Well I didn't know if there was a more efficient method out there than just copy-pasteing everything into a flashdrive. My motherboard only has room for 1 SSD so I'd rather just clean house and replace than have both or put one on an HDD.

I assume you are using a laptop, but in any case, an SSD is a substantial upgrade to a working system. SSDs are cheap, and the downsides are too few to not consider upgrading. You can still use your HDD as a cold storage with a SATA3 to usb cable if you want

If you have multiple partitions, Linux can read NTFS, so you can keep your data there. Otherwise look through your data and think what you really "need" to carry over, and get an external storage of an appropriate size.

No, because there has never been a linux distro that was specifically developed as an alternative/competitor for Windows.

mint is literally designed to be a distro you can almost exclusively navigate and use functionally through a GUI.
it is almost 1:1 parity with windows, the toughest part is learning what the equivalent of windows is in terms of linux.
