i watched a bit and am embarrassed to say that he plays much better than me. i breezed through the game exploiting many broken builds and strats that i discovered but i always sucked at parrying. he just bangs his head at the wall and parries like a champ. i can do more than a billion damage but he fucking outskills me

The problem is you're probably overthinking it. I had the same issue early on. The moment you see attacks a few times and react in a way that's completely instinctive without thinking about it, the better you'll be at parrying. You have to unlearn anticipation and go by things that make sense like audio cues, visual cues when the hit looks like it's connected and tuning out cinematic moments after you've seen them once.
Assmongo is just someone who consumes. He wants to say he played it and give it a 9/10 so people think he's a true gamer still.

at the start of the game i always fucked up my parries because i pressed too early in anticipation. then i never learned to parry because i discovered broken builds for every character so everything except bosses died before i needed to parry. i also was overleveled because i always did all side content before continuing with the main story. i even beat simon before finishing act 3. im just impressed. he plays like a retard with zero strategy, makes suboptimal calls every turn, but he still outskills me with parries
