this mission specifically, i just didn't have the patience to drive to the place every single time i died, so i just gave up and abandoned the game

i'm not sure i was able to or if it would have helped, this was within a week of the game's release on 360, never touched the story since.
if it doesn't have checkpoints i'm just not gonna bother, it's wasting my time. gta v was difficult as is.

The bad thing about GTA 4 is that it was basically a reboot and stripped 70% of the features San Andreas had to be more like GTA 3 with bikes and bowling.
liberty city is huge and beautiful but they don't do anything with it
GTA 4 may have implemented new features and showcased a higher level of tech, it did poorly in terms of major game elements like driving and shooting which were handled better in games like San Andreas, GTA3, etc. and main character/main story is just ass. Honestly no great characters in the whole game

I remember my dad got Vice City when I was a kid. He would let me drive the cars around but wouldn't let me do crime. One time he had to go off and do something and he told me I could keep playing but not do do anything bad. 30 minutes later my mum walked in and saw me shooting up the police station. My dad got in big trouble...

it feel way too serious at times and as a result boring, its the most realistic and grounded GTA to date still and a pure mid-late 00's nostalgia time capsule So I will still applaud it for its unique atmosphere.

Peak atmosphere, best soundtrack and talk radio, great characters, interesting friend system.
That said, it’s a product of its era and very flawed. GTA V is the opposite - instead of arty and contemplative, it plays very well and focuses on blockbuster action. The irony is V is beautiful but its soul is ugly.
