Why are people blaming Nintendo for key cards? It's what 3rd parties wanted from Nintendo. It's not like Mario Kart World or Donkey Kong are using them so what's exactly the problem? It's better than putting a code on a box as you can actually trade or sell these back.

Retards on Anon Babble that lack critical thinking don't understand that they want to make it easier for publishers to get their games on their console, not harder. That's all there is to that.

Snoys rule this board. They'd rather believe what their manlet father penguinzo says.

Nintendo can step in today and say we're no longer doing key cards, if you want to pass certification you have to have a physical release but they aren't doing that are they?

It's planned obsolescence, if the card contains the whole game you can continue playing it past the servers coming down, meanwhile these cards are only useful as long as nintendo wants to.

Then 3rd parties will just not release on Switch. 3rd parties only need Playstation and PC. Anything else is a bonus.

Defeatist mindset. The only option is to decry this practice until they change course. Don't buy key cards, buy proper releases.

Doom the dark ages doesn't even have a physical version and that's a first party game from microsoft. I don't see sonygroes seething at that. at least you can sell these key cards once you've beaten the game.

Why are you so quick to defend Nintendo on every single issue? Are you a shill?

Servers go down

Game vanishes permanently unless you had it already installed

Same shit as 3DS games with content updates. A good chunk of Animal Crossing New Leaf is just gone forever unless you install it with CFW, which Nintendo want to send you to a prison camp for using on any console (not that it will stop me or anyone else). DRM is never a good addition

these cards are digital versions of games that you can resell, that's the point of it all

I'm looking at a physical PS5 copy of Doom The Dark Ages on Amazon

For use only with consoles with optical drive. Game disc inside

I only buy Nintendo consoles for 1st party games. The moment Nintendo 1st party games start using these key cards is the moment I get worried

The game key cards drama is forced and stupid to begin with. Most game discs on the playstation and xbox requires you to download the rest of the game and PC is full digital.

inb4 "b-but muh server shutdown!"

Nintendo hasn't shut down a single download server from previous console. Let that meme die already

frog picture

Say no one

only 300mb on the disc. the rest needs to be downloaded

It's only wrong when Nintendo does it

They did the "welcome amiibo" reprint with most if not all of the updates

Is there any point to the key cards if you're not planning on reselling the game? Seems like it's just an eshop download with extra steps.

I need a new hobby

To Nintendo this is all disposable crap they stop liking once the money train stops, I guess.

sometimes, these are the physical editions

Myself, I changed my hobby over to retro collecting. Plus piracy for anything new I may notice

Pretty much, hope switch 2 is hacked early on so that I can pirate most if not all game key card games
Look on the bright side, at least you'll be able to complete your physical collection :^)

Oh no, I might not be able to play Street Fighter 6 on Switch 2 in 30 years, I'm sure I will care immensely. The only people who have any right to be upset about this are the weirdos who are keep and maintain their original hardware for decades. Everyone else will be emulating these games or playing a rerelease.

i started getting into board games, those are true physical games.

Just buy digital. Some people will get the game key card version to expand their physical game collection

It allows physical sharing of the game between people.

Most game discs on the playstation and xbox requires you to download the rest of the game and PC is full digital

Just because everyone else is doing it doesn’t make it okay for nintendo to pull the same shit

Nintendo hasn't shut down a single download server from previous console

Doesn’t mean it can’t happen, and when it does, those game cards become inoperable, nothing more than inert junk, whereas an actual physical games can still be played

I'm not a weirdo and I still play some games on my SNES. It's unfortunate that zoomers have come to accept that they will own nothing and they will be happy.
Rent's due on the first btw.

I implore you to save your anxiety for things that actually matter instead of worrying about the possibility that you might not be able to play a game in 15 years. I promise you you will be able to access the games you paid for, either through official means or otherwise. It literally does not matter.

NOOOOOOOO DONT CALL OUT NINTENDO ON THEIR ANTI CONSUMER TACTICS THEYRE MY FRIEND!!!

This shit is actually worse. You have the disc there and not actually using it. It's like they are insulting your intelligence.

