A little reminder that the Switch 2 you purchase is not yours, it belongs to Nintendo and they can do whatever they want with it.
A little reminder that the Switch 2 you purchase is not yours...
little timmy's switch gets nuked because of a false positive
Can't wait for the 5000 threads about this when it happens
YOU WOULDNT DOWNLOAD A NINTENDO
unauthorized use
Lmao i bought it, if i want to stick it up my ass i'm free do so, whatcha gonna do tendies?
Is it really that hard to not be a racist, homophobic, sexist, transphobic incel? Nintendo is an inclusive company dedicated to diversity and inclusion. If you dont like it, go elsewhere.
Company wants to do legally questionable and scummy thing
Cram it into a user agreement you have to sign off on to use their service
Get away with it
Can anything be done about this?
well that's illegal in the European Union
buy a license to use hardware that requires further purchases of licenses to play games which then require further purchases of licenses to play online
any of the above can be revoked at any moment without reason, recourse or refund
I love the future
Have you tried not using it in an unauthorized way?
>Can anything be done about this?
You can waste your life arguing with the millions of tendies who will keep defending it
By having laws that make sure to give consumers rights, such as right to self repair and other things like that. IP law does not and has never given a company the right to destroy a physical product that they sell, because they don't like how it is being used by the end user. Even if such things can lead to illegal things, it is not in the companies purview to do anything about, as these methods of detection are not infallible, do end up with false positives and harmfully impact the lives of innocents. Things like this are in the same vein as planned obsolescence, which has been deemed as illegal as well. It will only take one court case where someone let someone borrow a virtual game card and that system was modified and for Nintendo to brick both systems for them to be told that you can't have a fucking kill switch in your console because you got butthurt over someone possibly using it for piracy.
How is this any different from being banned in a multiplayer game by saying a bad word?
Because that still lets you use the console. This is Nintendo telling people that they can make your console inoperable. Which is illegal.
Aren't you that same guy who spams anti-tendie threads day in and day out without end? What makes you think you're better than them?
IT WASN'T ME, IT WAS MY BROTHER!
I'll just not let them in when they come knocking
Which is illegal.
yes?
do people actually believe they are literally bricking consoles completely, and not just banning you from online stuff?
No I am not whatever schizo bogeyman you've conjured up in your head
Doesn't Xbox already do this?
This is illegal and wouldn’t fly in the old world.
Nobody in this thread reads the actual terms, they just assume the article is correct. Modern Anon Babble is completely retarded and thinks everyone on the internet is honest.
This fucking update just lets Nintendo block your entire console from online services if they detect you've modified it somehow, which is mostly to stop hackers from fucking with online games. This is normal practice for all console users and even Valve will just ban your entire account if they catch you fucking with the VAC.
This is pure nothingburger. Given how hard its being pushed I bet its that one anti-nintendo Schizo trying to push it too.
Cant want for a class action regarding destruction of property.
One thing is putting a warning "console might shit itself if you tamper with it" other is "we WILL brick the console if you install non Nintendo modifications"
Cool.
*pirates everything as usual*
No, because you can always create another account, Nintendo wants to kill your console directly.
I bet its that one anti-nintendo Schizo trying to push it too.
is he in the room with us right now anon?
Uhmm that's heckin illegal in poorope
How's that stop killing games petition going?
release product
malicious agents hack your product and use it to steal more of your products
can't include a killswitch to prevent this from happening
What else are they supposed to do?
Based. Total piratejeet death
you are so fucking retarded for thinking they are literally going to brick consoles just for installing cfw
you should actually be happy if that was what they are doing, since you could sue their asses off; but any non-retard understands that they obviously aren't
dude, shiggy bro, just flat out tell people we are breaking the law!
all consoles do this, ever since ds days.
hasn't stopped anyone, though. no idea why this is considered new news.
Just buy your video games. It's that easy.
Didn't Sony try to do the same and the Brazilian government forced them to change that?
Want legal way or the right way?
Okay, and? You own literally nothing in your existence anyway. Even your soul is on rent from whatever God is responsible, or the yawning maw of nothingness from which all existence spawned from, which is eager to bring its spawn back to unmaking oblivion.
"brick your console"
they have always done this, ever since online nintendo consoles were a thing
they don't "brick the console" though, they just ban you from their online services
stop
The retarded shit Tendies will say instead of admitting Nintendo is greedy
go
dont care still going to emulate it
switch 1 emulation already requires a $1000+ PC and still runs like shit for most games
retards think a system over twice as powerful as switch 1 is somehow going to be emulatable on current hardware
luh
mao
Doesn't affect me, don't care.
My condolences for any paying customer. That must feel horrible, to Exchange money for no services at all.
Emulates Mario kart worldses for free
I Hope you buy multiple copies to keep your favorite Company afloat.
switch emulators run just fine on steamdeck
also
1000 dollars is a lot of money!!
kek
imagine choosing the neet life and normalizing such poverty
A little reminder that I'm basically a lender to Nintendo and they're not entitled to my money. I loan them money in exchange of providing a quality product and service for me to use, and if they don't provide that, then money is simply not given to them.
