Looks like you never noticed, but all the 3D GTAs' stories are pastiche of movie genres. 3 was that kind of late 90s-early 2000s british gangster movies like Snatch or Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Vice City was like 80s drug kingpin movies and shows like Miami Vice and Scarface. The Los Santos parts of San Andreas was like 90s gangbanger movies like Menace 2 Society (inbetween is kinda wack though), 4 was like those neo-noir European movies like Brother and Pusher, and 5 was hollywood blockbuster. Netflix and the social media lense is just the natural evolution. And it's just a fucking trailer, we barely know anything about the characters.

Franklin would've been stuck with his ghetto shit and fall deep with all that nigga hood gangsta shit if Michael didn't pull him out of that life. Franklin was praying for a miracle like Michael. Even Trevor and his memey life had some deep moments with him opening up about his mental illness and we see how get to be so deranged growing up so abused.