I don't blame Nintendo, I blame the pirates who make videogames worse for everyone

Doesn’t mean it can’t happen, and when it does, those game cards become inoperable, nothing more than inert junk, whereas an actual physical games can still be played

Doesn't mean Steam or any other online service can suddenly die. What are you gonna do if steam dies?

or otherwise.

If I was okay with pirating games, why would I care at all about how they were being sold?

When you can play now those games on any other device in your house including the one you replied to my post with, yes, you are a weirdo. When I want to play Mario 64 I fire up an emulator, I don't dig the N64 and its busted ass controllers out of my closet.

To me is the inconvenience of taking storage space, I didn't like to buy huge games digitally on switch.

it's ok when nintendo does it

it's ok when other companies does it

Just because everyone else is doing it doesn’t make it okay for nintendo to pull the same shit

Okay but how come we never see people bitch about this on other platforms? Every time I point this out I get retards responding with the same "stop bringing up other platforms!" or "stop bootlicking!!"

I've been all-digital for years, I don't give a fuck about reselling my games because I'm not poor.
Piracy is the only way you'll truly own your games.

nintendo fans actually have standards

interesting, I could have sworn I was led to believe the opposite

yakuza, shitman and split fiction all take up over 50GB in a system with 256GB storage

Downright insulting

It's Nintendos fault Western companies are too stupid to optimize

I wish people like this were killed in the streets

it's only bad when Nintendo does it

I wouldn't care they were so big if they actually got proper physical releases, at least split fiction has the excuse of being bigger than 64GB for being a code in a box, though you're right there's no reason that game should be bigger than 64GB

I can't sell my pirated games when I want to make a couple of hundred extra dollars.

serves these faggots right for playing a game like doom on consoles. peasants

isnt that a thing with all collector editions, so that they're platform-agnostic? you buy a normal physical edition for the platform of your choice, and then the limited edition maps, books, figurines, fleshlights, skibidthings and whatever seperately?

so digital only is good then? why bring up other companies then, surely if its good you wouldn't have to deflect, right?

What does penguinzo have to do with any of this? Is he a snoy?

Stop doing drugs and you won't suddenly need a hundred dollars.

nta bozo

Sorry loser, I care more about the songs on the CD than the CD itself.

Yep a big one. He's like Barry and loves Final Fantasy

yeah it doesn't apply everywhere - there's also a pc edition of this specific collectors thing you posted
but it feels like, while the ordeal less prestigious (wtf wheres my game in my game), it is better for supply (imagine running out of ps collectors edition and the store being full of only xbox lmao)

Why are people blaming Nintendo for key cards?

Because they invented them and manufacture them.

It's what 3rd parties wanted from Nintendo.

Nintendo should've told those third parties to either pay more for functional cartridges or stick to digital only releases.

It's not like Mario Kart World or Donkey Kong are using them so what's exactly the problem?

The problem is that every other game worth playing comes on an e-waste fake cartridge.

It's better than putting a code on a box as you can actually trade or sell these back.

Neither is welcome. Publishers who want retail space for their intangible digital games should stick to selling small pieces of cardboard with a scratch-off code. The disdain consumers feel for these is warranted and Nintendo should not help cheap publishers pedal worthlessly poor quality products.

It's also weird to try and frame being able to sell used games as a knock against piracy. You wouldn't be spending that money in the first place, you wouldn't need to sell something at a loss.

I actually PRAISE Nintendo for making full disclosure on the Game-Key Cards. I don't care that the Game-Key Cards aren't the typical format because at least they're openly disclosed. Unlike shit like this

I wish retards like you would stop using the word e-waste to try and pump up your argument, I know you don't fucking care about that aspect of it at all.

Because these are 100% worthless in the far future when servers get shut down.

Bif feel bro

By far future you mean 40 years from now?

On that matter, do we know if Nintendo games that are on the keycard, will require some mandatory installations? I liked that I never had any problems with space on my Switch, internal memory was just used for DLCs and patches. Never had to add microSD.

1st party games? no

Fpbp

nobody replied

you're a failure even as a Anon Babble shitposter, I am giving you a (you) out of pity

It's ok, Nintendo are your friend, they'll let you buy the game again next console

if you're not playing Nu-Doom with only a keyboard you're a bitch