Inserting the switch 2 up your loose asshole won't install illegal software to the hardware, so go nuts gaylord.
keep seething that Ill never need to pay for nintendos overpriced baby toys
Remember when they said you owned physical hardware? I member.
It's okay when Iwata did it.
Ever read the PS5 EULA?

This is not the Nintendo I once knew...
Blame leftists. It's their fault for normalizing that kind of business.
STOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOP
It's hard to misinterpret this:
You acknowledge that if you fail to comply with the foregoing restrictions Nintendo may render the Nintendo Account Services and/or the applicable Nintendo device permanently unusable in whole or in part."
Nintendo is a terrorist organization and should be killed.
It's only in the US version
If you wanted to do something about it you should have done 20 years ago when Sony and MS put it into their tos
. IP law does not and has never given a company the right to destroy a physical product that they sell,
Yeah it does because it's not destroying the hardware, it's disabling the software which of course they own.
Sadly Americans love bending over and taking it in the ass when companies are involved and they are the biggest spenders in the west far as I know. For things to change Americans would need a sense of self respect and self control so, we're fucked.
Document it.
consumerrights.wiki
Lots of gaps in this page, and the switch 2 doesn't even have one yet. If we record all the ways ownership rights are being eroded in one place, it makes it easier to take action against them.
Jesus christ, almost none of that has anything to do with consumer right.
Why the fuck is being against emulation there? That has nothing to do with being a consumer.
and as others have said; what you retards think they are doing is literally illegal so obviously that isn't what they are doing
its literally illegal
And? Are you under the delusion that corporations can't just buy their way out of the law?
Turn my internet off
Hack the console and do whatever i please with it
Nintendo can't do jack and shit
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Nintendo reserves the rights to brick your console following "unauthorised use", in bid to prevent priacy
This is fucking nothing though this is going to be hard for piratefags to play tendie games without reminding everyone including nintendo that they got these games for free
Oh, you're that anon who thinks that money is magic that can do anything.
STOOOP let me seethe about nintendo in peace
It is about consumer rights. We haven't adapted to recognize new deceptive practices for what they are.
Being anti-emulation isn't a consumers rights issue with the sale of the consoles, but it is with the sale of the game cartridges.
consumerrights.wiki
If you dont like it, go elsewhere.
Thanks, but I'll stick to Steam.
Don't know why Bowser of team Xecuter and modded hardware are even mentioned here. Emulation for personal use is legal but these actors were clearly infringing by making a profit off the selling of modified consoles
When you have enough of it, yes it is. Come on, have you never heard of the most popular legal tactic that they use, aka stalling a court case until the other side goes bankrupt, so they get a default ruling in their favor?
nintendo has been saying they'll do this since 2011 and never did it. it's just a scare tactic. they'd get sued if they actually did it.
It is about consumer rights
It's not, you're literally not a consumer. Are you confusing the words consume and consumer? Because they mean two different things.
but it is with the sale of the game cartridges.
That doesn't answer anything. But what did I expect from people who think that this
Take away the consumer's right to say "NO".
Is possible as if they're capable of controlling your ability to research and create informed decisions.
Oh no, not the poor little pirates.
you are an actual fucking mongoloid
yes, money can give you power
but it cannot, and i repeat, can fucking not; allow you to literally and publically say 'hey, don't mind us we're just gonna be breaking the law because we feel like it'
aka stalling a court case until the other side goes bankrupt, so they get a default ruling in their favor?
I assume you got that nonsense from the bleem case.
If Nintendo made a $1000 version of their console that played games at 4k 240fps, I would fucking buy it. Imagine thinking that the money is the problem like some poorfag.
i'd report my crack dealer to the police if he didn't give me crack in exchange for my money
Doesn't Sony and MS have these exact things in their T&C? Of course the internet thinks its only bad when Nintendo does it kek
When you buy a machine, you are buying the right not just to use the machine, but to modify and resell it.
Yeah, just about every piece of hardware with proprietary software does.
money doesn't let corporations do what they want
Tell that to the IRS, who literally got gaped open by Microsoft. And how about those anti-monopoly laws that exist to keep companies from growing too big, and again Microsoft just shrugged them off and laughed?
This. John Deere got fucked up the ass for trying to prevent people from modifying their tractors. You never see Sony or Microsoft suing people for modifying PlayStations and Xboxes. Why is Nintendo exempt?
tendies love to be scammed
It's only wrong when Nintendo does it.
You mean the same tactic Disney tried to use against Gina Carano and got btfod over it. Injunction isn't a guarantee
I fucking hate jewtendo and their fan boys
Disabling the software, so the system becomes unusable, almost as if they bricked it
This flavor of the week outrage is a nothing burger. This doesn't affect normal paying customers.
You don't have a right to piracy.
I swear its like the internet thinks Nintendo should make their shit free with the way it hyper focuses on them, never seen so much entitlement.
Aren't there legal non-profits that throw their support behind the little guy when stuff like this happens? Where are the most reliable ones, and where can I support them?
Yeah, because her suit was literally funded by Elon Musk.
