I installed Windows 11 on my old rig using the registry workarounds and that thing has decade-old hardware. People just don't wanna install Windows 11 because they think it's somehow worse than 10, when it's pretty much exactly the same thing just with an updated UI.

It will probably still work on Steam for another year or so afterwards but the trend is already showing uptick in W11 replacing it at 58% of Steam windows users.

True and technically still runs Steam on some setups. Its even still registered as in use on the April hardware survey.

Windows 8.1 also stopped working completely on steam in the September 2024 update. More than 9 months after the deadline for it to stop working went by on 1st Jan 2024.

Steam is very generous with extending support for outdated ones and 8.1 was only 0.4% of users remaining by the time Steam broke on it. So if Windows 10 stays at 25%+(we'll see how it drops from now till November) after January 2026, they will probably allow it to be on the steam client for another 18 months or so.

I wouldn't be surprised. Win10 will be unsupported by MS by the time this game comes out, and any machine that can't run Win11 will be well below the minimum requirements for this.
