and makes people fear taking any action). Game is still a buggy as fuck and I have found myself having to use the menu reset multiple times, which has a 24h cooldown by the way so if you get stuck because of them, though luck, see you tomorrow. Oh, but exploit patches like walking through enemies get patched day 1. And finally, reminder daily shop is still broken for westerners.

A humble "sex with Juju" to you good sir.

This

there's a decent game in there but sadly the devs are retarded and anti player to the point of absurdity. Remember when they patched out that one exploits that let you get exp(Or something) and went as far as to retroactive take away it from players? But they can't even fix their own fucking bugs and lack of features

Oh right, I gotta finish her game.
Thanks for reminding me.

gacha

Close but no cigar.

It wasn't exp it was unlimited copies of certain adventurers, no shit they're going to patch the exploit and take those copies back.

Maybe those gooks should have made the game better if they didn't want to people to exploits it.

To explain further to anyone who doesn't know the game: the daily shop is where you get free daily gems, though it's barely anything. Only way to fix is to switch your clock to JP timezone because fuck gaijin.
And to make another point I don't see why people would roll for newer units (gameplay wise) unless they add insane power creep, because, as of now, since it is so hard to get stuff, if you happen to invest skills into a unit it will become too expensive to swap them out in the main party. It's a huge resource and opportunity cost.
They also patched out a steamie only cash pack that was the only thing ever worthwhile in the shop and people simply feared the devs would roll back their accounts or put them into gem debt.

Men of taste.

is this better than etrian combat gameplay wise? i like etrian a lot and know it's pretty much a wizardry clone.

Didn't feel any different from rolling for stats in the old games to me desu. I'm still using my day 1 party. Only absolute retards experience FOMO.

Wizardry games are known for their heavily RNG-based and simple yet punishing combat. If you're looking for skill trees and deeper team synergies then you won't really find it here.

Do you like having your back blown out not because of a miscalculation but because haha fuck you?

i dont mind rng and lighter char building. managing eng is the core of rpgs imo. i might try this out.

If you like Etrian you'll probably like this, it's balanced pretty closely to Etrian in terms of difficulty, but there isn't anything like EO's skill point system.

And to make another point I don't see why people would roll for newer units (gameplay wise) unless they add insane power creep, because, as of now, since it is so hard to get stuff,

I see character who looks cool, I roll. I don't know why people get so hung up on muh min-maxxing here, the game is difficult yes, but I've beaten almost all of its content with a party that's barely min-maxxed, and most of my guys don't have any discipline levels. Equipment matters 100x more than stats, and the only way to get good equips to actually play the game and grind.

Tag system is dumb I'll agree there but I've been playing since launch and it hasn't been an issue for me, and the only time I spent money on the game was to buy the bugged 40 dollar pack that was accidently put up for 3 dollars. Whenever they bump the level cap they'll probably just push out a lot more free tag urgent missions.

I don't know why people get so hung up on muh min-maxxing here

Gachabrains aren't people

If you want to play Wizardry go play 8. Whoever turned this franchise into a gacha needs to be ritual executed to free their family of the shame of having born a soul into this world that would turn a GOAT into gacha game that resembles a phantom of what once was

this x 10,000

Funny how they made the best blobber of the last 10 years despite having the level of gacha of early 2010.

i don't see.jpg - 712x802, 172.01K

I see character who looks cool, I roll.

That's why I said gameplay wise, specifically for those who care about it. Wizardry has a reputation for being hard. The game is meant to be challenging. So it's not unreasonable to expect people to look for gameplay advantages and benefits as a way to futureproof, make grinding easier or whatever. If you're not one of them, that is fine, good for you.

Whenever they bump the level cap they'll probably just push out a lot more free tag urgent missions.

That's what most people are banking on, but the game right now isn't like that at all, and it takes weeks to get a single adventurer to the current cap.

Pay to win gacha characters and weapons (previous ranked mode only whales dominated thanks to maxed out weapons and disciplines and skills)

Heavily timegated resources like rank upgrades and skill books

Progression (class changes) locked behind paywall or free gibs once every 4 months

Story and dungeon quality drop off a cliff after the first abyss

Events are 2010s-tier of mindless grind with little to no story and filled with reused assets

Game breaking bugs that can fuck your account until the devs decide to give a shit still in the game

Honestly I could go on. Daphne is the biggest gacha rugpull in recent memory.

The funny thing is you can't even really pay your way out of the grind. The game IS grindy, but you're not paypigging your way out of it. Also saying older Wizardry games didn't disrespect your time is insane. The original Wizardry literally autosaved constantly to make sure you couldn't save scum and HAD to go pick up your previous party if they wiped. Permadeath is also arguibly just a time-waster, and there's also the age mechanic which would just kill off your guys if you played too long.

A wizardry game being light on story? Say it aint so.

lmao get filtered

Plays wizardry

Complains about lack of story