Vimm's Lair gets fucked by vidya companies
Who ca-
Nintendo was one of the companies
NINTENDO JUST KILLED VIMM'S LAIR, PRESERVATION TAKES A DEVESTATING BLOW
Injunction is dependent on judge
All it takes is one false positive that can be proven in court for Nintendo to regret this decision.
It's bad when they do it too. I don't buy sony and I use windows as little as I can get away with.
So you don't actually have any real examples.
More like it's dependent on how much the judge gets paid.
yup
gonna need sources on that since your attempting to move goalposts
can fucking not; allow you to literally and publically say 'hey, don't mind us we're just gonna be breaking the law because we feel like it'
You are a fucking moron. That happens all the damn time.
Fags like you are why farmers have to sue to repair their own tractors in America
based
Don't go online with modded consoles retard. How many times do you have to learn this lesson.
Console age is over. Imagine being a company like Nintendo and basically admitting that your company is held up by exclusives
Which is why you have to make up instances of it happening.
Meanwhile a little old woman with coffee on her legs is laughing at you.
just ignore all the blatant corruption in congress, and lobbying that should be outlawed but goes ignored in every single court proceeding and case law
ignore how Disney shoved money into politicians' pockets to extend copyright law to 150 years
ignore how Nintendo can literally file patents AFTER a competing game comes out, and then retroactively uses them to sue said game
ignore sony destroying Bleem over frivolous court cases, even though Bleem was redeemed and in the right according to the presiding judges
NONE OF THOSE EXAMPLES COUNT, CHUD. THE LAW IS PERFECT AND CAN NEVER BE QUESTIONED
And don't even get me started on monsanto.
man with platform that has no exclusives
EXCLUSIVES BAD
I thought it was common sense to not allow pirated software and modified hardware to connect to the internet.
You mean... Like every single console to date other than the ps4 and 5?
I thought Gachafags were the most retarded posters here. Guess I was wrong, it's actually tendies.
sometimes a court case can't be defended
that means corruption never happens
EU ToS unchanged
EU chads win again.
You don't have to be a fan of a specific company to know pirates are entitled shitbags.
So Nintendo invented locking down their hardware? Better tell MS and Sony
>ignore how Disney shoved money into politicians' pockets to extend copyright law to 150 years
Many people blame Disney but it wasn't just them, it was just about every relevant creator at the time.
>ignore how Nintendo can literally file patents AFTER a competing game comes out, and then retroactively uses them to sue said game
Which never happened, they filed the patents in 2021 and 22 in Japan and the US respectively, the process takes two years, add 2 to 22 and what do you get?
>ignore sony destroying Bleem over frivolous court cases, even though Bleem was redeemed and in the right according to the presiding judges
Which didn't work the way you thought seeing as this is your only example of "extending" a trial. Which of course was many trials with Sony losing in a fair amount of them. In fact bleem is the best example of money not getting the win automatically given Sony losing the initial case was the reason they got so butthurt.
You tried and failed.
I'd argue that the corpos who feel entitled to your money while also feeling like they should not give you ownership of the product you buy are more entitled. Piracy is often an availability issue and studies have been done showing it doesn't have a negative impact on sales.
console age is over
muh ps5
lay off the hrt tendie xister and actually read the posts your replying to
I'll just never connect it to the Internet. Problem solved.
i played pirated dark souls 1 on ps3 with custom firmware for a few months and didn't get banned, on the official servers before they got shut down
Piracy is often an availability issue
You being a poor brown entitled third worlder that needs to work a whole month to afford a $70 game is not an availability issue.
This seems like a really fast way to get sued after Apple did something similar with throttling the performance of old iPhone and iPad models to force upgrades. Somebody spoonfeed me, I'm not reading OP's article.
>sometimes a court case can't be defended
You're joking right? They defended the fuck out of it and by all rights Mcdonalds should have won that since
1) she's the one who put the cup in her lap
2) the coffee wasn't any hotter than others at the time
But they still lost. It's a case that proves that no matter how big you are you can't just pay your way out.
Back during covid lockdowns everyone was playing COD warzone, until millions of people got banned for cheating overnight. The default response was 'you've been caught cheating we don't make mistakes you cant appeal it'.
After a few days Activision admitted they'd fucked up and unbanned everyone.
But funny seeing everyone on forums say 'you've been cheating and are just upset you've been caught daddy is never wrong'
nintendo defence force on action
and actually read the posts your replying to
He says as he only read the "PS5" of one post.
It’s basically what the title says, no reading required
on action
hello third world ESL sonyfag
after Apple did something similar with throttling the performance of old iPhone and iPad models to force upgrades.
That's not even remotely close to the same thing.
The default response was 'you've been caught cheating we don't make mistakes you cant appeal it'.
Ah, the World of Warcraft approach. "Our totally not automated system caught you, you're banned forever, don't try and escalate this ticket, we'd hate to actually pay a human to review it"
You have no argument. When you buy nintendo, you're paying for the nintendo experince. Anyone who tries to use their games and system in a way other than how nintendo's developers intended them to be used is insanely entitled. People who do nuzlocks and people who don't find all the koroks deserve to be locked up.
