Level-5 CEO says games are now being made 80-90% by AI

Codebros... It's joever

3mggU0W.png - 790x697, 401.66K

There was a coding exercise that I was asked to do as part of an interview. I haven't coded at all in 10 years and ChatGPT was able to make it just from a prompt, that was pretty cool.

instead of searching from stack overflow for the codes, you use "ai". just makes the work faster.

how is Level-5 still alive

He's full of shit.

Endless trash!!!!

Level-5

Literally who?

coders and artists the first ones to get made irrelevant

absolutely based. please please please replace doctors, lawyers and scientists next.

Pretty much everyone modern coding tool has some form of ai in it so ai is touching all the code in some way.

The rest of his speech was saying dont be a retard that just relies entirely on ai since it's supposed to be a tool that streamlines the basic mundane shit and if you're using it to replace the human component then you are effectively making yourself worthless.

There is no training data for game code to begin with. Even in webdev the AI vibecoding attempts are dying down. Artists are fine too because they just became prompt engineers as well.

Apparently from what i Heard the ai they used for coding had to learn it and that took so much time they had to delay their games. It was inevitable

No wonder all games release buggy, unoptimized as shit, barely working

So it wasn't enough that we were never going to get Dark Cloud 3... now you made me not even WANT Dark Cloud 3... unreal...
Fuck this AI shit so much...

How did AI not obliterate the indian IT market? I thought that their specialty was exactly the sort of low skilled grunt work that AI was supposed to automate.

How come they are still shit then?

I bet GTA6 was made with AI

Gives even more validity to Sovl vs Souless.

I've said this before but the hard part about writing code was never writing the code, it goes
1. interpersonal office shit like wringing the requirements out of whoever is in charge
2. making sure everyone agrees/understands the actual problem being solved
3. designing something that represents the problem in the most sensible way
4. more office shit like reporting, meetings, scope, timelines and shit.
5. writing the code

the first 4 are infinitely harder than the code and AI cant do them. I'd argue if your code could be replaced by AI it could have already been replaced by an off the shelf product.
by the time AI is good enough to do the first 4 then no jobs anywhere in any field will exist.

common for japanese who barely knew how to code anything in the first place maybe.

is this his vaunted "aesthetic choice" he was going on about? trailer looks bad. the game looks worse, like a barely remastered DS game

hasn't the entire sum of human progress just been to make things easier? how is this any different?

Imagine all the awesome games made by AI trained on Pajeet++ code

Learn to code bros lost their jobs faster than artists
kek

What you heard is someone making shit up. Their games got delayed because Inafune got hired and then made a giant flaming pile of shit and left the company so they had to had to reshuffle the development teams to finish it. They specifically said that Fantasy Life being fucked is the reason why they had to delay Inazuma Eleven one last time. and it's safe to assume the rest of the teams also got fucked by it.

AI shills before:

XAXAXA FUCK YOU DRAWFAGS YOU ARE BEING REPLEACED MAY I SUGGEST LEARNING HOW TO CODE? HMM?

AI shills now:

NOOOOOOO MY CODING EXPERIENCE MEANS FUCKING NOTHING?? AI HAS GONE TOO FUCKING FAR

They'll just modify them to shit that ChatGPT can't solve.

Why are they all gaijin and speaking unnatural Japanese? Weird ad.

There is no training data for game code to begin with

The game code would be the training data... What are you even saying? You could just brute force a model to decompile video games into something that makes sense, technically.

based, tired of generic UE5 look like the c33 trash that's being shilled
bring on more artistic games

nah the more that any person who so desires can use AI to make their ideas into reality is a good thing imho

Japanese love weird foreign people ads. It basically became Tommy Lee Jones entire career

honestly using ChatGPT as a tool is not bad. You just shouldn't be 100% relying on it if you're a coder. That being said you should be using it like Wikipedia and take its responses with a grain of salt. But yeah for someone like me who just needs it to generate code that launches a game, sets the monitor to a resolution, and set it back after the game closes, it's been a godsend.

