Thoughts on PoP The Last Crown?

I didn't appreciate that they made the prince ambiguously black with that overused Killmonger haircut, but the game is otherwhise one of, if not the best metroidvanias, if you actually have standards for tight platforming and combat.

It was overpriced at launch in the eyes of most people, because they're conditioned to believing that metroidvanias shouldn't cost more than 25 bucks. Even if the game has launched at 25, it's highly likely half of the people interested would have just waited for a sale, because Ubisoft built up the reputation of slashing prices shortly after release. Lost Crown, the Mario + Rabid games, and E33 being made by former Ubi staff pretty much confirms that they have loads of tallented devs capable of making good games, but the retarded ubi management is holding them back.

It's the best game in the genre which isn't an actual Metroid or Castlevania game and its commercial underperformance is another reminder of how much presentation overrides absolutely everything else that people often claim to want.

It's not really a huge spoiler, but the protagonist of Lost Crown is the prince the title who lost his crown to the pussy prince you seethe about, he learns that truth later.