Many people blame Disney but it wasn't just them, it was just about every relevant creator at the time.
You mean all the people with money, because only a retard would support 150 year long copyright laws.
Which never happened, they filed the patents in 2021 and 22 in Japan and the US respectively, the process takes two years, add 2 to 22 and what do you get?
You get something that shouldn't be admissible in court, because the patents weren't finalized yet? You shouldn't be able to patent basic mechanics in the first place, if we're being honest.
Which didn't work the way you thought seeing as this is your only example of "extending" a trial. Which of course was many trials with Sony losing in a fair amount of them. In fact bleem is the best example of money not getting the win automatically given Sony losing the initial case was the reason they got so butthurt.
That's because sony are a bunch of idiots, but they still won by bleeding Bleem dry with excessive court costs and bankrupting them. But you still think that's a win for the court system, so you're not exactly the sharpest tool in the drawer.
Mc Donald's lost that case by their own retardation.
Yes it's for the US terms only. America just got finished abolishing what little consumer rights protections they had so it's all good.
They defended the fuck out of it and by all rights Mcdonalds should have won
And the corporate shill reveals himself.
They were also serving it far hotter than their competitors
unauthorized use
It's MY computer hardware that I paid for, if I want to install an emulator to play hentai games under RPG Maker I will do it and I'm ready to die for it
Not my heckin $400 console! Better spend $450,000 taking Nintendo to court!
Retard
the coffee wasn't any hotter than others at the time
That's the problem. Mcdonalds policy was to serve dangerously hot coffee to ALL their customers.
what you retards think they are doing is literally illegal so obviously that isn't what they are doing
That's for a court to decide, not you. That's why people are upset by this. The only way this gets proven illegal is if they have the money and patience to fight Nintendo's lawyers in court and the pinkerton's that Nintendo usually hires when they make examples of people
And nobody is going to do that over a $500 switch.
but it cannot, and i repeat, can fucking not; allow you to literally and publically say 'hey, don't mind us we're just gonna be breaking the law because we feel like it'
Clearly neither of you know anything about civil case law so you need to shut the fuck up. Civil law isn't criminal law. they can put anything they want in their EULA but it's up to a court to decide if it's illegal or not, and that's why people are outraged about it.
This shit btw is exactly why EULA's and other shrinkwrap contracts aren't considered binding contracts in the EU. Because Nintendo is by far not the first company to abuse them.
You mean all the people with money
No it's creators in general.
because only a retard would support 150 year long copyright laws.
Thing is, if you're a creator it's literally harmless.
If you're someone who can't think then it's the worst thing in the world since you can't make money off of someone elses idea. By the by you probably have some kind of copyright on something you've posted online.
You get something that shouldn't be admissible in court, because the patents weren't finalized yet?
Not how patents work, while you don't own it until it's published the protection is retroactive to the filing date for obvious reasons. That being that you obviously filed it officially and there's evidence of it existing before the infringing material.
but they still won by bleeding Bleem dry with excessive court costs and bankrupting them.
But not the way you claimed with a single case being extended. That also means that if all the cases were clear cut for bleem Sony would have 100% wasted all of their money and bleem would still exist more.
This is the sad fact of the matter, Nintendo is free to stomp on and fuck any and all consumers over this and the only way they will really stop is when they fuck over and stomp enough consumers that a class action lawsuit happens, and the current administration is trying to do away with those altogether.
and the current administration is trying to do away with those altogether.
Why?
You should be asking for a source not why.
You mean all the people with money
No it's creators in general.
Wrong. At the time, the major IP industry was fighting against the Sonny Bono act.
sfgate.com
en.wikipedia.org
You just don't know about it because they lost, not because there weren't creators opposing it. The creators opposing it were textbook manufacturers who couldn't use proper attributions to things that were 100 years old at the time, colleges of art, copyright lawyers.
nternet publisher Eric Eldred was the lead petitioner, and was joined by a group of commercial and non-commercial interests who relied on the public domain for their work (including Dover Publications) and many amici including the Free Software Foundation, the American Association of Law Libraries, the Bureau of National Affairs, and the College Art Association. Eldred was represented by Lawrence Lessig and a team at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society.[1]
You just don't know about it because you have a surface level understanding of the topic and haven't done any real research into it. You would rather live in a fantasy land believing that it's not a pyramid scheme held up by money.
No it's creators in general.
Then these people are filthy hypocrites, since more than half of them constantly leech from public domain. They have no right to talk about preserving IPs.
Thing is, if you're a creator it's literally harmless.
Unless you want to make a video game involving any idea that's been copyrighted or patented in the past 100 years. Can't make a game about jumping, catching monsters, flying, using vehicles, driving a taxi, having arrows in your UI, having a UI period, or anything that corporations have pre-emptively patented. Please tell me, what good did it do for Namco to patent minigames on loading screens, when they never used it themselves? Did the nemesis system being patented ever benefit the industry?
Not how patents work, while you don't own it until it's published the protection is retroactive to the filing date for obvious reasons.
