The best he was able to do to try to refute the evidence was to bring in an expert whose concluding opinion was that, if the cabinet was modified and poorly maintained and the whole thing was shoddily recorded, then it could have experienced unexpected errors, and thus maybe the evidence was just a hyperspecific 1/100000000 coincidence that perfectly matched evidence of cheating. At worst, Billy was outright cheating, and at best, the potential conditions he argued his innocence under would invalidate the score as being proper to submit anyways, to which trying to force those scores in anyways and circumvent standards is still an act of knowingly cheating.
