It insists upon itself
It insists upon itself
The only good video game is Pajama Sam 3: You Are What You Eat From Your Head To Your Feet.
accurate
I don't know about that, but it sucked ass for the couple hours I played of it. not falling for the
oh butt it gets good 20 hours in!
meme
gets good 20 hours in!
is anyone saying that about this though?
Everyone seems enamored with it from the start, but idk, it looks pretty bland to me.
youre mum insists upon my dick
namefaggot has shit taste
figures
It's because from the start it pretty much bombards you with intense emotional music and visuals to the point where it almost forces a pseudo emotional response. The story for me didn't pick up until the third act.
Yeah as bit. But all the games I like have flaws.
looks gay and when you play it you become gay
tru
why does this game make third world weebs seethe so much?
It's the opposite. Game sucked me in then fucking backstabbed in the last couple hours of the game. I haven't been this mad after finishing a game in years.
looks gay and when you play it you become gay
I agree. It's pretentious shit. Maybe people only say it's good because it's not filled with niggers & faggots and I get that, that's understandable
intense emotional music and visuals
that's why it insists upon itself.
it's all just so painfully obvious. they set up this whole expedition thing, so obviously when you get there... well I don't want to give spoilers.
But also, the mood of the world doesn't mesh well with lore dumping.
yeah that's understandable.
also I get why people like the visuals and the music. people are easily impressed by anything slightly off kilter. I imagine a bunch of normies are listening to the OST on repeat on YouTube
Yes ans that's exactly why I like it.
I'm so tired of americanoid ironic trash like Borderland and the likes. Give me game that take itself seriously, even if it's cringe.
typical french
What are you mad about? The game was great from start to finish. Im really curious if they're ever gonna expand on Clea and the Writers with either a DLC or sequel
Fair enough. I see lots of people expressing similar sentiment, and I think the world is better for it.
But it's not enough to take me out of my retro gaming cave.
Stop spamming this shit game. Nobody actually cares about it. It's extremely heavily botted
It's not the game itself, the game is fine. If it came out and the reaction was similar to KCD2 where people said it's great, has some flaws but overall a good experience etc. people wouldn't think twice about it. But because there are comments on Reddit/TikTok where people are saying the game is the greatest piece of fiction ever, it's a transcendent experience and all that hubbub that seems to piss people off. Because the game does a lot of things right, but it doesn't do anything new. It's a great homage to jpgs, but doesn't actually do anything to push the genre forward, it is just banking off of the ideas from previous games and people are calling it genius when this is exactly what people have been asking the big name developers to do so. Imo the game is good but not a masterpiece.
Nah. Ur cucked and memespamming. And brown
well stated.
people keep saying goty, which is fine, as long as we all acknowledge that all it takes to be goty is a breath of fresh air. The industry is in a sad state indeed.
if all it takes to be goty is a breath of fresh air, then the industry is in a sad state indeed.
gets good 20 hours in!
Nobody says this, though. It's amazing from the start.
If anything, it falls off at Act 3.
If anything, it falls off at Act 3
Try Act 1. Fuck Verso. Y'all selling this game like a JRPG without the gay anime shit and not 5 hours in I get this lame, goofy ass heading my squad.
How so?
If that's all you can say about it then you probably just don't like videogames. You're either depressed, spiteful, or whatever else. I assume the only games, if any, you play are some godforsaken MMOs like WoW so you can zone out for the entire day until you've exhausted yourself enough to sleep.
Yeah, but when nobody is making those games and a Square says nobody wants those games, and then this one comes out, it's gonna make a splash.
Same exact thing happened with Baldur's Gate 3. Really great game, but it got all the hype because AAA studios for some reason decided not to make them any more.
Kill yourself FFag
I'm honestly glad turn-based games are finally coming back. I have no idea when the world got gaslit into believing turn-based games are "outdated" or "bad". Every zoomer opinion (which should be worthless to begin with) consists of hating on turn-based games.
Turn-based games are simply a genre that can exist alongside other genres. It's a unique playstyle so why it suddenly received so much negativity over the years is a mystery to me.
I'm glad the the veil has finally been lifted so we can hopefully get more turn-based games again.
Also fuck zoomers.
huh, that makes a lot of sense. I've just been retro gaming so I hadn't really noticed the decline of turn based.
