When was the last good Star Wars game?

When was the last good Star Wars game?

X-Wing.jpg - 1600x1200, 718.2K

Whenever Squadrons came out, but it was short as fuck.

x-wing alliance

star wars battlefront 2
the pandemic one obviously before anyone tries a lazy shitpost

Force unleashed was pretty good

jedi academy

Which version? I've been playing it here and there the past week, but the gameplay feels like stiff garbage. OP, pic related.

The one on the Wii but I played that when I was like eight

It was, the first one that is, and the physics system was bananas. Kinda wanna play it again. Wonder if there are any good 4K texture mods.

Jedi Survivor honestly. Outlaws was a fuckin glitchy mess.

Personal top five of Star Wars games
KOTOR 2
Rogue Squadron 2
Republic Commando
Empire at War
Jedi Fallen Order.

HA! That game was shit compared to the older games. Sure, it looks better, but the overall gameplay and layout of major story events are FAR worse.
Probably 2020, if you like Squadrons. If not, then 2012 with Star Wars Kinect.
If you're some kind of space-commie who doesn't like Kinect Star Wars, then the last good game was Force Unleashed and it came out in 2008

Yeah this. The first one is quite good. Definitely a bit janky, but overall a very solid game and very impressive for its time. The first mission is bitter-sweet because a game playing as Vader chasing down rogue Jedi would've been great, although not in a post-Disney acquisition environment. We'd have to endure bug-eyed black women defeating him so some character nobody likes can escape for a spin-off.

i forgot that was after the battlefront games

I was playing the PC release, so maybe the 'last gen' versions of the game were better. PC version (same as PS3/360) feels like a tech demo.

B Wing is the best Rebel ship.

Battlefront 2 (2005)
still surprised there's not been a proper remaster.
and no, i'm not buying nu-Battlefront cuz its still $100 and its got no players.

Star Wars Hunters. Hero shooter that actually requires skill in the later ranks. Shit like Overwatch and Rivals feels like mindless point and click or auto death shit.

Each bounty hunter/mercenary was basically one of three types, attack, defense, and recovery. They tried to fit in different aliens, they all end up being generic that you choose the skin you want (like a stormtrooper with a huge laser mini gun. You can change him to a Scout Trooper, Death Trooper, Mudtrooper, etc). Every character felt pretty balanced. You leveled them up and your skills get better cool downs or little perks. Later they added 3 slots for extra perks so you could find tune how you want the character. Like the big wookie tank. Maybe you want more melee damage, or you'll trade off a bit of speed for extra health. Its a pretty simple shooter with depth. If you liked Unreal Tournament or Quake, it's kinda like that but third person. No nonsense shooter. Of course it being GaaS shit they're already getting ready to close it down. Seriously, the sound design was good, the levels were well dsigned and there are many different planet arenas to fight on. They should have sold it as a standalone title and not season pass, premium skins, premium currency garbage. You also needed to pay to unlock new characters so that was a small brain business move. Now that it's on its way to shut down all the characters and skins are unlocked.

A shame it's basically only playable to a decent extent in just XvT's single-player expansion.

Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 had it.

I liked this one. It was exactly what I expected from a GOOD Lego Star Wars. The last one I played was the Force Awakens and that one felt really sluggish and janky.

KotOR

I said decent extent, not just a couple of missions that you have to Ace to basically unlock the ability to even use the B-wing.

For me its A Wing.

Force unleashed 2. Best one is on SNES thoughbeit

Nigga wrote a book begging someone to play with him. Dead game

Wait a second who the fuck let a Miraluka fly a fighter?

aspyr/disney tried to pump out a "remaster" last year but it was such a colossal flop that people don't even remember it happened
literally all they had to do was release the originals with functioning servers and they couldn't do it. It's just not gonna happen bc disney is in charge

bf.jpg - 335x452, 30.72K

Battlefront 2 (the new one)

Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor were great TRUTH NVKE

Aspyr's been fucking it up in general.

Battlefront Classic Collection - Ports the OG Xbox version and breaks shit in the process

Force Unleashed (Switch) - Port of the Wii version and adds more crashes

KOTOR (Switch) - Triple game filesize, make EVERY texture upscaled ugly messes

KOTOR2 (Switch) - So broken they had to offer refunds, or tell you to use the included cheat menu to teleport past problem points

Jedi Power Battles (modern platforms) - Based on the jank PS1 version. AI upscaled assets, turns a 300mb game into a 10gb release

KOTOR Remake - Cancelled

How the fuck can they drop the ball so badly? Their first remasters were really good. Also how the hell can they fuck up so badly on Star Wars when their Tomb Raider remasters were great?

I'm pretty sure disney has been telling them to fuck up on purpose bc they want those old games to die forever, they are sick of people talking about them
there is no other explanation for launching a "remaster" of SWBF with literally 3 (three) servers total

it's really sad what's happened to SW since ol retard george sold it off to them. Shockingly EA is the only company who did shit with it, Jedi Fallen Order and the sequel are okay I guess, everything else has been SHIT

It was all down hill from here.

