You're right, but neither does the PS5 yet it still demands you have HDMI 2.1 for 120 FPS games. That's a case of the PS5 always outputting at 4K even if the internal resolution in game or the system's setting for resolution is put lower. I've not seen any clarity on what Switch 2 will require so I'm not banking on being able to use 120 FPS on my 1080/144 monitor.

I feel like I lucked out by committing to Best Buy as my only option ahead of time.