So again, they don't have to reveal it to anyone, and can patent anything they want, and then sue people they don't like. And you don't see a problem with this.
That also means that if all the cases were clear cut for bleem Sony would have 100% wasted all of their money and bleem would still exist more.
But Bleem still died because sony could just keep pushing them through the ringer for no reason.
But you're really interested in legitimate discussing. You're just shitposting. Let me guess, you're gonna call me a brown third worlder too, aren't you? Maybe you'll argue that piracy is always bad no matter what, and that you shouldn't be allowed to alter a company's product without permission.
Why are people who aren't even consumers (pirates) preemptively complaining about a console they don't even own or intend to buy in the first place, and most importantly, making an outrage of this when it's been like that ever since consoles from competitors have had online? Why the fuck would you connect your modded console to Nintendo's servers in the first place? What kind of retard would do that?
I believe anything that orange wackjob would do at this point.
only in America, fortunately I live in Australia and our consumer laws are too strong for you to fuck with - Steam learned that the hard way.
Please keep in mind, according to patent law, you don't have to create something to own the patent. You just have to be the first person TO patent it. So a company can literally steal your idea out from under you, if you're too slow to rush to the patent office.
Class Actions are incredibly damaging to corporations
calaborlaw.com
But looking again, it started as a California supreme court decision that hasn't made its way up the chain yet.
Because I miss playing games on real hardware, and I want to protect the people in my family who do buy games from nintendo.
In theory, in legal theory, any and all prior art is a death sentence for patents and patent law. That's just not the practical theory because money speaks louder than words, and it only takes one clerk at the patent office to grant something that is so ubiquitous as to be practically public domain. see Xerox's patent on printers that was used as a weapon against network printing for almost 30 years, each time being renewed so it didn't expire.
Why are people who aren't even consumers (pirates)
Why are you assuming I'm a pirate and what fucking right do you have to tell me that II shouldn't care about Nintendo doing the ultimate corporate cuck move?
Tractors and game consoles are completely different things.
Are you a pirate?
more like snitch LMAO
Unless you want to make a video game involving any idea that's been copyrighted or patented in the past 100 years
NTA but... Just don't?
You don't have to make a sonic game to have a platformer and you don't have to make a mechanic the exact same way to use that concept.
You're just proving that it's only an issue to people who can't create.
Can't make a game about jumping, catching monsters, flying, using vehicles, driving a taxi, having arrows in your UI, having a UI period, or anything that corporations have pre-emptively patented.
Copyright and patents don't get in the way of this. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of how IP law works.
If you use any Nintendo products at all, you wave your rights to sue Nintendo.
Nintendo can do no wrong!
How and why? They're both complex machines that you should have complete ownership of once you buy. And frustratingly they both connect to the internet now.
damn tendies are not a cultist level yet, please nintendo increase the console price, I want even more unhinged tendies
So does posting this every day raise your rank in the anti-Nintendo cult?
Why are you assuming I'm a pirate
Gee I wonder why you would be upset at this, then.
muh homebrew
Awesome, then you don't need to connect to nintendo's services if you're purely modding your console for homebrewing and shouldn't be worried.
I shouldn't care about Nintendo doing the ultimate corporate cuck move?
Okay then, why do you care so much?
You don't have to make a sonic game to have a platformer and you don't have to make a mechanic the exact same way to use that concept.
Tell that to Palworld. Nintendo is just pulling random patents out of their ass to try and destroy them, just because their game got a little too popular.
Copyright and patents don't get in the way of this. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of how IP law works.
If that was true, then Nintendo wouldn't try to shut down Palworld. If it really was JUST about the patents, then Nintendo would only ask them to remove the infringing mechanics, and let the rest of the game stay. Is Nintendo doing that?
Palworld is unoriginal, but it is unambiguously a product that people want and that wouldn't have been made without the effort of it's creators. The only way to violate IP law is by creating something.
Complete ownership doesn't entitle you to downloading free shit because you hacked the game console and can pull ROMs from a website.
How and why?
Tractors are a necessity, game consoles are not.
but PALWORLD though! LEAVE THE MULTIMILLION COMPANY ALONE!
Just don't 1:1 rip off patented concepts from other companies and proudly admit to doing it multiple times, and make your own, simple as.
Why are you equating all modification with piracy?
Why can't the free market decide which product deserves to live? Why does the government need to even intervene?
Also don't openly brag about being a pirate and modding your system.
The world was better when nintendo got away with a 1:1 rip off.
defending nintendo, who are notrious copyright law abusers
show me your nose!
So if I legally buy a game first, then I mod it and change it as much as I want, right? Including a complete decryption of the encrypted files. It's my product, I paid you for it, you no longer get a say.
nintendo also ripped off the contractors they paid to do the coding for the original donkey kong, and only paid up after they got sued.
LEAVE THE POOR MULTIMILLION COMPANY ALONE! LET THEM BREAK THE LAW IN PEACE!
lol
Sure, just don't let Nintendo see it.
Nintendo isn't gonna brick someone for fixing a D-Pad, this is only going to affect someone trying to jailbreak it.
let them break the law in peace
When tyranny becomes law, disobedience becomes duty.
