Literally all this game needs is an expansion based on combat and exploration. Forget npcs, forget the big towns, forget the story and janky quests. Just let us explore a dangerous locale with mythical beasts. The foundations for an amazing game are there.
Literally all this game needs is an expansion based on combat and exploration. Forget npcs, forget the big towns...
Yes, it's not happening tho :)
Just play Dark Arisen.
I seriously think they've abandoned DD2.
Kinoshita take the wheel
Never gonna happen, it's been over a year and they didn't do shit with 2.
No major performance patches, no major balance patches, no major bugfixes, nothing.
The performance has been fixed, on PS5 at least
Does it really still run poorly in the city? Also holy fuck I just realized I completely forgot what the main city name was. I could never forget Gran Soren.
forgot
because there aren't any memorable lines like "all roads lead to Gran Soren" at all, like nothing really
It sold 3 million in a month while being a tech demo for Wilds. The dlc is happening.
Dragon's dogma forever ruined action adventure games for me. From the character creator to the ability to latch onto a cyclops face and gouge out its eye, to wolves dragging you off into the bushes to gangrape you. Nothing compares to it.
The sequel is like seeing an old friend whose become a bum is half incoherent and a crippling alcoholic. Shits just sad.
Astroturfed game.
I can agree to an extent. It's impossible for me to play Skyrim instead of DDDA for example.
They fixed the performance issues for the most part months ago.
Yes, its still a good game, its just not the kind of game where you put 999 hours into it. Its entire issue for me is it lacks replayability and a gameplay loop. Slapping mods on for randomized spawns and difficulty adjustments shows how easy it would be to do some great work with the game, where they could add way more variety of enemies very easily, but theyll never do it, Dragons Dogma was always the game only Itsuno wanted to make, he was basically bribed to stay, on the offer that he would be allowed to make DD2 if he made DMC.
I want more DD, I hope this isnt the end. Even if DD1 is better and more rounded I still liked DD2 enough to buy an expansion for it if they made it, or another DD game. It really does look like they abandoned DD2, it didnt even get cosmetic DLC etc, which for Capcom is unheard of.
Capcom stated they expect major revenue from DD2 this year. Either they are completely delusional to think DD2 will start selling out of nowhere or they have a DLC in mind.
And he better give it to us for free too.
I'm still mad I paid full price for this 5$ empty alpha tech demo.
Just let it fucking die and stop reminding me of that garbage.
It's hard to dissect what makes a game have staying power and in this case why 2 has less. I can maybe put part of the blame on the vocation system in 2 being downgraded. But I know a lot of it has to do with the world/level design too.
Let me hope till I rope
No amount of DLC or disconnected loot dungeon can fix this garbage just like it couldn't fix the first game. It needed to be right from the get-go.
Yes, its still a good game
No it isn't you fucktard.
It's pretty good, it's unfinished but not bad.
They solved it by having npcs disappear in front of you when shit gets overloaded
The blame is on shitsuno for remaking the same game but somehow dumbing down the good elements while also keeping all the shit ones.
I have more problems with the finished parts than with anything that may be missing.
world is empty
content that is there gets old 10 hours in
Also why does combat feel so janky compared to the 1st game?
I'm sure
No major performance patches
Just buy an RTX5090 and a 9800X3D, problem solved.
it needs to be able to run, not crawl with a stutter
FUCK MONSTER HUNTER. IT MAKES ME HAPPY THEY SUFFERING RIGHT NOW WITH WILDS!
It's hard to dissect what makes a game have staying power and in this case why 2 has less
For me it's the fact that I have nothing to do, and there's no genuine challenge, in NG+. The game desperately needs a hard mode and NG+ with proper enemy scaling, that forces me to fully utilise the game mechanics if I want to come out on top. Right now, on a level 72 character, I can steamroll through every enemy I come across, even if I handicap myself with only one, non mage pawn. Just yesterday I wanted to fight a minotaur again, found a gore minotaur and it was over in less than a minute. It's a same that combat this good get overshadowed by the lack of challenge.
