I can only play an RPG if it features adults and looks realistic

I can only play an RPG if it features adults and looks realistic.

If it looks like it's too anime, it's icky.

When did this notion start gaining traction?

anime destroys the credibility of all art because its designs are babyish and made for the lowest common denominator: mentally ill people.

Since normal people started playing RPGs around the time of Oblivion

Define "normal."

When did this notion start gaining traction?

No notion, little bro, just instinct. I for one am similarly repulsed by homosexuals in the same manner as anime. I'm sorry not everyone is interested in your gay little cartoons, gangster.

Most westerners are uninterested in or repulsed by anime. Think average person on the street, not the quiet kid in school

make ugly characters

defame anime women out of jealousy

Redditors are gonna reddit as shown here

Anime is divided by target demographics.

Shonen is for boys.
Shojo is for girls.
Seinen is for adult men.
Josei is for adult women.

I don't watch anime. I just don't those who do.

judge those who do*

No one has ever said this.

Stop arguing with yourself.

When did this notion start gaining traction?

about 20 years ago, zoomie

It's less about it looking like anime and more about it having terrible fucking writing. Not saying Clair 33 writing is amazing, but it's far more bearable than the average JRPG coming from Japan.

Nobody is going to remember any of the characters from this slop

>If it looks like it's too anime, it's icky.

I feel like you'll try to deflect anything, but i don't feel like HxH for example, suffers from the "too anime" problem. Maybe it's because the story and characters are actually interesting and not one dimensional like in jrpg's. If they start making games like that, where the story is not a literal joke with mustache twirling villains and waifus everywhere, power of friendship, etc, maybe people will start taking these anime games more seriously

i can't enjoy games unless it has fanservice

better yet expedition 33 expanded the stale ass genre by making combat more engaging and writing characters that aren't designed for 12 year old boys

Action commands are not new.

Solution: stop playing games aimed at teenagers and play ones made for adults

And HxH is a shonen I.E. made for teen boys

cartoon stylized little girls are for incels, i only get aroused by realistic children

The way it usually happens is

buy rpg

it has chinese cartoon graphics, pretty cute

writing is fucking horrible, barely a story by western childrens' book standards, no characterization past "angry" or "shy", just endless vividly colored dolls lining up to tell you you're so cool

ok, maybe if i buy one with an adult on the cover it'll be a game for adults

Apparently, you've missed the discourse from people with that exact sentiment, acting as if this game is the first ever RPG with adults and acting like they can FINALLY play a JRPG now.

I've literally never seen it happen apart from obvious bait threads.

Caring about whether a game is "for adults" or not is actually childish. Play what you want and stop giving a shit about what others might think.

And HxH is a shonen I.E. made for teen boys

It doesn't matter if it's a shonen or not, the point is that the quality of the narrative and the way the story is written matter, and these anime games are bottom of the barrel in these aspects.

Go on twitter

You think adults stop watching Barney out of peer pressure and not because it no longer fulfils their standards?

fpbp

I don't mind playing anime JRPGs, the issue is that they're fucking shit 90% of the time. E33 isn't a marvel because it doesn't have an anime artstyle, it's because they actually made a JRPG that wasn't garbage.

Lol. 90% of JRPG characters have 0 lasting appeal with 9% being carried by nostalgia. Joker was the last big JRPG character to have a huge fanbase and the vast majority of Persona fans online never played his fucking game.

1000026303.gif - 640x640, 3.8M

Last I checked, Tales of Vesperia wasn't aimed at toddlers.

I've heard more people complain about this "notion" than people actually voicing it.

I try not to

The characters being adults means absolutely nothing.

People hyped Kaiju No. 8 for having a protagonist in his 30s, but he and the rest of the "adult" characters act no differently than the teenagers in other shonens.

A character has to be good for anyone to have nostalgia for them.

I prefer more stylized artstyle but it's refreshing to see protagonists that aren't some high school aged cumstains.

There's plenty of that even in anime. It's called seinen. Stop consuming media that you know is made for teenagers and complaining about the characters being teenagers.

When was the last time you played that?

Twitter tards who want to be taken "seriously" when they game. They think anime girls with big tits is beneath them.
Personally, because I am a well-rounded person, I think there is room for all genres and I can enjoy every genre in a different way. I enjoy what Clair Obscur has to offer, a JRPG experience with a mature tint to it. I can also enjoy a JRPG with big anime titties. Variety is the spice of life.

That said I discard all reddit opinions. I also think people who hate turn-based games are a lower class of people.

Lune's feet will be remembered longer than the party of your average JRPG. Hell, nevermind that: who remembers XVI's heroine and her non-personality anymore?

I agree with you but why would you post the ENG dub version?

I only play anime games then played this and liked it. Sometimes it’s nice to get a break from the same anime tropes I’ve seen since high school

IMG_1288.jpg - 850x902, 102.98K

E33 is as anime as it gets. The only difference is that it copies seinen anime instead of shonen.

And yet practically no JRPG tried to incorporate them outside of Paper Mario so much so they do feel new

This game is full of "anime tropes"

There is nothing here that isn't commonplace in stuff like Berserk or Vinland Saga

It's just how some people are. When I was growing up video games were considered a toy for children. Some adults see anime as cartoons and can't look beyond that. It's just automatically discounted. It's like how a zoomer will see a little skin and call something gooner bait and anyone that enjoys women not in burqas are porn addicts. It's a really shallow labelling tool in the brain that people use to not have to invest too much energy into thinking about something critically.

It's good, but that doesn't mean every JRPG should become like it.
The problem I find with the characters especially the male ones is I thought they were all clones of each other.
Couldn't they not make a dude with a beard and wavy ear length hair? I know it's french, and in all honesty with how the plot was going it sounds intentional.

Also the problem with 3D QTErpgs with dynamic cameras is that sometimes you can't tell what's hitting you because gustave loves the camera.

that's mari

The problem I find with the characters especially the male ones is I thought they were all clones of each other

Two of them are directly related to each other to be fair.

When normgroids got involved.

Netflix RPG for the Game of Thrones fandom.

I've liked most FF games before FFX.
Loved most DQ games before DQX.
Really liked Persona 4. Couldn't stand Persona 5.
Found SMT Nocturne and SMTIV delightful.
Played through Tales of Symphonia as a kid and I remember liking it, but realize it probably won't hold up.

Which JRPG should I play next?

You sound like you haven't played the game and the way you imagine Expedition 33 to be doesn't match up with reality.

>I can only play an RPG if it features adults and looks realistic.

>If it looks like it's too anime, it's icky.

Yes.