Why are you defending Universal Studios? They shouldn't be the only people allowed to make media about giant apes.
Piratefags seem to think they're moral crusaders or part of a cause when they specifically go after Nintendo for some
finally, someone gets it.
then I mod it and change it as much as I want, right? Including a complete decryption of the encrypted files.
The DMCA (and equivalent laws in most first world countries) says it's illegal, unfortunately. And Nintendo doesn't have a say in this, I'm afraid.
Feel free to do it, but make sure people don't know ;) (this of course also includes not connecting your console to Nintendo servers like a retard).
Cry about it macaco
You still got raped n gaped thoughbeit
Dont worry, I hate all corporations equally. I'm the guy that posted Nintendo aren't as bad as Monsanto or Disney, but they're still abusing the law for their own ends.
Why shouldn't I be able to jailbreak it? The crime is piracy, so why are you trying to move the line to enclose more? What if I just want to play the BotW multiplayer mod? Or run PC exclusive games on my switch?
The mole that keeps its head down doesn't get whacked.
The DMCA (and equivalent laws in most first world countries) says it's illegal,
Why? I bought a product, shouldn't I be able to modify it?
Is it really that hard to not be a racist, homophobic, sexist, transphobic incel?
Yeah, it is.
Watch out we've got fucking Robespierre in here.
Cry about it macaco, you still got raped n gaped tho
And stop samefagging and ban evading
Sure, just don't tell anyone and stay offline.
Why indeed! But why are you asking me? I don't make the law, I'm just informing you.
the biggest rat eats the most cheese
you actually can't sign away your consumer rights, any agreement that would revoke them is invalid. At least in the EU
Just don't share it online and you're good.
You file share it and your engaging in piracy.
Tell that to Palworld.
You mean the game that made by a company that admits that they just replicate what other games do?
You know the point was that it's not an issue for people who create right? Palworld is the worst example for you since it's not like they tried to do something different they just copied several patented methods.
What's even funnier is that with the throwing mechanic they had a non-infringing version in craftopia so had they used that and in the case of gliding just added vertical control, they would have been fine.
If that was true, then Nintendo wouldn't try to shut down Palworld
What. They aren't telling them to shut down palworld.
pocketpair.jp
On pocketpair's own site they say that they're just looking for 10m yen which is just under 70k dollars.
If they wanted them to shut down the game why would pocket pair, a company that already tried to pull the
oh sorry we jussa smarr indie compnee!
card not have that there?
This is why modern Anon Babble is so awful, you people just get angry without knowing what you're even getting angry about.
Wouldn't it be enough that Nintendo doesn't allow you to connect to their servers?
i will always fight for the right to modify products you purchased, but for once I can agree that you shouldn't freely share them online.
Wont work in yuropoorland.
All this shkt must be signed before the purchase there, otherwise its null and void and grounds for exceptionally big fines
B-but what if nintendo just pays--
Ask apple how that went for them and their chargers. Not to mention repeated offenses dont end at fines, and ninty aint gonna lose like a third of their cusromers worldwide.
Wait, wasn't this always the case? I remember that they did stuff like this back in the Wii days.
Why can't the free market decide which product deserves to live?
Because if you didn't notice the free market is made up of people who are very easily manipulated. That's why you're here defending palworld.
you must let me modify your OS/game despite me having agreed to terms of use that explicitly prohibit this due to people being able to exploit those modifications to pirate games or cheat online, and you must let me connect and use your service on top of that
i swear that i'm a good boy though, i would never do that!
hmmm no
We need a better system for applying patches to roms. As it is now, doing things the legal way is incredibly difficult.
You mean the game that made by a company that admits that they just replicate what other games do?
And they should be allowed to. They didn't steal any pokemon designs. They're derivative. I'm sorry if I believe that the free market should be allowed to dictate whether they live or not. Millions of people clearly liked the game, so why should they suffer because Nintendo got jealous?
Because if you didn't notice the free market is made up of people who are very easily manipulated.
Demonstrated by your post, where you show an almost-religious level of reverence to the government, as if they're not corrupt and scummy.
sued over patent infringement
muh pokemon designs
you don't even know what you're talking about
yield
It's clear that's why Nintendo is going after them. They hate that Palworld is siphoning the "cute monsters fight eachother" genre, but can't get them on a copyright violation, so they're going for the frivolous patent angle instead.
They never do.
Why is demand for bootlegs bad? It isn't a sign of market manipulation, it's evidence that there is genuine demand for bootlegs. Demand that is unserved in legal markets,
have fun playing it in 15 years
It's clear that's why Nintendo is going after them
It's clear that you're a retard.
those patents can be used to sue games like half-life let alone monster catchers.
Ah yes, not worshipping corporations makes someone a retard.
not worshipping corporations makes someone a retard.
No. Comparing apples to oranges like you did above does makes you a retard, on the other hand.
It's clear that's why Nintendo is going after them
Yeah, because they're a company known for shamelessly stealing and everyone hated them for it long before Nintendo was involved.