Probably the usual case of a studio that once was, is but a shell of its former self. The KOTOR cancellation was probably the start of all of their problems, given they overhired for it, and likely lost a lot of their veterans in the following layoffs.

Oh, I forgot one, although it's more a humorous/fun one

Jedi Outcast (Switch) - Game searched for its own server lobby, but PC users could manually connect to it and invade their sessions with mouse superiority.

Fallen order was good (not great) and squadrons was really fun but I never got into the multiplayer (wish I did)

didn't play survivor (yet)

(you)

AI upscaled assets, turns a 300mb game into a 10gb release

that's basically what the SWBF remaster was. AI upscaling slop so minute you couldn't even tell, triple the filesize of the originals combined, also the servers don't work which is literally the only thing they had to get right

I was about to post the Krystal Ball but then I noticed it was a Star Wars thread. Get that shit outta here!

Well if you want I can say that it was a massive missed opportunity for Nintendo to not hire Factor 5 for a Star Fox game.

Rogue Squadron but Star Fox sounds like a match made in heaven, outside of lack of opportunity for proper boss fights.

Survivor has too many flaws offsetting the good things about it. Fallen Order was probably the last actual good SW game.

first off the first game looked better secondly they both sucked complete ass compared to the originals. still had fun with 2 after they purged the jew boxes. funny they didnt reset the items gained from the loot boxes after the patch

tf.gif - 640x640, 1.69M

It would be better if the vehicle/hero spawning didn't suck giant donkey cock and if it didn't have the pay-to-win card system that makes you outrageously weaker if you haven't played since launch (I know they killed the P2W shit in the 3 day advanced launch shit but the mechanic is still there and ruined the game).

Rewatching Revenge of the Sith made me realise my favourite part of Star Wars is moments like the Kashyyyk battle more than the jedi stuff. There is something about boots on the ground combat that tickles a funny part of my brain hence my love of Battlefront.

Dice Battlefront 1/2 looked fucking amazing visually (still does), but the actual scale of the battles (number of active players) are minuscule compared to the originals on PC.

the jedi knight games are also pretty gud

Nah. They look nice but that’s all they had going for them

Squadrons

Thats why I like the Fighter Jock stuff best. And Smugglers and Bounty hunters.

Dash Rendar.png - 640x278, 53.6K

Jedi Survivor was great but unoptimized, no idea if Outlaws or whatever it was actually good but I wasn't a fan of the gunplay they showed.

I wish Squadrons got more support. I fucking loved that flight model, just wish they increased the top speed a little and opened up the levels and player count along with letting us do in-atmosphere stuff. I want something as close to Star Wars Ace Combat as I can get. Instead we got a budget title that got abandoned after about six months.

No mention of Bounty Hunter

Does that mean they actually did good with it or does no one care?

play PC version of SotE years after the fact

better music

full voice acting that fits

get stuck with dated looking CGI cutscenes up against the hand-drawn N64 original cutouts

Wish more games did their cutscenes in the N64 version's manner.

I don't have any personal experience with the Aspyr re-release. All I've played was that PS2 emulated version on PS4 which they had no hand in, which ran better than the original since the emulator ran the PS2 CPU at a higher clock speed.

Lucasarts had an oddly close relationship with Nintendo back in the day.

So why did the Alliance bring those transport ships into combat zones anyway?

RED LEADER WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!

Redemption.jpg - 559x438, 51.72K

Y'all Gay Yeezy niggas missed out on a star wars gem.

Outlaws was terrible. Bottom tier ubishit, but not even competent. Also was compeletely fucking broken at launch.

Jedi Fallen Order was pretty good and I haven't played Survivor yet, so at least as recent as Fallen Order

This nigguh docks hard with the End Run

They released some fucking good games that era, across snes/n64/pc. Back when LucasArts Games did more than just Star Wars.

Choose.

Star Wars Galaxies.

Survivor, funnily enough, runs perfectly fine on AMD gpu's(at least RDNA3); it shits itself on nVidia.

Where are the alien babes?

Like two years ago? Didn't you play Jedi Survivor?

Visas.

The rogue squadron trilogy.

Kreia

3 sucked. Battle for Naboo is underrated.

/thread

its always bigger up close

(You)

this was awful. fucking spit in the face of old fans

Republic equipment is Kino.

AT-TE.jpg - 960x720, 90.71K

You postested it nigger

I miss the era of vidya where super battle droids were an actual threat.
Republic Commando can be thanks immensely for that one.

Yeah but Clone Wars and Filoni shit is not canon.

Depends on how good you want it to be.
Really good? More than twenty fucking years ago.
Pretty good? Fallen Order.

StarWars.png - 762x737, 732.68K

What they should’ve done is added maps that had land and air vehicles and maybe more heroes. Rather than just releasing broken crap.