The dialogue is more mature and intelligent than perona 3/4/5, SMT, and Xenoblade

IMG_1429.png - 435x595, 182.79K

it isn't
it's just netflix castlevania shit

Japs should never make games ever again

Chrono Trigger
Lufia 2

All the best and most important games coming out for the rest of the year are Japanese. The west has lost. Years ago. Only Rockstar is carrying all your slop over there.

The overly shiny and pretty look of anime makes it hard to ever consider it a serious plot about tragic concepts. Sometimes it works but most anime is very superficial. You watch it for cute feel good stories.

Trannies are getting their dirty mitts on JRPG now. Concerning.

This notion doesn't exist you're strawmanning hard. People have playes JRPGs for decades about high school settings with shitty anime unity tier graphics, me included. Having a good change in pace using a better engine with more realistic graphics and a mature story come around and be successful tells you that it can work though and the industry should be looking at more settings and ideas rather than locking the genre into a T ratind game about high school

All the best and most important games coming out for the rest of the year are Japanese.

I don't give shit about other games, the west just clowned Japan at their pet genre. It's over, Japs need to pack it up and go home.

Too many said it in ironic jest.
The idiots felt like they're in good company and the sentiment prevails.

Joker was the last big JRPG character to have a huge fanbase and the vast majorit

Last and only really. No one remembers anything else about jrpgs. Every MC is some generic bland thing.

e33.png - 489x195, 15.13K

NTA but you're retarded. It's definitely more intelligent than your average atlus game and damn neae everything is smarter than any Xeno game you're coping and being a forced contrarian so here's the (YOU) that's apparently so desperately needed

retard

Around the time Final Fantasy XIII came out, when the media began crusading against Eastern games and began seriously shilling Western games.

FF13 was trash

Wish people would stop trying to force this narrative. As an Expedition 33bro I don't see it as clowning JP but setting an example of what's possible and what can sell. Imagine if this opens the market for JRPGs to finally step up out of the shitty anime style and lean more towards FF or RE style more realistic engines and slap in actually well thoughout plots that aren't >le bad guy did a bad thing

Be positive about this bro it doesn't have to be them vs us it can be beneficial to everyone

Nobody cares if it's anime or not, however there are studies that prove that autists can only engage with anime styled characters because they can't read expressions on a normal human face.
Probably some of these autists are unhappy about this game right now and are false flagging.

Final Fantasy XIII

tried it

story is nonsensial and chaotic like all japanese games where they favor style and visuals than any coherent plot

never finished it and never would.

Japs can't write

Sure, but that's not really relevant to the conversation. It's just the answer to his question. That's when the notion that "anime" = bad started gaining traction.

If this is true it actually makes so much sense looking at your average JRPG fan actually even looking at your average anime game fan this is fucking mind blowing

Anon you shouldn't be on mobile devices saying stuff like this

woo-woo-woo-woo-woo! nevron! no heckin distractions chungus, i'm le busy beating up strangers epic style! i don't need pointers ermmm from someone sitting on his lazy ar*se???

It's Netflix slop.

That notion is right.

Wait.

Do people unironically think anime style is a red flag?

Like. Sure. Anime as a medium, especially now, sucks.

But just an anime art style is enough to turn people off? How is that even a thing? Or is it just insecurity?

Nice reddit spacing fag

The faces are so fucking ugly. I cannot believe I considered making a purchase

Japs can't write endings

Fify there's alot of great jp stories out there. Nisioisn, Oshimi Shuzo Asano Inio, Asaga Iori to name a few of my favorites but these slant eyed niggers always botch the ending. The real issue is they always have some isekai tier writer on JRPG storylines

Tranny I would still love E33 if it looked like fucking Wakfu, which btw is the closest frogs have gotten to animu

f44saffd.png - 751x425, 392.99K

Anime is a medium, so it can't be bad, only individual works can be.

So then why is every anime retarded slop?

The whole fucking point of anime characters is that they're deliberately exaggerated and not like real human beings. That's the appeal.

There's no point in trying to emulate reality because reality already exists.

Oh yeah, show me a Seninen JRPG from the last decade

Wait, Anon Babble hates E33?

Why does Anon Babble hate E33? I don't think it's the best game, but it's definitely an objectively good one. There's definitely no reason to hate it or to shitpost it.

It isn't, see There's anime for every age and gender demographic.

false narrative

"anime" isn't the problem. the reason japanime is on the way out is for the same reason jap live action is DOA. japs are so overexposed to cringe shit that they can no longer see where the line is.

genshin_klee.png - 602x582, 116.77K

It's ugly. The tone is ugly, the people are ugly, their personalities are ugly, I shit on it for a lot of the same reasons I shit on Mass Effect Andromeda. I also hate how obviously astroturfed it is.

It's just FF7fags that hate it.

It's true, it's easier for autists to categorize emotions if it's exaggerated anime characters over reacting. It makes a lot of sense yeah.
It doesn't mean all JRPG and anime fanboys are autists tho.

Where did this forced narrative came that E33 looks realistic?

Grr it's netflix SLOP now excluse me while I power of friendship through Persoyna 5 again

Hey, I'm at the island with the masks, how much I have left to do?
I'm starting to get a bit bored

I feel like the appeal can be the story too, and maybe Japanese exoticism.

Persona 5 is shit, too? Multiple games can be bad, anon.

It's ugly. The tone is ugly, the people are ugly

That's what I thought before I played it. I thought it looked like a really ugly Tim Burton crossover with Disney, but having actually played it, it's nothing like that, and the artstyle grew on me. If you say it's ugly, that shows to me that you have not actually played it, because that's what I thought before I played it as well.

their personalities are ugly

False. You haven't played the game.

I see. That would make a lot of sense, actually. They do tend to ruin all vaguely RPG discussion. I wish they would just move on. Unfortunately, SE threw them a bone with the Remake, which only renewed their vigor and probably even spawned some zoomer incarnations of their brand of cancer.

Ah yes, Paper Maryo, the most realistic of vidya.

You've got another slightly larger level, then a huge level. A few bosses in between although prepare for some lengthy fights and scenes.

always botch the ending.

Its amazing how many animes and anime movies completely botch the ending. Its like they dont put any effort into it.

If you just play the story and don't do any side content, you've got like 3 more dungeons left before you beat the game, depending on whether or not you already fought the other boss.

That's because what's appealing in anime becomes cringe in live action. Anime and live action are different mediums with different strengths.

Does everyone who hates anything Japanese or anime just exclusively stick to media older than fifteen years or are they retards who consume modern western slop and have zero self awareness?

always botch the ending

Expedition 33 also botches the ending. It took queues from standard JRPGs in that regard.

queues

japanime is on the way out

by what metric, genshinigger?