Perhaps it's that which people are reacting so positively to? And not the pretentious shite.
He's a Maellefag
sequel
I guess they could do an Expedition 34?
You're mad and shitposting on Anon Babble because people on fucking TikTok say thing sthat make you seethe? Jesus fucking Christ just slice your wrists and go back to your precious zoom zoom app
It's not the game itself, the game is fine
But because there are comments on Reddit/TikTok
Of course. People call this a "mature" turn-based JRPG. And they're right. It's pretty much in the style of FFX of old except it's made by Europeans. The turn-based action is cinematic as it should be. On top of that, it's not your standard turn-based action either. There are some added mechanics like parrying, dodging, and a few other things, for realtime feedback.
Not every turn-based game needs realtime input but it's fine if some do. Keeps things varied but still turn-based. Just imagine your favourite genre disappearing for years, never evolving, never being experimented with, never getting new modern mechanics etc. because some Tiktok/Youtube cunts hate turn-based.
What's a pseudo emotional response. Sounds like emotions but you pretend they aren't real to prove a point
t. Never played le gamo
sweetheart I was giving my reasoning as to why there are so many people hating on this game. I actually quite enjoyed it
I played for about an hour, all I got was cinematics and "gameplay" as padding. It basically plays itself. I miss Wukong, they offered cinematics as treats for beating a hard boss, not just for following the navigation arrow and listen to npcs yap for hours
I think it's more of an amateur problem, they really wanted their jrpg impression, so they made it janky like how epic orchestral music suddenly plays when you enter combat from a calm situation before with soft music. Transitions are jarring and when done on purpose like that, it does insist upon itself. I fucking hate this game
yeah they need to stop that crap.
Devs said FF7 was an influence. I guess they forgot how FF7 started by throwing you directly into the action and introducing the characters as part of the adventure.
Wukong was garbage
Think about in RDR2 when Arthur died, people were sad right? That's because we spent the entire game with him and watching him grow as a person, whereas in Clair Obscur we get none of that yet the game want us to feel sad so it substitutes actual writing and characterization with music and pretty cinematography. I mean if this was a novel and half the cast died in the first three pages and you knew nothing about them would it honestly affect you?
The game doesn't even really start until 90 minutes or so. I agree the tutorial/prologue is too long.
There should have been Relationship conversations for Gustav. Would have made his death more memorable.
But people *were* sad, and unless you're a speedtranny you'll be at least 18-ish hours into the game by the time it happens
i got to act 1 and just didn't click with em and i like a lot of jrpg
The only thing I actively want from this game now is a boss replay where the boss has 10x the HP value so I can go back and see all the bosses and phases I missed from deleting them. I didn't even use Maelle Stendhal I just built Verso really well
Basic attack and shooting? I did that and am rolling through Act 2. Axons died before getting more than 1 attack. Hopefully Act 3 is harder.
Gustave is literally the only one I liked. Him being an engineer was cool. He's basically French Isaac Clarke
I just don't like the look of it. Recommend me a good 3D jarpig to play that doesn't look like this
It gets good in like 20 minutes, retard. The opening is one of my favorites in any game because it isn't a total waste of time.
I wanna know how he lost his arm, was in an explosion in his lab or some such? Apparently the writer keeps around a giant timeline detailing everything about the world and the characters going back several generations to know how and why they'd act in any given situation
Apparently the writer keeps around a giant timeline detailing everything about the world
yeah that's generally how writing works
You'd be surprised
i'm exactly the kind of terminally depressed mmofag you describe and i still adored this game from start to finish desu, i think he's just straight up not human
The combat system is pretty shit, desu. You are effectively just doing the meme JRPG "basic attack every turn" just with extra button presses thanks to how the AP and skill system works. The parrying and dodging also have to have super tight windows because otherwise the game would be a complete cakewalk, but that ends up shutting out anyone who, for whatever reason, can't meet the demands of the system. And finally, the combat system actually ends up being shallower than a traditional JRPG system because there is, effectively, no resource management or planning; just set up your autistic damage build, set up your turn order, and then repeat the same fucking rotation every turn if the fight lasts for more than 1 turn. No need to worry about planning about saving mana, or using a clutch potion, or any of that. And the shallowness is only compounded if you are really good at the parries.