DD1 had the same problem until they added DA. It's honestly funny how much of a retread 2 is. But at least if we had gotten a meaningful NG+ or a hard mode we could have kept busy until we got a proper dungeon/combat expansion.
tl;dr
Nothing to do after you've beaten the game.
Literally the only fucking thing the game has is combat
Fight as many goblins as you like, there's literally nothing but combat
Im not even kidding when I say the sequel being shit basically killed what little capacity for joy I could still feel. Im old enough to know life doesn't get better with time but false hope is some sinister shit. The initial announcement was like a dose of adrenaline. But crashing from that high, just trashed my ability to enjoy life.
Nothing gets better, everything is in a constant state of decay, and what little high notes there are quickly turn flat and grow ever fewer.
I've played both and enjoyed both, same for Elden Ring. I could never understand pitting games against each other and vehemently defending them online. I'll play all games, more fun for me.
Gamers are too consumer-brained and keep thinking the next amazing thing is just around the corner, but that's all marketing.
You know what the good games are already. You can play them at any time and enjoy yourself. You don't really need any more. There's a reason why Chess is a centuries long enduring board game, and no Chess player is a doomer gonna shoot themselves because there's no Chess 2.
I think it’s a blast as it is.
of course more dd2 is a good thing and hopefully there is more on the way.
works flawlessly on my machine
hopefully there is more on the way
Nostradamus here, there isn't nothing more on the way.
by the time you finish everything you’ll have over 100 hours in dd2.
why the expectation of this game
needing to be some sort of live service? when did capcom ever hint that was their plan?
too bad it wasnt enough for you to kill yourself. its not yet too late. really consider it.
Nah rather slip into your ass pussy, give you a ride on the drag-your-ass-on my dick-ma.
Let you feel the sweet kiss of my godsbane blade between those cheeks
Quasimodo here, there is more on the way.
Any source so I can delay my suicide and keep coping?
I wish it was more than just a test for MH
if they just chucked in a few more enemy types the game would've been massively better
it's a shame, what was there is fun, it just runs like shit and is mind-numbingly sparse
Two has a plot that goes all over the place and lacks the big final punch that both the DD1's main story and BBI had, lacks the highly memorable characters, and finally lacks any meaningful endgame. Everfall offered noticeably more challenge than the Unmoored World, and had the big Ur-Dragon Grind to finish things off. And then BBI stepped things up significantly in both encounters, loot, and final boss. It gives you a reason to stick around after completing the main story, and that's the thing that turns a game from 20-50 hour one and done to a 500+ hour blast
of course a faggot like you didn’t like DD2. makes sense.
go play e33, that might be more up your faggot lane.
Capcom's integrated 2024 report. Here's the part you're looking for.
Next fiscal year, we expect a contribution from completely new IP Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC) as well as catalog titles Street Fighter 6 and Dragon’s Dogma 2. We will also work to further expand sales globally based on our digital strategy for other major titles.
I will continue to live.
bullshit but i believe it
They renewed Denuvo they’re 100% doing something and it’s probably part of the reason initial MH wilds support is so slow
we'll never get dragons dogma 2, it's over...
NEVER SAY NEVER
dragons dogma 2 failed, it's over... <--- You are here
Expansion that fixes everything is suddenly announced
NEVER SAY NEVER
See I wouldnt even say its downgraded, it seems entirely apparent that it was SUPPOSE to have more classes, which is why they arent "downgraded" but they are definately more streamlined. I actually like how some skills are rolled into the base moves and that all classes are actually distinct and not just "this is strider but they have some new skills" etc, if you play a thief they are the only class that actually feels like that, if they added more classes I would want different weapons associated with each class, that was a great move, they didnt have enough weapons, which is why it also sucks.