AIslop shills

ideas

lmao

post your works

Why do they have to announce this shit? Do they not know it’s bad press?

I really want to see what the actual late game looks like. They've shown pictures of the big dungeon progression and skilltrees but they wont show the actual specific shit inside of them. The game is inevitably going to be 200+ hours long like the first one but they refuse to show any content that isn't just the tutorials for each job.

How much XP do you need to become a level 5 CEO?

literally no one gives a fuck about screeching retards that don't like AI, they're trying to communicate with other humans.

post your skin color

Akihiro Hino has been in the industry for around 30 years, he's a super veteran.

anime licenses and merch
their game dev side has "died" and been resurrected by third party funding like three times

He was giving a speech at a young programmers conference. His speech was literally warning them not to rely entirely on AI as it inevitably becomes bigger and bigger in game development. The article is just a clickbait title to make it look like he's saying they are making completely ai generated games. Notice the part about ai tools is just a little footnote because all the tools are starting to have ai in them.

no they won't.
AI is a tool and knowing how to use tools is essential in dev

90% of the code is nowadays written by AI

I want to see that because he's either full of shit or that abomination is only understood by other AIs and their "prompt engineers" must continuously ask it to rewrite code over and over and over since no human can understand it by this point. Like a sunken cost fallacy

Most games are closed source. AI scrapes public repositories to make its slop.

Yuuuup. It's all over, code monkeys. Adapt or get left behind

Finally, a job for me!

Pretty much how I use it at work, that and auto-completion for repetitive code. Though I still use SO in the first instance, Copilot fucking sucks at some issues

Funny that you say that because more old games from companies like EA are getting their code posted as open source.
For example command and conquer had their first couple of games source code posted over at git hub. This is already a step forward when in the next path, v
Chat gpt might as well be able to code a pretty complete RTS game

no argument

I accept your concession and your upcoming rage that I one-upped you

And then you remember you have to pay corporations to use their AI or you have to buy a ultra expensive GPU if you want to run a inferior AI that might not even work to begin with

Akira Tago passing was basically the death of the series

they tried tackling the series to feature his daughter, but they failed miserably

they announced their return early 2023

we are mid 2025 and fuck all happened, not even exact release date

this

This game is going to be a disaster, isn’t it?

IMG_9238.jpg - 635x805, 357.49K

When the game was announced, it was already slated for 2025. Start worrying if they miss this year like they did with literally all their other recent games.

Availability might eventually come to that point but then we'd be at the same place as webdev is now with vibecoding and it would be even more nightmarish maintaining a hallucinated game engine.

Its 100% not going to be out until next year after they had to move a bunch of people around for fantasy life to get finished after Inafune fucked it up. They already had to delay inazuma eleven another 3 months because of it

You misunderstood me. You could technically train an AI to decompile that code and then train on that.

Starts hallucinating out of it's ass and just invents functions and libraries that don't exist

AI niggers will make outlandish claims like saying "coding is over" because they make it code a to-do sorter, of which there are 100000 tutorials about it in the open internet. But the moment you start writing anything more niche or novel, or specific, the AI shits it's pants, but it will tell you the wrong solution anyways because it's designed to give you a solution no matter how wrong it is

They will most certainly
The only positive thing that suggests otherwise is the Switch 2 direct stated 2025…. But knowing their history there’s nothing preventing them from another delay

All the artist and coders actually do "learn a trade"

Trade market gets devalued due to oversaturation

Genuinely what's going to happen? Not everyone can be a welder.

AI will just magically decompile code and magically understand the written instructions on what to do with it

Maybe by 2050 or something.

That's part of the plan. They don't want to pay a single more penny to the average middle class serf. To them the "middle class" is an abomination and we should all be renting(they own the housing) and earning minimum wage to survive.

That's good news! If the games are made 80-90% by AI, that means they require less manpower to make and they're going to be cheaper by 80-90%!

