Admit it: it was the best

Admit it: it was the best.

Not as good as 15, the actual best FF

Zodiac

No.

it's not even a real FF game, it's an Ivalice spinoff.

Yes, yes, very nice. BUTT please consider the following: FFXII was the first and ONLY Final Fantasy specifically aimed at ass men. IX showed a single spark of it, but it wasn't until XII that the booty got proper representation by the entirety of the playable female cast.
And this is precisely why FFXII is adored the world around by gamers of both superior intellect and taste. While the boys were ogling the big bouncing breasts plaguing the series since the advent of 3D with FFVII, the men had gambits on, Fran+Penelo+Ashe in the party, Bubble (butt) status on at all times, and the camera near the floor, tilted slightly upwards to admire the best behinds ever put into a Final Fantasy game.

BUTT please consider the following

I didn't read the rest of your post.

I've heard mixed reviews, but it's in my steam library. Is it actually good or is this a bait thread?

Any review of 12 that isn’t at least “good” is objectively wrong
It can definitely not be your favorite FF, but it’s undoubtedly a well made and fun experience
Anyone who dunks on it is probably ESL, unironically

I mean, 6 is one of my favorite games of all time. So is 4, but I didn't really like the PSX games. I dropped both 7 and 8 way back when. I'm kinda turned off by FF as a result, but I do really like Tactics so I'm not bothered by the Ivalice shit.

It aged badly

game so bad the devs had to include an emulator style universal speedup button because literally every aspect of it takes too long

ff12 has always just been an offline version of ff11 but without that games unique mechanics like skillchains and magic bursts, instead you watch your characters auto attack or cast the 1 spell over and over while farming the same three enemies and unlike doing that in ff11 you can't even chat with the lads or a stay at home mom. it was quite literally the first overhyped overbudgeted bad final fantasy game that started the series downward decline and a decade of faggy western journalists saying all japanese games are bad actually for a straight decade

My motivation for the Gambit system was... If you wanted to play an online game by yourself, if you still wanted all the party members to act exactly the way you want them to... That kind of desire is what led to the Gambit system.

TZA is the definition of wasted potential. the skill board changes were a nice idea but they literally forgot to rebalance the game and the result is a laughingly easy game to the point of being cinematic mode, ruining every bit of challenge the game had. and mind you the point of an "open world" game like this is the post end content.

my recommendation to everyone who wants to play it is the PS2 vanilla version of the game. hard ignore the TZA. IJZS is the second best choice but even that is not really good.

Final_Fantasy_XII_USA_PS2_DVD

plays perfectly on the emulator and of course og hardware.

60fps

Nope.

Not even the best Ivalice game.

pretty much a final fantasy crpg people wont appreciate it really should have been the direction final fantasy went in

it had potential, and Matsuno is good at world building and plotting. but he is not good at writing characters who exist outside of their specific political objective. whenever the group get together they just talk about their objective again. there's no emotional depth or even just fun goofy stuff about vaan, penelo, basch, ashe, etc. so it lacks heart. there's nothing equivalent to the band playing at fisherman horizon in 8, or the dress up in 7. unless we count the extremely cringe i'm captain basch sequence

just need one more esper so everyone has one. havent been using them because of that

Nah. It's one of the top 10 best looking games ever made.

FF

challenge

huh

oh boy does time fly by when you are having fun. I literally bought the PS4 for XV and XII. I had fun with both. XII is indeed too easy and not as good the PS2 version. XV was insanely satisfying because as a guy that had been following the development train wreck since 2006, I could finally play the game that blue balled the weeb world for an entire decade. mind you I said satisfying -for the aforementioned reason- and not good. the summons were impressive.

so it lacks heart.

cringe i'm captain basch sequence

Hopefully a patch will bring it in line with the xbox version. Or has. Xbox version had 60fps and the ability to play the original system, no zodiac job cancer. Or so i've been told.

I bought it for PS2 and PS4 as well. Would be nice to turn off texrure filtering so everything was pixelated.

FF12 was back when they made final perfecr products. Later changes only fucking things up. Good system maybe. Cyberpunk proves it's not always best that way.

Also some other best looking games so far:

Splinter Cell
Kane & Lynch
The Darkness
GRAW 2
Cyberpunk 2077
Homefront: The Revolution
The Division
Shadow of the Colossus
Ecco: Dotf
The Getaway
Killzone
Killzone 2
Vagrant Story
Resident Evil 4
Killer 7

Thinking about it 12 wasn't perfect. The end boss wasn't memorable. You didn't go to enough places. Maybe enough, just the end area and boss was dissapointing. Crystal area before was ok. Kind of expectdd it tonend there. I didn't/couldn't follow the story and it was btter that way. Thats what you want. For it to seem like theres a lot going on. You a little but crucial and pivotal part. The part that gets to the end. Hidden, or just story tends to be concerned with that, everyone getting their own version maybe. End is when there can be a new beginning.

it's a really great game. it was the last ff to really make you explore on your own and figure stuff out as you go. the only drawbacks are that you have to save at crystals and there are so many glitches and trial-and-error mechanics that it can suck to replay huge chunks over and over again. also the job board system was insanely complicated and i didn't like it

why else would you play ff12 except for the gameplay when the story is literally unfinished because matsuno left halfway through development so a ton of characters and setup just go nowhere to instead have vayne turn into a big spooky monster because the slightly more morally ambigious god then the other morally ambigious gods was backing him. literally half the characters in the party are completely irrelevent to the actual story and the other half are just different drafts of matsuno trying to make a protagonist and constantly getting shut down by square because market research requires a faggy boyband member

boring world

terrible story where you're never the center of it, merely a passenger

forgettable soundtrack

gambit system p cool/interesting

hunts were clearly best part

job system bad

Wasted potential, I've never really understood the hype around it. Bunny girl is hot though.

yes it did

I'm not final fantasy 16 fan (it's a great sleeping pill I guess) but the voice acting in that game is fantastic

>best cast that's unique and equally important

heh

hehhhhh

I like how it went back to the formula of having no real main character.
Like from 4 onward there was always the singular MAIN protagonist, but I couldn't struggle to find one this time.

There wasn't one in 6.

but muh terra

Not in World of Ruin.

but muh celes

Not after she leaves the island and starts finding the party.

but muh locke

Really, nigga?

Tactics/Gambits are a great system for controlling party members. Guess they aren't done more because everyone expects thenoptimal actons to be done automatically, ai to think for them/itself. Players led around like COD, by team mates rather than being in control, up to you not to make bad decisions.

Deciding how you want to play could be fun. Like GRAW, but with a squad that acts as you want thwm to with pre prepared orders/taxtics (gambits). Wander around a world doing your thing whatever that is. Effective if you've thought things out. And or had the experiences that made you wiser, showing you what you need to do, need to set, whats mist important in different situations, whats needed.

That's not FFVIII

the judges themes were the best boss soundtracks

Fran is love
Fran is life

shes so freakin hot

? Ashe is the main character.

Penelo, Fran, and Vaan are just along for the ride.

Reminder Ashe ends up marrying Larsa

Vayne Solidor did nothing wrong.