Yeah, "cues", my bad. My hands just type words that sound like what I'm thinking. Sometimes it blends them together even.

but having actually played it, it's nothing like that, and the artstyle grew on me

Sunk cost fallacy. You say someone doesn't like it because they haven't played it. I say you only like it because you have.

this is a dogshit argument regardless of game, of course you need to play a game to know if you like it

Do you realize that you are inadvertently admitting that you, in fact, did not play the game? I guess the people who are shitposting E33 are just people who haven't played it. I wonder if the other guy saying it's just FF7fags shitposting yet another game is right.

Sunk cost fallacy

I pirated it, and I enjoyed it, and I do not think it is ugly, which is something I did think before I played it.

I really liked the gameplay ff13-2. But monster collecting shit always gets me

literal retard realizes that people need to actually experience something to know whether or not they like it

Endings have always largely been terrible, because the writer doesn't have the ending planned out when they start writing

It's always been that way, since forever
Heck up to this day people get super mad about you ponting out that Dark Souls/Demon souls are JRPGs

comic relief moments vs general attitude

its not possible to like this game AND anime jrpgs because... its just not ok! you have to fall into my arbitrary forced dichotomy ! nah fuck off faggot. I love jrpgs, in fact its most of what I play. This game feels similar to FF VIII, Lost Odyssey, and Shadow Hearts. Not every jrpg is fucking dragon quest slop.

What causes someone who has never and will never play a particular video game to spend hours of their life shitposting about it after having watched parts of it on YouTube?

seething about things on the internet distracts them from having to think about their vapid, soulless empty lives

Yeah, I genuinely don't understand why the fuck people act like Expedition 33 is clowning on Japan or making it an E33 vs the Entire Japanese Game Industry argument. The game is obviously infatuated with JRPGs and everybody that worked on it seems to be obsessed with them. The reason I like E33 so much is BECAUSE it's so similar to older JRPGs that I like and that you can tell the devs had a lot of passion for them. There's constant references to them even beyond the mechanical similarity.

France and Japan have been passionately making love (culturally) for decades and people are losing their minds that a French video game is obviously in love with Japanese video games.

Good ending bros... we'll never get a dub in our media...

its a false dichotomy made by people who just like to seethe about things. theres no reason to think e33 isnt a homage and celebration of jrpgs just because it doesnt fall into the tropes that some of them do. jrpgs are not monolithic, they arent all over the top cringe

So true bros we should all be teaming up against the real enemies, Triple A rpgs, weggers and gachasloppers...

That is true and the editors make them spin out the popular series forever to make money it becomes stupid.

Look Outside's perfect ending is by far the best video game ending of any recent game I can remember. I can't remember the last time I was so completely an utterly satisfied by a video game ending. It's been a long time.

ACTUAL SPOILERS

Do not click this image if you ever plan on playing Look Outside

I'll check it out after work, thanks for the rec bro. For me? Best endings I've seen recently probably from clearing both Syserasure games a few months back. Good tie in lore between them too.

HxH for example

HXH doesn't suffer from it because it doesn't have modern anime dogshit character designs. The vast majority of anime have an extremely lazy artstyle with awful generic character designs. I'm a visual guy and when I see a team of generic anime moeblob character designs it puts me off. You also know that if the character designs are generic, the rest of it probably will be as well.

it's more mature than Persona

NO
FUCKING
SHIT

You may as well have said "It's more mature than Pokemon". Yeah, because Pokemon is a fucking kids game and Persona is young adult fiction. E33 is not the only JRPG written without those audiences as the primary target.

This is why you people are so annoying. No fucking shit if you compare it to the most teen fiction franchise in the entire genre it'll compare like that, you dumbass.

This game is pretty "anime" though.

I vividly remember this exact line of dialouge

Oh great anon, Sage unc of times past. Please bestow an iota of your wisdom upon this thread and share other JRPGs with adult characters and mature themes.

Xenogears
Vagrant Story
Valkyrie Profile
Lost Odyssey
Black Souls

Literally all slop 33 fans say this

Thanks babe I'll check them out in a bit

There are different types of anime games. For example. Persona and Metaphor and Fire Emblem are all cringey weeb shit. But FF7 Rebirth is not cringe or weeb.

But FF7 Rebirth is not cringe or weeb.

Rebirth absolutely is, the originals arent.

That's how it's always been.
Normies and women have always avoided anything that looks japanese.

Seinen is for adult men.

Josei is for adult women.

This is BS.
The difference between Seinen/Josei and Shounen/Shojo is furigana in the manga.
Seinen/Josei doesn't have it, as it is designed for people who know all the Kanji.
Which, means 15 year olds - because that's when they finish learning it at school.

Seinen/Josei is absolutely not for adults. It's the exact same childish nonsense it just doesn't have furigana.

when a lot of the gayming audience stopped being literal teenagers in love with KH at the 00s, as much as they would still love to return to that time

There's anime for every age and gender demographic.

People say that all the time but i've been studying japanese for nearly 6 years now, reading manga literally every day.

99.9% of it is aimed at 8-15 year olds.
Almost nobody on the planet and certainly nobody on Anon Babble has read or even heard of any of this so called "manga for adults".

Just because media has some violence or boobs in it, doesn't mean it's for adults.

100% correct and based.

Every journalist and NPC on social media has been proclaiming "finally a JRPG without icky teenagers in it"

Good taste, bro. Syserasure 2’s final act completely blew me away — that slow unraveling of the meta-narrative was insane, and the way it mirrored the first game’s themes while still escalating everything? Masterclass. Hope you enjoy Look Outside just as much, it hits different but still sticks the landing. Let me know what you think once you finish.

That cant be true, a lot of the gaming audience are nintendo fags and realistic graphics make them heave.

Its when westoid journos hijacked the game's success to make it an opportunity to bash Japs because theyre bottomfeeders who cant help themselves. All thr more reasons Journos going out of business is never a bad thing

Most people posting here and that actually grew up with anime and also videogames + internet in their height during the 90s/00s are literally 30+ now.
You just stop caring about teens saving the world as soon as you hit 30

There's a lot more to writing than characters.

Im 39. I dont give a shit the ages, genders or ages of the people involved as long as the writing is good enough to make it enjoyable. I do admit I enjoy watching older protags when possible but I dont shun younger characters just because im an old man.

Problem is these young characters often act extremely retarded, especially in settings like Persona 3-5, especially how obnoxious and absolutely out of touch it is to have them go against adults when they have absolutely zero actual life experience
I can't see how it wouldn't take a toll on anyone past 30

since 2005 when japanese media went full unironic pedo with 5 little girls doing x in everything. you're an unironic pedophile if you associate with that shit

Characters are the lifeblood of these games. If you cant care for any of the characters, no one will be invested with your story no matter how novel or grand it is.