What, so she's got some compound eyes under that veil or something?
Cause I'd be okay with that.

not to defend Aspyr, Palpatine forbid, but its strange their fuck ups consist mainly of sw stuff. the other often isnt "as bad"

Miraluka canonically have no eyes.

what the hell are you talking about?
2nd game looks far better than the first

yeah

could have been fixed for battlefront 3, but disney was too stingy with the license

nah

we had the same thread yesterday and bounty hunter was mentioned, you can rest now

now that games are corporate, there's no quality, no-one cares about results. they just want Product to get over the finish line before Deadline so it can make X profit, so 80% of it can go into pockets of investors (who know or care nothing about video games) who want to buy a 3rd yacht for their daughter's graduation.

nintendo of america cared about courting developers and exclusives in the 80s/90s
after peter main left, noa became a joke until reggie, and still never regained the power it had in the 80s/90s

Badass premise

Male pilot speaks

Muh husband was a...

Incinerated

Dark Forces should be higher, but then I remembered the sewer level and that one level with the reflecting walls and snipers everywhere and thought "yeah C is fair enough".

it is, cause lucas supervised

very shitty tier list

Survivor with blaster and sword was pretty fucking good, but the blaster parry interrupt is basically a goddamn necessity for some bosses to be playable. Fuck those frogs man, seriously. Fuck those frogs.

Same shitty AI texture bloat problem + they never adjust the camera for mouse and keyboard so you will be constantly annoyed by trigger zones that wrangle your view into a fixed angle for no reason.

Is the remaster worth playing?

file.png - 460x215, 223.85K

Literal insanity how many awesome SW games we got between 1999-2005. It's so sad that Disney killed the franchise.

Star Wars: Force Commander

latest[1].jpg - 410x500, 54.62K

I didn't play many star wars games but
1. Jedi Academy
2. Rogue Squadron
3. Fallen order
4. Original Battlefront
5. Jedi Outcast

Honestly I think Disney is incidental. Lucasarts is pretty legendary for its incompetence as a publisher. If anything I think Disney owned Lucasarts games have a pretty good track record. Four out of Six have been decent at worst.

Fortnite has a star wars season, pilotable x-wings and tie fighters and weapons, its pretty cool.

1.webm - 960x540, 3.93M

still S+
git gut

Alright Squad. Lets get in there and start breaking things!

Delta Squad.jpg - 928x424, 39.56K

I don't get why people were filtered by the frogs. It took me several tries, but it wasn't that bad. The twin rancors on the other hand can suck my balls. I had to cheese that with a glitch.

The only good star wars game is Star Wars Episode 1: Racer. Terrible franchise. Star Wars is an exercise in cultural humiliation. Dude "what if we had giant robot camels or like a Chameleon but it has ww2 gunner turrets for eyes" and everyone is like "oh god George Lucas is a genius, he has done it again"

It's so sad that Disney killed the franchise.

Nah the gay ass 2008 cartoon killed the franchise. The expanded universe was working overtime with games, comics, and novels to make up for the mehness of the prequels until that trash vacuumed up the entirety of LucasArts' budget.
Disney just continued on the same shitty trajectory for the most part.

Post the worst ship designs in Star Wars. New and old Canon.

K-Wing.png - 1200x763, 764.24K

Squadrons was good and you can suck my dick if you think otherwise.

Shame you can't use your cockpit customization options in Single Player. And multiplayer is dead.

Jedi Survivor

file.png - 1280x720, 2.01M

Sam Maggs seething.

Jedi survivor

Rogue Squadron 3 may be the weakest game in the series. But there is something oddly satisfying about having a Naboo Starfighter and a Jedi Starfighter in the same hanger. Shame most of the missions are on foot.

WE CAN'T TAKE MUCH MORE OF THIS!

What?

this is awesome

Say. It.

George.jpg - 412x594, 92.77K

Never played Naboo or Starfighter. They worth a damn?

I'd say so. Battle for Naboo is the better game IMO.

What the fuck was Sienar thinking?

Tie Mauler.jpg - 758x600, 157.36K

Alright, but only the stuff he directly oversaw.

And then Filoni raped them.

Jedi Academy or Kotor 1.

What's wrong with your neeeeeeeeck

My life for yours.

I'm still mad EA never greenlit a Republic Commando game from Respawn and forced to make those shitty Jedi games instead.

23452353.png - 1022x731, 642.72K

Shockingly EA is the only company who did shit with it

That was thanks to Disney. They made an exclusivity contract for SW with EA that lasted a decade.

lego star wars the complete saga (2006-2007)

repcom fans are probably the saltiest bitches i've ever seen

lego

*yawn*

he actually fixed it
his neck is normal now

most retarded list ever.

if disney was smart, they'd do squadrons 2, but have it span the prequels and OT and have some on planet missions too

nobody cares about the first order

You have brain damage my dead anon.

2e1lxv.jpg - 645x729, 31.05K

Playing Squadrons in vr was peak. It's a shame it basically got shadow dropped and they had no real post-launch plans.