They hate that Palworld is siphoning the "cute monsters fight eachother" genre,
No, palworld is very very low on the rung in that regard, they have to get past Digimon, yugioh, DQ, magic and whatever elses merch sales and cultural relevance to get within a stones throw of pokemon and they're already at Yokai Watch tiers irrelevance with the lawsuit being the only thing keeping them in the public eye.
You're literally blindly defending a corporate entity in pocketpair to the point where you're disregarding reality to replace it with your own.
irrelevent
still getting sued
damn, nintendo are bigger fags than I thought
No, they can't. You don't know what you're talking about. Patents can't be vague, if you read in an article or a Anon Babble thread that "nintendo patented flying!" then you're a gullible retard. Make your own research.
irrelevent
>still getting sued
It's almost as if theft doesn't care about how popular you aren't.
Yeah, because they're a company known for shamelessly stealing and everyone hated them for it long before Nintendo was involved.
And yet they made a game that tons of people enjoy. Why shouldn't they be allowed to exist? By your logic I could hate Nintendo for constantly shitting on people because they want to enjoy mods and romhacks for games. guess they're also bad, by your logic.
No, palworld is very very low on the rung in that regard,
Then Nintendo could've just let them die off and that would've been the end of it. To sue them over something so petty means that clearly they felt threatened.
To be honest, I'm not even a big fan of Palworld, but I hate Nintendo's legal shenanigans more.
Patents can't be vague
are you kidding?
install hack on hardware
system update rolls out
update like a retard
system ends up bricked
WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO, YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SUPPORT MY MODS.
why are modern day pirates all such pussies?
just like nintendo v universal
good thing universal won and stopped those thieves!
oh wait...
Show me the vague patent that Nintendo is using to "patent troll" Pocketpair, and do make sure to highlight in what way it's vague.
I'm not even a big fan of Palworld, but I hate Nintendo's legal shenanigans more.
That's even worse. You literally have no reason to suck their cock but you're doing it anyway.
Show me the vague patent
show me ANY patent not written in legalese
It's almost as if I despise any corporation abusing the legal system. Hell, I'd defend a literal thief over any corporate scumbag.
I despise any corporation abusing the legal system
corporate scumbag
Why are you here defending Pocketpair then? lol
Because pocketpair hasn't abused the legal system yet.
Ahh so they want to be like apple and tesla
If I was, then maybe it's because they're NOT throwing around frivolous lawsuits.
And yet they made a game that tons of people enjoy
Okay? And? What does that have to do with anything? It doesn't change the fact that they're looked down upon. In fact their public option worsened with just about everywhere other than America calling them out for what they're doing.
Why shouldn't they be allowed to exist?
It could exist, had they actually put the effort in to be original which isn't that hard but they chose not to. They chose to steal and attempt to manipulate people.
It's karmic justice that they're being sued.
Then Nintendo could've just let them die off and that would've been the end of it.
No because the problem is that they're still stealing from other games, their next game is literally a hollow knight rip off.
You can't just expect people to learn what they're doing is wrong is they aren't punished for it.
To sue them over something so petty means that clearly they felt threatened.
No because like is said, they don't matter. They were never a threat especially after the announcement of ZA.
They're just the epitome of a scummy company. One that you should hate but somehow don't despite not even being a fan by your own admission.
implying stealing from other games because you know there's no copyright/patent on them. Isn't a burning the system.
dont do anything illegal, thus nit breaking the ToS I signed up for
nothing happens to my console
Nothing to hide, nothing to fear.
So you're defending them precisely because they're an evil company
ripping off other companies's work doesn't count as being a scumbag or abusing the legal system
ok
tell that to universal studios
return monke
In fact their public option worsened with just about everywhere other than America calling them out for what they're doing.
You mean corporate bootlickers hate them? Wtf I thought you said they were supposed to be bad
It could exist, had they actually put the effort in to be original which isn't that hard but they chose not to.
Then pray tell, what IS original?
their next game is literally a hollow knight rip off.
You didn't care when Nine Sols did it, why bring it up now?
They're just the epitome of a scummy company.
And yet they're less scummy than Nintendo, who throws around lawsuits willy nilly.
Then Nintendo should pay reparations to Universal, since they stole the concept of King Kong for their Mario game.
but what about [irrelevant shit]
ok
can't return monke
your days are numbered nintendo!!!
p-pay reparations!
Universal Studios should just sue Nintendo for those reparations then. They won't, of course.
the coffee wasn't any hotter than others at the time
Wrong. At least look up the facts, retard.
stealing is okay as long as you're a big corporation who can bribe judges
universal studios is less litigious than nintendo
burgers rise...
throws around lawsuits willy nilly
That's just your opinion, man. Who the fuck do you think you are?
Someone who isn't a big corporation, and thus sees no use in frivolous lawsuits and copyright laws?
Nintendo manchildren love taking it up the ass for nintendo.
Universal already did, and Nintendo won. That's why Nintendo winning when they sue other people in the same way Universal did is so wrong. Nintendo was able to become great because they grew under a better legal framework, and now that they're big they've decided to contribute to destroying that framework where people who create things are protected from companies resting on their past successes.