He's right. The reason anime characters appeal to autists is because the exaggerated expressions and spelling out of everything with endless exposition makes things easy to understand for people with autism.

Every single person I know who loves this game is a literal unironic tranny. Why is that?

Sometime after the Japanese spent decades pandering to pedos

Why are you hanging out with trannies?

I don't get why people think Japan doesn't make JRPGs that have visuals that aren't anime/stylistic and/or have adult protagonists at all. It's not as common, but they do exist and get made.

Because they didnt sell. Just look at Lost Odyssey or Resonance of Fate if you want an example that wasnt stuck on the 360.

And who do you have to blame for that? They tried not spelling out motivations and reasons with Persona 4 and its still singlehandedly the most misunderstood JRPG when every single "media literacy" types keep making the most bullshit and ignorant reading of the characters or how even shadows work. Its one of the reasons why Persona 5 spoonfeeds you information to a comedic degree.

This game really drew in all the Twitter/Reddit normies complaining about anime artstyles and anime tropes being in goddamn JRPG. I enjoyed the game, but E33 fags are insufferable

Almost nobody on the planet and certainly nobody on Anon Babble has read or even heard of any of this so called "manga for adults".

Yes they have. There's two entire categories for it. Seinen for men and Josei for women.

These labels exist for a reason.

No, the difference is in themes and narrative depth. Seinen and Josei are allowed to explore themes and concepts that shonen and shojo aren't or that those audiences wouldn't find appealing.

That's the point. It's a coming of age story.

Writers have a lot more freedom with teenage characters than adult ones because the former are still at a stage where they can grow and develop.

damn every day I read a new exxciting dumb thing on Anon Babble

The words Seinen and Josei literally mean "adult man/woman", they are absolutely aimed at adults

the dialogue and character interactions in E33 by themselves blows anything you'd find in a typical jrpg out of the water

The reason I like E33 so much is BECAUSE it's so similar to older JRPGs that I like and that you can tell the devs had a lot of passion for them

that is exactly why people are clowning on Japan. The Japs have become an incestuous ouroboros taking reference from otaku-pandering slop to make more otaku-pandering slop for too long than the Frogs have beat them at their own game.

another thread confirming that people would just pass on this game if it had japanese credits

Vesperia's take on trying to fix a corrupt government from the inside and the outside feels much better than the fake jrpg about muh loss/depression shit E33 does (Vesperia loses this because the Duke shit feels like it comes out of nowhere if you dont do certain sidequest). Yuri mogs both protags in E33 and Judith is just superior Sciel in every way.

should've replaced the japanese names in the credits with french names

Not really

Nobody will remember any of these characters years from now

Games literally a persona 5 reskin. Why are people applauding this?

If anything its the reverse. Literally everything about E33 is derivative from older JRPGs, but somehow its "fresh" just because it isnt made by Japs and isnt in anime artstyle. Yes, lets forget the game that the devs based it on

escapism bad, japan: -_-

escapism bad, frenchman: :O

You're full of shit

Berserk is for adults, and everyone knows it

JoJo too. It started as a shonen, but transitioned into seinen

Yes, it does get revieved differently when a non retarded characters is the one doing the delivery

Please explain precisely what it copies from persona

It’s a trope in Japanese media that reflects how their society works. It’s made that way on purpose to make sure people aren’t forgetting where they are/should be while enjoying their hobbies.

13-19 are your sort of “hero” years. Where you can be the main character out on adventures, having youthful flings, and figuring out who you’re going to be. Once you’re an actual adult in your 20s you’re meant to be established in a profession and starting to act as a senior, sharing experience with the incoming new class of adults. Once you hit 30 all the exploration and character development is behind you as you’ve long since settled into where you’ll be in your career for the majority of it. Your story is over. Except for a couple of later promotions you’ve done what you’re going to do. You’re a background, supporting character now.

that's what I'm saying

if that game got a PC port everyone would shit on it or just ignore it

they should consider putting a "made in france" label on it if they ever make a pc port

Battle philosophy of 1 button: do thing instead of navigating through menus. Its not the first time devs did this, the Persona 5 UI saves a lot of time

ss_02.jpg - 1280x720, 159.87K

That king of UI should be the standard for turn based games yet for some fuckass reason most japs can't figure out that there's more than 3 buttons on a controller

Personally it´s almost the exact opposite for me. I like my RPGs too be too anime or, failing that, to have recognizable stylized art styles. Like DQ, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Tales of Arise, The nier games or even Soulstice and Folklore... in a less anime note stuff like Child of light, Astria Ascending, sea of stars, or octopath may also do it for me.

That said if the art design is good i don´t mind realism but honestly it ain´t that high on my list. Expedition caught my attention because of the dream like world and the somewhat like Shadow Hearts combat. I also kind of like the old school overworld map.

I'd sooner die than think that way. I'm serious, I really do feel that strongly about it. Realistic aesthetic is, generally speaking, utter garbage.

I liked Clair Obscur but I enjoyed it in spite of its main cast being grimy and ugly, not BECAUSE of it. For me, it was interesting and engaging enough for me to see past that flaw.

When did this notion start gaining traction?

I expect the average normalfaggot to have shit taste so I'd say it was when RPGs started gaining more popularity amongst them.

Simmering under the surface for a long time, just like enwerd fatigue. All it took was a spark to make it ok to let out what had been bottled up for so long.

Reminder that the people in the previous thread who sided with Maelle are the biggest retards on this board right now.

Retarded shittaste apes in human skin.

When I grew out of anime 20+ years ago.

Guys who don’t wear striped thigh highs.

Yeah, if it was japanese 90% of the cast would be Maelle's age except act like complete stereotypes, and the Paintress would have been defeated by the power of friendship as everyone inside ascended to become real beings in the real world because.. uh... because for some magical reason they found the strength to exist inside themselves
And there wouid also be some annoying bitchy underage cunt calling the MC a pervert constantly

I can't imagine being retarded enough to come to a image board that was made to cater to people with anime and japanese interest and posting stuff like that

They're also anime teenagers, her dad's death aside, Mitsuru acts like a 40 year old that's been de-aged to 18.

JoJo too. It started as a shonen, but transitioned into seinen

JoJo was shounen for 20 fucking years retard. Parts 1-6 and a fifth of Part 7 are shounen.
The only reason it switched magazines was so that it could be published monthly.

Anon Babble is one person

Shut up, retard. People like you will create any strawman to try and ruing any discussion of a game.

Like. Sure. Anime as a medium, especially now, sucks.

