I particularly love the emphasis on how normal these 8 people are and yet the extraordinary things they do to survive that arguably puts the main cast of the franchise to shame (in the earlier games at least)

The one thing i want from Capcom is something like a "Racoon City Collection" which includes HD verisons of the classic 3 games and these 2 with some QOL

Outbreak was basically about everyday civilians who found themselves in a fucked up situation, pretty much every dialogue ingame or cutscene felt real and suited for every character… in File 1 at least, I can’t say the same about ingame File2

Also, they have a series of special ad-libs in End of the road near the end

Only one stage was fully complete for what would have been File 3, but the characters already existed and had types assigned to it, as said, you could use Gameshark to unlock them

There were a total of 20 stages planned (although i dunno if showdown and Elimination were counted) so there were definitely plans to release at least a File 3, however, the low sales, the Tom Cruise bitchfest and the fact that RE4 for PS2 blew every other RE game out of the water meant Capcom just dropped outbreak like a rock and never looked back

I think it's better that it was for the ps2 otherwise it would be something more akin to re5 which is shit. This day and age games like Lethal Company unironically prove that at least a decent amount of people are willing to play the way developers intended. Of course there are people willing to mod the game heavily or use discord or whatever, but I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with that if that is how they wish to play so long as purests hace tge optionto play it like it was in the past. I think outbreak would do ok in the current climate if you make a game in the RE engine with a bigger focus on how RE2 Remake was as opposed to 3 or 4

The siege is why Desperate Times was my least favorite scenario to replay in File 2. I hated that shit. Especially on VH with strangers cause more then half the time you'd get to it with crap for supplies. To be fair because of my dislike of it it's one of the few scenarios I didn't end up playing so much I knew it like the back of my hand, which just made me a shittier teammate.

It's important to remember though that the game was designed to be replayed a bunch it was full of unlockables you could then use in game. So even if it wasn't on your first try on say easy or normal just to get used to the scenario you'd find out then. If you started on hard or very hard well good luck.

this is more narrow than the OP but the choice to make the CO character in splintercell black was inspired. Michale Ironside with his presence and voice is just going to clash with a white superior, the guy would come off as either a wimp or be an old timer. getting a black guy defuses that problem, he's of a similar stature but safely in another category, no need to butt heads.
