The mistake imo is to think that art is like linear algebra and it can be solved with enough information fed into a machine but this excises the context of the artist's workflow and the decisions that he does and doesn't make to achieve something specifically. You can feed AI enough of Yoshitaka Amano's work to give an approximation of it but it doesn't have the process and the technical skills not just in how he paints but the motor skills and choices of tools based on the knowledge that he has amassed over decades of drawing and painting and the sum of that can't be factored with enough algebra.

An example that I think I could think of is self driving cars that are able to get you to the majority of the way to your destination and what you want it to do but anything that's more complex than following basic traffic laws and following the speed limit becomes logarithmically more complicated and despite everything, stops being useful when it comes to actual taxing decisions and thought you have to make.

I think artist choice is kind of irrelevent in terms of skill expression, if you just feed enough of an artist's work into a model it'll produce basically anything you want 99% of the time. Art is complex, sure but at the end of the day we're talking about a still image, something that the AI can replicate with enough data. Also self driving cars are an entirely different thing altogether and is 100,000 times more complex than a drawing. But the point still seems to remain, with enough time, advancement and data AI can practically make any artist 1:1 regardless of how high level they are.

When you work long enough and develop a style with the tools you have, you can't get an AI accurate enough to match those specifics that you yourself are trying to get specifically. It's like proompting chat GPT to create python functions for you without the context of the entirety of the code you've written already in that it'll create something that is technically a function that does what you asked but it doesn't fit or work in the body you've made it for.