I love it when retards on Anon Babble who have seen maybe 20 anime try to espouse like they know anything about the medium.
The current season is quite literally the best one we've gotten since 2007 at LEAST.

by what metric,

By reading the room.
Anime as a whole has been in a bubble period since 2019. A collision of several factors occurred starting there that are setting the anime industry in Japan for an imminent collapse by the end of this decade.

Animator sweatshop work

As usual, but it's getting worse today. Currently due to how studios and production committees have altered production, people don't learn on the job anymore, so new talent isn't learning from old talent. A lot of new talent is also hired directly from twitter and never sets foot in a company office, which strains relations further.

Kadokawa Infinite Money Scheme

Kadokawa is the biggest producer of anime, if you look at a season of anime they're generally involved in over half the shit releasing.
This is because they have a pipeline.
They run a WN site.
From that site, they select popular works to be published as LNs under their label(s).
From there, the popular LNs then get adapted into manga, again under a Kadokawa label.
An anime adaptation of the work is soon to follow.

Through this, Kadokawa essentially owns all aspects of the work and gets the lion's share in all merch and sales of it, but despite this it is still hemorrhaging money as was seen last year when it was scared about a Chinese company literally buying it out. Not helping its inability to actually make money is how reliant much of their works are on the western markets being involved in this pipeline- tariffs on media means this entire avenue dries up, and the production company employing the majority of the industry goes bye-bye.

China/Korea

This one is more obvious.
Chinese animations and Korean webtoons are just getting more popular. That's a reality. The most popular "anime" of the year so far was an S2 for a Korean series. The most popular anime of this season are an American backed Japanese show and a Chinese series.
Again, by 2030, China will likely be outpacing Japan in animation.

chinkshill textwall

Yeah I'm not reading that

asks for proof

post proof

"u-uh yeah, textwall!"

This isn't even a controversial realization, Tomino Yoshiyuki called this back in what, 2020?
The Japanese anime industry for years has been accelerating with no regard for anyone actually working in the industry or for the longevity of it, and it continually makes itself less enticing for young people to enter- one of the most well known young animators working on anime today isn't even Japanese, they're French. It's absurd.

I know retards on Anon Babble like to LARP as anime fans occasionally and act like skinwalkers, but if you actually had any interest in the industry you would know we're heading for the whole scene being like Toei in the 2010s.

desu, the problem with most JRPGs isn't that they "look like anime". It's that they're incredibly mediocrely written, and refuse to break away from the same basic character tropes we're all sick of by now.

here's your ragtag band of teenagers, your shy girl, your sexy girl, your doofy friend, and your cool enigmatic older character

here's your generic evil empire, and your villain who either wants to become god, or is god

here's your super special magical trait that only you have access to

If you've played Chrono Trigger or FF7, you get the idea. There's very little in the way of surprises left to be had with that genre.

if Persona 5 had an option at the end of the game to use the power to fix the world proper then it'd be so much less shitty and cucked

we have to like, rebel against society to fix it!

wait no, not like that! not a no strings attached way to fix the world!

<---- this has becoming more and more true ever single year
can't wait for some weeb third worlder to tell me that some anime about little girls having slumber parties is actually why anime is amazing currently

retard can't even upload an image

Why do Jews hate Japan so much?

Why anime isn't able to project realness anymore?

writing is fucking horrible, barely a story by western childrens' book standards, no characterization past "angry" or "shy", just endless vividly colored dolls lining up to tell you you're so cool

the same people saying this then defend localizers changing the script. Those very localizers are responsible for the writing these retards call horrible

So have you thought of the possibility that if the localizers actually did their job properly maybe your views on JRPGs would change in terms of writing since most of the games you're complaining about you only experienced through the localizers lens?

I felt embarrassed playing this game while reading the dialogue. I have never felt that way from an "anime" game. The games narrative and dialogue is well received by midwits who think themselves mature when viewing shallow pretentiousness.

Most JRPGs aren't written above a grade school level even in Japanese man.
The few that are aren't played by people here (the closest you get is Dragon Quest 7, and I can say about five people here have actually finished Dragon Quest 7).

You never played even one JRPG in your life. Stop trolling.

You haven't really raised up a single JRPG as being "one of the good ones" this entire thread.

I'll add that the gameplay is good, certainly not without flaws, and that's what is most important

Yeah, because I've just entered the thread. I also don't spend 12 hours a day sperging out on anonymous internet forums about digital toys like you.

Anyway. Actually play games from a specific genre and gain knowledge about it before saying anything about it. It will make you stop looking like a complete retard clown. I recommend starting with games that blow 33 out of the face of the earth. There's like 90 of them just from the 2000s. I recommend starting with Digital Devil Saga.

nuAnime art style post 2010 is so bad it poisons everything unless it's something with an actual unique artstyle

FPBP

char

characters say fuck

omg this is so mature just like my fake western anime slop garbage

Anti-japan poster are cringe retards

Yeah dumbass, my point was that most JRPGs don't go beyond a grade school level. Digital Devil Saga, like most Atlus games, also doesn't really escape that. SMT as a whole is like whenever another creative tries to update a Nagai or Ishikawa work for the modern day.
Not to say it's bad, but the entire point was that the writing of JRPGs has never been some massively impressive thing. Hell, the most recent SMT game (coincidentally the worst mainline one) had waves of defenders insisting the story never mattered in these titles because its narrative was so incredibly uninspired.

For me it's worse, I can't play any Japanese medieval fantasy game because it feels anachronistic and in violation of the typical norms laid out by western fantasy - these feelings are precisely why they collaborated with George RR Martin for Elden Ring I'm guessing, to attain the authenticity that's typically lacking in Japanese games.
Never touched a soulsborne because of it.

The most popular "anime" of the year so far was an S2 for a Korean series

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Anon, the most popular anime of the year so far is Medalist or Hyakano S2, close to that is Ave Mujica. SL doesn't even FACTOR into the top 3 just like it didn't even factor in the year S1 aired. It's shilled hard but the reality is no one cares about it.
It airs, gets shilled, ends and is forgotten almost instantly. That's it.
Just because a bunch of Koreans and Indians spammed downloads of it on torrents or viewbotted CR doesn't make it the AOTY or even AOTS.
Please just stop with the COPE, it's sad.

nuAnime art style post 2010

Retard finds out that generally each decade has specific stylistic flourishes within anime, because 90% of the medium is centered around merch sales.
Modern anime looks fine and your arbitrary cutoff is just a point where your nostalgia likely stops (see: you probably watched some shit like Gayass on broadcast TV).