I mean yeah, updating your modded console would brick it, that was pretty common knowledge. If you were retarded enough to update your modded Wii, you deserved to get bricked. That's also why Priiloader was a thing, and why guides always tell you to make a backup before modding your Wii.
stealing
Prove it.
frivolous
But it's not frivolous. That's just your opinion. Prove that it's frivolous with facts.
why are modern day pirates all such pussies?
Wait, so you're advocating that corporations be able to remotely disable products that you've bought? Would you defend Microsoft locking your computer permanently too?
Do you think NVidia should have the right to decide that your RTX4080 should stop working tomorrow? Or that Logitech should remotely disable your keyboard?
prove it
Then you can't steal the concept of an idea, so Palworld stole nothing. Nice self-own, genius.
Don't like it? Just buy another switch :^))))))))))
you can't steal the concept of an idea
Correct.
Palworld stole nothing
We aren't talking about stealing "things" here.
They infringed on Nintendo's patents by copying the implementation 1:1, and that's why they're being sued. And they ripped off other companies too.
You can keep playing on words and trying to muddle things up, it's not working.
sure, I already got one pre-ordered but I'll get another one
You mean corporate bootlickers hate them?
Oh no, they love them. I mean you're defending them with your life right now while normal people with integrity hate them.
what IS original?
Simple answer, new.
A new method
A new theme
A new style
An innovative way of doing a mechanic
None of which can be used to describe their games since they all have mechanics, styles and themes are all taken from other games.
You didn't care when Nine Sols did it,
Does this look like hollow knight?
why bring it up now?
The point is to show that they just don't care, they're only in it for the money. They don't even care enough about their players to make the minute changes needed to keep the game the same.
who throws around lawsuits willy nilly.
Nah, theft is considerably more scummy than defending your property. Would you call someone who shot a burglar scummy?
Why is infringing on patents wrong? Nothing is stolen, nothing is destroyed. None of nintendo's or nintendo's employee's rights are violated when someone infringes on their patents.
Yes, and the solution is surprisingly easy - don't purchase the product. I know this sounds crazy, but you actually don't *need* the latest bing bing wahoo machine. Maybe wait the initial two weeks after release and download the inevitable Switch 2 emulator, then directly take money from Nintendo's fat pockets while not contributing to anti-consumer business practices. Simple, right?
Yeah be rich and take them to court, otherwise not really
Why is infringing on patents wrong?
Why don't you answer your own disingenuous question and ask your favorite LLM? Have fun!
square enix should immediately sue gamefreak
Okay, I'll answer it. Infringing on patents isn't wrong, and enforcing patents is always a violation of other people's property rights. If enforced consistently, all of us would be eating raw food until we tracked down the descendant of the first man who made fire.
still did not say why he thinks it's frivolous
Why is infringing on patents wrong?
Look at it this this way anon, you spent say three years in secret building something that could revolutionise the world, doesn't matter how but it's revolutionary and you sell this at a reasonable price to recoup the money spent on it.
But then someone immediately comes and takes your idea and copies it, they know it will work because you did all of the testing and what not so they have no losses to account for other than materials. This means that they can both undercut you and sell at a gross profit.
Who is in the wrong here?
They infringed on Nintendo's patents by copying the implementation 1:1,
Maybe Nintendo should've made a better product, and then nobody would touch Palworld. The failing is solely on the big N.
Oh no, they love them. I mean you're defending them with your life right now
Nope, I'm only defending the freedom of the market, to not be hampered by unnecessary government regulations. I must remind you to not make unfounded claims like that.
people with integrity hate them
People with integrity would despise all corporations and all copyright law. You damn bootlicker.
An innovative way of doing a mechanic
Palworld is basically "what if you could shoot at pokemon with guns and use them in your chinese sweat shops to make t-shirts for people". Sounds innovative to me, unless this idea has already been done to death. Again, not defending Palworld here, but I'd love to see who else did this.
The point is to show that they just don't care, they're only in it for the money
So wanting to make money is bad? Then Nintendo should stop charging money for their video games and release them for free.
Nah, theft is considerably more scummy than defending your property.
Ideas aren't property. That's an obscenely stupid concept.
Maybe Nintendo should've made a better product
If they didn't then you wouldn't be here to defend pal wort.
bro, nobody is installing gunpowder packets in your system and detonating them when they find out you've hacked something. the "we may brick your system" is just corporate covering their own ass for when you fuck up your mod work and an update bricks it because it wasn't compatible with your mod.
Ideas should be allowed to thrive without government intervention.
B-BUT LE CHINESE COULD TAKE YOUR IDEA
Then make it better then what they could offer. Or simply stop worshipping the idea of making money so much. Maybe you should just make something for the sake of it.
Who is in the wrong here?
Nobody. Revolutionizing the world is more important than you making money.
You did not answer *why* you think it's not wrong, like you asked. You only paraphrased it. I'm asking it again then, why is it not wrong?
Maybe Pocketpair should've made their own implementation. The failing is solely on Pocketpair.