What I HATE is that they restricted fashion even more than the first game, its one thing to remove the amount of armour slots, but they also have more class restrictions. They could also fix something like this by having a color pallete swapper if not more armours, and just removing the class restrictions so peoples pawns actually look different and takes advantage of the sharing system. As it is, everyone looks the fucking same. This is the exact game that needs a transmog system and end game loop like BBI, so people can make a community around sharing pawns and doing runs in the game with them, the game is not taking advantage of the things it touches on.
RPGs released now are expected to be replayable and have and end game loop. I liked DD2 but the problem was it doesnt focus on the things its good at, and in fairness, RPGs generally do have replayability by their very nature. You can do everything and play every class on one playthrough of DD2, imagine if you had to pick a class at the begining and that was your class for the whole game, thats how RPGs generally do it and replaying is trying a different class or build etc, DD does not do this.
Shit, just slapping in a bunch of dungeons and vistas everywhere would suffice, no game quite captures the feeling of adventure with a party like DD does, but theres not a lot to discover, they needed more hidden stuff like the sphynx to find, and "dungeons" like that volcanic passage tunnel where its an actual dungeon and not a cave, and more importantly, has stuff in it, shit, with RE engine it is incredible forgiving of scaling tools even being fiddled with on the fly, you could just have a cave that has an ogre the size of a cyclops and has increased movement speed, or a dragon the size of a dog and has unique spells, or change mob sizes so packs of goblins come in their 30s rather than 3 at a time. The game is capable of this it just doesnt use any of it. You can make zombie hordes, where whenever you go to the town gate and see there is a fight kicking off, people can actually die to it, and since they permadie, you start to see the enemies creeping closer in to towns if you dont revive/help.
Randomizing the encounters actually goes a hell of a long way to getting rid of the feeling that there is few enemy types, there is actually a fair few, you just never encounter them. There is fucking teleporting saurians, you only find them in one hidden area in the base game, same with Dullahan, its only in post game or at one bridge at a specific time, they should just be a night fight, theyre a really cool fight.
YOU ARE A TRUE GAYMER
As someone who puts the original Dragon's Dogma at the top of their all time most favourite and beloved games, I have made a list of complaints/issues/reasons for why I don't like Dragon's Dogma 2. I'll try to keep them brief as my actual doc is over 10k words
- The music is forgettable, the remastered version of Imminent Triumph is painful to listen to
- Lack of enemy variety, I don't care for reskins like asps, rattlers, serpents and magma scales
- Removing enemies like hydras, cockatrice, gargoyles and hellhounds - happy about medusa, minotaurs and especially dullahan though
- Removing under garments like shirts and pants
- Controls still feel clunky when climbing monsters thanks to being able to walk/crawl on them when you want to jump off instead
- Enemies knock you down way too often and it takes way longer to get back up into the fight
- Areas feel like corridors, exploration and secret pathways were essentially gutted from the game and when they exist they lead to nothing
- Split vocations remove experimentation from combat, warfarer is lazy and cheap
- 90% of caves are just tunnels
- Everywhere feels the same no matter where you are in a specific region, Vermund is just trees and mountains, Battahl is just redrock and sand
- Can't sell items from storage
- The map showing undiscovered roads when you haven't been there ruins exploration as it guides you along a path instead of making one for yourself
- Most NPC's have no relevance to the story, such as Nadina and Ulrika on the box art but you see them once or twice for 10 minutes and never again
- Ending was extremely dull and anticlimactic, basically nothing happens
- Other people's pawns constantly ruining the mood of your adventure by talking AT you about places nearby instead of letting players explore by themselves
More to come
It flopped so hard the expansion was canceled and the team let go
Maybe the real games were the friends we made along the way
They removed
- Grim goblins, but added choppers and knackers
- Hellhounds, would have been great for the unmoored world
- Sulfur saurians, but most likely replaced by asps
- Geo saurians, probably a replacement for rattlers
- Saurian sages, no alternatives