Character says sugoi

OMG this is so deep

Yikes

Damn I really want to cum on Haru's forehead

This thread is filled with people who have watched 50 anime, never read a visual or light novel, read some shonen then wrote off Japanese art as a whole for pedos and autists. I gotta stop browsing Anon Babble and just stick to Anon Babble and Anon Babble I forgot how much you western trannies hate Japan. Moot would be ashamed, this is an anime website by the way. Please stream your suicides and tell your parents to link the catbox.

t. has only played Dragon Quest(rated CERO A for children) and Pokemon(also rated CERO A for children)

Based, fuck Anon Babble. This board is Anon Babble tier.

Anon, the most popular anime of the year so far is Medalist or Hyakano S2, close to that is Ave Mujica.

I'm sure it was on Anon Babble, a board currently being frequented by a maximum of 50 people per day, but we can view literal numbers for this stuff on various sites.

inb4 muh logging sites don't count because they don't

They're the only measure through which to do this.

MAL

SL season 2 had 571K users log it. That is 200K+ more users than the second place entry for popularity, Sakamoto Days.
In contrast to the anime you mentioned:
Hyakano 2 had 134K users.
Medalist had 62K users.
Ave Mujica had 26K users.

AniDB

SL2 had roughly 2500 users.
Hyakano 2 had roughly 800 users.
Medalist had roughly 500 users.
Ave Mujica had roughly 300 users.

Anilist

SL2 had 190K users.
Hyakano 2 had 48K users.
Medalist had 23K users.
Ave Mujica had 12K users.

Yeah, Dragon Quest is. And?
Those other games are typically only given a higher CERO rating because of more base reasons. Overt sexuality and violence are what net SMT and Final Fantasy their CERO Bs and Cs.

wahhhhh wahhhhh wahhhhh

nobody gives a shit about japan outside anime and manga. i hope it gets nuked again so you can see your slop country die and do the same, faggot

lists western database sites which the japs dont use, chinks use bangumi etc and gooks dont use.

Basically useless no?

Moot would be ashamed, this is an anime website by the way.

Moot wouldn't give a shit considering he hated every minute of working on this site for his last 3 years and sold the userbase out for a quick getaway.

It gets worse when you realize that the games they praise for being "mature" or simply M Rated are so dumbed down that games for children like Mario or Sonic hold your hand less than them.
Why does the M RATED game need a homing attack? Surely a MATURE ADULT can do something basic like positioning a character in 3D space and pointing to face their adversary? Apparently not.
Same with puzzles, Super Mario 3D World gives you fuck all hints to obtain green stars, meanwhile these "mature"games are telling you how to solve a basic puzzle any retard should be able to solve in a few seconds.
Why is a children's game more demanding of a player's intelligence than the game for "adults?"

He sold the website out because he knew down the line you western autists were an unsolvable problem, just sell it to gookmoot who would literally do nothing. Anons got what they put in. Moot was based for selling this shithole, id do the same.

it's a bdsales fag

BD sales also show the slowly dying industry as they consistently go down every year. This is, in fact, additive to my point which is that global audiences generally do not care if anime is Japanese and so will not support the industry purely out of obligation.

because he knew down the line you western autists were an unsolvable problem

Nah he actually did it because he got exposed for being a cuck and telling his mod team to ban anyone who posts wrongthink.

But solo leveling had some of the worst bd sales of the year? Thats a gook anime?

and just stick to Anon Babble and Anon Babble

Woah anon, they sure are different.
You got your low activity primarily offtopic board filled with smug N5 elitists, and your low activity primarily offtopic board filled with anons on vacation from Anon Babble.

"Sajaegi" refers to the practice of artificially inflating sales or consumption of a product or service, often through illegal means. In the context of K-pop, it specifically means manipulating music charts by illegally buying CDs, streaming songs repeatedly using bots, or engaging in other deceptive practices to boost a group's or artist's chart ranking.

But no, I'm sure there's a logical reason the director begged that if you want Season 3 please support the official release(Buy BDs) for the "most popular anime of the year."

Are you a bot or something?
BD sales overall consistently go down every year overall.
My point about Solo Leveling's popularity was outside Japan, because that's what matters. Japan are the people who made the anime industry no longer an insular thing and they have been slowly losing ground on that international market- which is why Solo Leveling being so popular internationally is a bad sign for the industry.
If you write another schizoid tier post where you respond to the delusion of a post you made up in your head again, I'll just ignore you.

Nigga those boards still have some form of community left, actual discussion thats on topic without the typical reddit/twitter bait posts. Your Anon Babble board is a husk, it is literally just Anon Babble but vidya?

you will never be a japanese

Game too french for you?

"erm actually physical media which is dying everywhere on earth proves my point", btw I never mentioned bds in any of my posts. You are a genuine schizo, last (you).

I genuinely don't understand HxH fans who put it on some pedestal of it's own among other shounen.
I don't even like it as much as Yu Yu Hakusho.

im the opposite, i can only play it if it looks too anime
if it's too realistic i know that tranny european feminists homosexuals made it

Nigga those boards still have some form of community left,

Maybe Anon Babble (and the irony is 50% of Anon Babble's "culture" is raiding other boards to have generals with avatarfags and pet schizos), but Anon Babble doesn't have any community. It's a bunch of disconnected low quality posters and generals/storytimes that spam the same five or so catchphrases (i.e., "ENTER", "I KNEEL", "CHAD[x]", etc.).
If you want to talk about a husk of a board, Anon Babble is it. Anon Babble is consistently hemorrhaging actual posters who then get replaced by people taking vacations from the actually active boards like Anon Babble and Anon Babble. This month alone, literally the past 9 days, Anon Babble has had no less than ten Anon Babble or eceleb threads reach bump limit and not get deleted.
It's just another Anon Babble and you only think it's better because it has a quarter of the traffic.

i can only play it if it looks too anime

literally me bwo

Speaking of SL, after reading all of it I have to say that the ending fucking blows and made me wish I never read it in the first place. Going back in time to prevent everything from happening with the main character having to "pay a heavy price" doesn't really work when that "price" is fucking 2 years of his childhood and that's it

Which ones are for adults?

didn't even mention sales

copes and seethes about sales

Director of Season 2 said "PLEASE BY THE BDS SO WE CAN GET A SEASON 3"

Anon, Korea is known for chart manipulation and view botting. Crunchyroll had a vested interest in it doing well, they use Indians for shilling. And then to prove this isn't the case you used MAL(easily manipulated), AniDB(easily manipulated) and AniList(easily manipulated)
You seriously don't think it's strange? What about the fact that there's zero discussion or fan engagement? For such a huge series with such large numbers people really don't talk about it, or have any interest drawing the characters or anything. There's just a void.
Now tell me again how this isn't just clear evidence of chart manipulation.