Decompiled .NET, possibly. But decompiled native code without debug symbols is just mindflayer runes. Good luck when AI starts spewing that out.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Introducing a mandatory social benefit for everyone that'll allow them to vegetate and spend any money they get through other means on corporate products.
Also, expect a lot of Unabombers soon.

Fire most of your workers

Overwork your current staff by making them use an RNG machine

"That'll be $90 plus tip"

Not magic it's Technology™. I dunno when something like that will happen, I'm just saying you don't need training data when you have data to train on. Training is like the algorithmic exercise of "understanding" the data you give it. A compiled game is data just like a bunch of pictures are. You just have to make the program and turn on your GPU server farm to get the AI figuring out what the fuck that thing is.

It will happen in our lifetimes for sure. That's why pro-AI people are excited lol, a lot of them think it will happen sooner rather than later.

cheaper

You misspelled expensive.

their first instance of ai hallucination is going to kill this idea.

HIRIHITO SAN WHY DOES AI TERRU ME TO ACUSESSU A FUNCTION ZAT DOES NOTTU EXIST?

AI ALWAYS RIGHT. YOU FIRE, COMMIT SEDUKU

you won't hear about level 5 next year. ai is a great tool, but it's not ready for any complex code, especially code needed to scale. go ask it for something simple in unreal engine 5, the most popular engine in use. chatgpt, deepseek, and claude still tell you to access things that don't exist. you'll get stuck in a loop of

this doesn't exist

oh you're, right, it's actually called this!

it's still not there

you're absolutely right, this isn't in unreal engine 5, instead, go here!

this doesn't exist

that's true! what you're meant to do is this!

this doesn't exist

correct! you actually have to use this blueprints node!

that blueprint node doesn't exist!

and you would be right! please turn off context!

context is off, this node doesn't exist

absolutely true, please go here instead!

and that will be the end of your ai coding adventure.

Why do your indian AI chatters talk in a japanese accent?

If you actually read what he said you will realize he is literally warning people not to overuse ai and try to replace people with it. He's not saying ai is coding games he is saying that everyone is using tools that use ai and that most ai shit is going to be useless trash so don't expect it to do all the work

If you actually read what he said you will realize he is literally warning people not to overuse ai and try to replace people with it

i'm sure ceos and shareholders will definitely do that, and not fire everyone and keep 3 people in a room with ai. as we all know, ceos and shareholders always do what's best for employees.

A CEO that has no idea what he's talking about in order to try and push the thing he's bullshitting to actually happen.
At this point the only thing AI is doing for video games is single images like loading screens or references for actual artists.

80-90%

Whenever you hear this figure, you know you're looking at the most useless person in the company

AI is rampant in the industry, the developers just use it to to a lot of the early work and fix it up.

If you actually read

You're asking a lot here.

I worked with a bunch of batch and powershell code once at work to figure out how to make a script that could run on other computers remotely abmnd identify a bunch of BS. The AI tossed me a "blueprint" and was good for doing polishing but it was useless at anything else unless I carefully handheld it, at which point just modifying what I got was way more efficient (nevermind that the AI defaulted to a ton of inefficient methods like not using rmdir over del)
Basically, only good with a human hand or shooting basic proposals

Now go read what he actually said and who he is talking to

Would explain why all the unreal slop releases unoptimized and not working

Also it's not good at using sysinternals utilities (and especially didn't account for psexec being a slow starting, buggy piece of shit)

cute fft elf

ok Rajeesh

techbros were mocking artists for complaining about ai ripping off and stealing their works

in the end 90% of the art is still done by humans, while 90% of the programming is replaced by ai

how the turntables

>techbros were mocking artists

Gaijin talent or "gaitare", they're called. They specifically scout for people with passable but not great Japanese proficiency who conform to national stereotypes to reinforce Japanese preconceptions about their language that essentially amount to ethnic exceptionalism. tl;dr, they're ethnic clowns.

Techbros arent coders
They just like the concept and idea of things like Elon