- Giant undead
- Snow harpy, so no more freezing breath
- Gargoyles, no petrification
- Cockatrice, would have worked great for Bakbattahl instead of griffins
- Metal golem
- Hydra
- Arch hydra
- Evil eye
- Wyrms
- Wyverns
There's many more enemies removed but not added to this list like strigoi, gorecyclops, banshees, sirens, eliminators, silver/gold knights, dark bishop, living armour, wraiths, gazers, elder ogres, death, etc etc simply because they're from DLC but not adding a single one in some way is criminal
On top of all these issue they removed Mystic Knight, special and unique attacks of daggers and swords you could unlock with timed button presses like roundhouse kicking and heavier sword swinging. Elemental charged shots from staves no longer have unique targeting/trail mechanics. removed DOUBLE JUMPING with dagger vocations. No end-game content/are for grinding and acquiring unique gear like the Everfall chambers and Ur-Dragon boss fight. A lot of skills and magics were removed, maelstrom being nerfed hurts my soul. It's supposed to pull enemies in and send them hurling into the sky and back down in a pile, now it just launches them in every direction and you lose the body to loot
I actually hate Dragon's Dogma 2 but I still played it out of respect for the first game. If I ever met Itsuno I'd want to beat the ever loving shit out of him for getting my hopes up to the point I actually cried with joy when he took off his shirt showing "Dragon's Dogma 2" and announced the game way back when
Oh no, they're suffering with.. being one of the best selling games in company history, unlike Faggot's Flopma 2.
Anyone who makes lists like this is an unhinged autist
I am an unhinged autist, that's why I made those lists. What's your point, that my complaints aren't warranted because I have autism and I'm unhinged? Yet here you are giving your opinion, probably worse off than I am and I'm supposed to what, be offended by your "insult"?
Game still runs like shit even on good hardware and Shitsuno left. Who fucking cares, should've died with DD1.
expecting crapcum to release a functional PC port/version
lol
lmao
Embarrassing that Fromsoft beat them to the punch on actually making progress on PC versions of games. AC6 ran 120FPS max settings day 1 for me with basically no issues save for the massive particle explosion shit which frame drops everyone, and they are notorious for having awful PC version. AC6 was the first game they released that didn't have physics tied to FPS and locked at 60fps max. Crapcum has been releasing on PC for longer and they still can't do their absolute darling MonHun right and each release save for Rise, which was far less taxing on systems, ran like total shit World and Wilds, it's fucking embarrassing.
This abandoned ass series by comparison will never, EVER run properly until GPUs 5-10 years from now can brute force through it's totally raped lack of optimization. Just like DD1, actually, that game STILL gave me and friends frame drops on 4000 series cards. Horrific.
Don't listen to that other anon autist bro, genuine input like this is what is seriously lacking from the sycophantic or vitriolic online vidya discussions
Thats the thing, it didnt flop, but Capcom NEVER wanted to make DD, they would rather put resources into something like another Monster Hunter than to DD. Even with the first game the only guy that wanted to make DD2 planned to quit before DMC5 came out, but he was promised that if he made DMC5 he would get to make DD2, the game he actually wanted to make. Then Capcom pulled a fast one and instead of pushing back the release date they just rushed it to meet a release, and now you have a game that launched without "new game" on the fucking start screen and was unoptimized as fuck(its better now but it was heinous on release) lol, and Itsuno followed through on leaving Capcom.
Make no mistake, the game is woefully unfinished, but Capcom is basically Japans EA, if they dont like the game they will try to fuck it, so they can take the staff from one department and put them in the money printer mines, which is what happened. Kinoshita, the guy that made BBI independent of Itsuno, is now the lead of the game, this might be the best thing for DD but if Capcom doesnt want to make more, Kinoshita is probably not going to fight for it.
If I ever met Itsuno I'd want to beat the ever loving shit out of him
I'm still wondering about how much of this was his own fault. Shit like the music choice and the DEI character design screams Crapcom execs micromanging shit because that's what their MHWorld focus group told them to do. The game doesn't feel like a pure directors work, as DD1 did. Feels more like a Marvel film where it is obvious the director's leash is being held tightly by the studio's management.