I mentioned /jp for a reason anon, Anon Babble cucks Anon Babble in post quality and it isnt even close. Anon Babble is a husk in terms of community though so ill give you that. This entire site might as well be a husk if you consider Anon Babble to be one.

thread about JRPGs

why are you talking about visual novels, tho?

Get Monoco

Blue mage

Have to keep him in party at all costs to avoid cucking myself.

Annoying.

because that's what matters

No, it doesn't. But if you want to go outside of Japan, why stick to western sources when the west isn't second place in terms of revenue and viewership.
China is second place and guess how their charts on BilliBilli looked? Here's a hint, no dorito-chin man.

Anon Babble cucks Anon Babble in post quality and it isnt even close.

Anon Babble is just another Anon Babble with a paper-thin veneer of superiority anon.
I'd honestly say its generals are far more deranged than the typical Anon Babble general since there isn't as much punishment for acting like a schizo over there, which results in stuff like the R07 general being flooded with posters who'd be bottom of the barrel for Anon Babble.

Harry Potter explores some deep themes too that doesn't mean it wasn't written explicitly for young adults.

lowest common denominator: mentally ill people.

You're just slapping words together without thinking about what any of it means.
Lowest common denominator wouldn't refer to the minority of freaks in society. That's not what lowest common denominator means.

Seinen and Josei are allowed to explore themes and concepts that shonen and shojo aren't or that those audiences wouldn't find appealing.

Nobody who says this actually knows what manga they've read are seinen or shounen.

Anon your replying in good faith but they are a schizo, they literally dreamed up that I was a bd sales fag kek.

Sonic has homing attacks though
But yes, I get your point.

Legit Reddit/Twitter moment

Anon Babble is gacha slop though, the only good general on that board is /vn/. Except /vn/ has karen schizo and might as well be called yuzuge general.

Faggots hating on anime on the anime website

Retarded tourists

anime website

The vast majority of users here do not watch anime.
This isn't even a 60/40 type split, I'd wager something like 75% of all people who post to Anon Babble do not watch anime in a meaningful way. Probably more.
This has been the cast for at least a decade.
It's not an anime website.

This thread proves Anon Babble is reddit residents, you all need to hang yourselves. Anime IS SITE CULTURE YOU NIGGERS.

Miyazaki was right. Anime was a mistake.

That was my point. Why is the M rated game with a realistic human protagonist pretending to be Sonic the Hedgehog?
Sonic has a homing attack, but his games are for children, it makes sense. M Rated games are for "mature adults" there shouldn't be a homing attack, they're adults, they should understand basic 3D space at their age.

Don't care, i used to enjoy anime and anime aesthetic a lot but i grew out of it, plus there are too many ironic weebs. I don't HATE it but it's not what i look for when i want quality

Because vidya no matter what is childish to many people, this fight between anime fags and western fags is retarded because everyone who doesnt play vidya thinks you are weird if anons are playing games over 21.

Im sorry anon but you dont "grow out of things", this is a cope to appear like your new hobbies are more aged as you have aged which is assumed to correlate to wisdom. This is not the case though, you simply dont like anime anymore and thats fine.

In addition, the greatest proof of my point is just the current state of things.
We are in the best season since 2014, maybe 2007. That's unquestionable, this isn't a subjective thing, even from a cursory glance that is evident, but despite that, posts on Anon Babble still trends down.
And yes, this is unquestionable. This season we have:

A new Shaft TV anime

A new Wit Studio TV anime

a new Watanabe series

a new non-battle series Jump adaptation

a long anticipated spin-off adaptation

literal Gainax Gundam with Anno and Tsurumaki in creative positions

a new WMT anime

a new Lupin film about Fujiko from Koike (not out for a month, but still)

a new Versailles anime (Anon Babble classic)

a new and really fucking good idol anime

a new Uma Musume

a new KyoAni film

Just off the top of my head from this season, this is far more than most seasons since the concept began in earnest have ever had. I mentioned 2014 and 2007, but even then no individual season had this much going on specifically for works starting within the season, I didn't even mention two cours in this.

And despite that, Anon Babble is the most dead it has been since 2009. Nobody on this site actually gives a shit about anime, so it's laughable for you fags to run around going "Anime website! Anime website!"
It isn't one.

No one watches anime anymore. Weebs are all watching vtubers.

question anon, if Anon Babble is dying then where do I go to talk about anime.

If you don't already know then you don't actually talk about anime and are just the eternal cancer that killed Anon Babble in the first place.

Im a nu fag, my mal has 700 completed if thats enough to u. Im not a shonen tard.

one dimensional characters are always bad

Technically not true. Once you read into enough classic fables and creation myths you learn that having one dimensional characters is perfectly fine as storytellers and poets have historically created human characters to simply serve as an allegory for some kind of meaning.
Sometimes the point of a character is to be invested in what they represent, not to become emotionally invested in the character's personal life.

The issue with modern western writers for film and video games is that they think simple characters are inherently bad. It's why they're doing retarded shit like turning the orcs from LotR and demons from Devil May Cry into sad war victims you're supposed to feel sympathy for.
These writers can't fathom the idea of a sentient thing being a personification of an aspect of nature. Their brains aren't that complex. They quiver and squirm when they see the demons in Frieren get put through the meat grinder by the main character because they're personally trying to see a human in the demons when the demons are only supposed to represent an aspect of humanity.
They're not people, they're the ethereal concept of *evil* personified. That's it.
Man, americans are dumb.

kill all Anon Babble

Could you write some different simple characters though?
The degree to which the JRPG genre really does just recycle "teenagers save the world" over and over again is kind of ridiculous.
Could I have a JRPG inspired by Rocky movies, for example? You're in a grotty New York environment, and you alternate between training, street fights, and ring matches. That'd be kind of cool.
Could I have a JRPG where you play an actual militaty unit in a war? Like, not teenagers. Cool dudes with guns.
Could I have a JRPG inspired by UFO conspiracies, and the X-Files, where you play as cool agents?

No because the world doesnt have interesting writers anymore

The thing about western games writing I find hilarious is one of the most genuinely mature stories in western gaming is a kids platformer game. No modern mature western game is hitting the same beats or levels of writing found in Sly 2 Band of Thieves.
Not a single modern western writer would be able to pull off the simplicity and meaning behind Sly calling Bentley "Wizard" in Prague.

In the prologue, Sly mocks Bentley's use of code names, Bentley's being "Wizard" as being pointless and a waste of time assuming it's just because Bentley's new to field work. Later after being betrayed by a new "ally" Sly ends up locked up in a prison with Bentley working alone to bust him out.

As a form of acknowledgement, apology and accepting him truly as part of the gang Sly uses Bentley's codename in full sincerity. No more words need to be said.

A modern writer would either explain it or make it a joke or have some witty retort when it's said losing all the emotional weight the word should carry.
Meanwhile in a "Mature" game

Child you've known for 5 mins gets shot

Why is a kid's game better at subtlety?

whenever the games stopped being 2d and around the ps2 era. cause the last good jrpg was ffx. then you had what dragon quest remakes, the shitty ff, tales of cringe, disgaea and bunch of other shit games.
name 1 good anime rpg post ps2 that wasnt icky or garbage.

"teenagers save the world"

The most well known JRPG series, Final Fantasy, isn't even like this. They're basically adults in every single entry and the characters are usually fighting over an internal struggle and their journey has nothing to do with saving the world.
Memes have successfully convinced you that every JRPG is Persona 5 and I feel sad for you.

that wasnt icky

all korean and chinese comics and animation are still extreme slop that only appeal to the smoothest of brains

You should really fear for Japanese anime having any future then since the most popular anime of all time include the likes of Naruto and Bleach.

/thread

but the POPULAR ONES

popular slop has always been slop, this doesn't mean anime was bad when dragon ball was massive

Compared to wuxia and solo leveling? So basically shit should fear shit kek.

I am chinese in cn, cn likes Japan animation, we do not wish for it to die.

Popular shit is what keeps industries afloat and draws in new eyes. Without Naruto and Bleach the majority of anime's base outside Japan within the 2000s and early 2010s wouldn't exist, and the popular anime of the actual 2010s into 2020s would've been completely different.
It was dying with or without China. China just decides if it can one day be revived as a novelty, and given China's own successful ventures, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Gonna say it for the retards here, I'm not saying all anime ever made will die because that isn't feasible.
What I am saying is that this time next decade, you won't be seeing much in the way of anything that interesting. More Detective Conan and Anpanman, less everything that doesn't pull in above 1% on the ratings.

Why do people keep implying the devs hate JRPGs when fucking every interview about their inspirations draws directly from their love of classic JRPGs?

What.jpg - 507x539, 135.88K

This game desperately needed a "restart battle" button if it was going to use this autosave system

Should have gained traction earlier. I really do tire of RPGs that have mostly teenagers with your obligatory 'old man' of 28.

Its westerners who hate Japan but like E33, the E33 devs love Japanese media, its fanbase does not.

you have zero basis for this other than "b-but a japanese animated korean series is doing well!"

Its a chink who loves the ccp or a white tankie/koreaboo kek. Also could be indian since indians love solo leveling.

1. Hates Japanese animation
2. Only praises gook and chink stuff
3. uses solo leveling as his only example (what happened to link click huh chinks?)
4. Will praise wuxia and cultivation slop over light novels KEK
5. Never ever will mention (Frieren or the other ten billion shonen slop like mashle that hit literal normie eyes)

That's not even true you're talking about a subset of people who just want to stir things up. The threads prior to release wanted this game to succeed so square Enix would make mainline turnbased FF's again. Honestly I'd say most of this JRPG discussion is solely based around Final Fantasy and Square Enix's mishandling of it over the recent years, people WANT a good FF game and Expedition 33 proves that there is demand for it and that it can work if they tried.

The actual basis is that the industry itself has been dying internally for years and everyone knows. A healthy industry doesn't hire talent on the opposite end of the planet through twitter to pick up the slack, with zero communication between animators, storyboarders, directors, and ADR (which is why most episodes of One Piece currently are incredibly baffling to actually witness).
Again, I just mention the Korean and Chinese stuff because they already show a growing distance between Japan and international audiences- one that is already significant in other fields.
The sentiment of "Japan has gotten too comfortable and will get fucked by competition" isn't anything new, and this industry crash will entirely be the result of ego and need for more profit over all rather than this idea the sperg is forcing on me about Korea and China 'winning' some imaginary battle.

Then why are half the posts in this thread and previous threads "THANK GOD, JAPAN BTFO BY MATURE WESTERN GAME, HIGHSCHOOL SLOP IS TRASH FOR PEDOPHILES, I HATE JAPANESE AUTISM ANIME ART EWWWWW ICCCCCCKKKY EWWWWWWW".

?

western normalfags are genuine npcs that cant relate or comprehend anything unless its 100% familiar to them

because they're fucking shitposters whos opinions you should ignore

okay so your basis is an assumption with nothing to back it
frieren is the highest rated anime of all time by the way

Noooooooo b...b.bu...but solo leveling!

Honestly, I'm not really getting the point in attempting to discuss the reality of the anime industry with people who know literally nothing about it.

the reality

just saying a bunch of shit without sources

ignores the highest rated anime came out a little over a year

lol

Rance X, AstraLibra, 13 sentinels, Unicorn overlord, both niers and disgaea 5 are all genuine kino, good list but I dont agree on Y's X personally.

After persona 5 became popular with normalfags

muh contrarianism

you must live a sad life also its currently contrarian to shit on 33 so get to it.

you didnt have to kill him like this my man.

also ASTLIBRA MENTION

ASTLIBRA.jpg - 1200x788, 1.23M

anime doesn't fit under those demographics, manga does
anime is either early morning cartoons for school kids, prime time for high schoolers, or airs at 2am because it's meant for degenerate losers

western sources are inapplicable when discussing western popularity of a work

but also this is THE BIGGEST ANIME EVER (using western ranking sites)

What I've said this whole time is incredibly easy to get info on. The Toei and Mappa communication issues aren't even a small story, that was a big thing last year with new staff not even getting trained by older staff.
These talks about China eventually outpacing Japan exist and- fuck, why am I bothering?
You don't watch anime at all in all likelihood and your view of anime is just as a way to own some imaginary enemy so fine, have it.

I liked persona 5 quite a lot
I liked e33 even more
I'm just answering his question, that's when popular consensus started to shift.
Persona was only popular on Anon Babble before 5 came out, then suddenly everyone was playing it and critiquing how the characters were too young to relate to and dialogue sucked

it gained traction amongs the bot community

westerners grow up with the notion that animation and color is necessarily for kids. the east did not.
adults eventually overcome this retarded premise, but teens and 20 year olds who play games are mentally undeveloped

talks about China eventually outpacing Japan

not a single hit animation

i'll listen when china actually does anything of worth but feel free to fearmonger and whine while i enjoy the many great anime still actively coming out

Thats fair

When China and Korea start actually making original anime IP kino thats getting made at 50+ seasonals per season then I will take you seriously, until then this is a retarded cope and just a mix of industry growth being pushed to its limits, overwork and growing pains.

FPBP

Go back

No wonder so many westerners become lgbtq trannies. Japan is based for making gay marriage illegal. Western faggots will continue to seethe until they join that 41%.

You like HXH cuz you're gay
