Parry torture simulator

parry torture simulator

I'm at act 3 and I never need to use parry. Sometimes I'll parry if I know I won't die if I mess up since counter does nice damage, but dodging is easier and more than enough to beat enemies.

Anon, you can faceroll the game with dodges only

fake depth gameplay

goty

lmao

dodging

you didnt beat the game

Game must be really good if Anon Babble suddenly hates it this much. It's notoriously known that Anon Babble is full of shitters who can't play videogames.

I hate how they couldn't just have shit attack you normally but they had to copy Elden Ring's desperate attempt at difficulty by implementing retarded looking delays
Can't wait to see in what way From will ruin video games next

The animations for parry fake-out delays are pretty fucking lame, but I like that the game shifts down focus from punishing failure to instead reward repeating fights with low barriers and rewarding learning enemy attacks and timings. This approach in SMT would make learning how to buff and debuff for bosses way more fun.

I just started the game and I'm already getting filtered. The lifeless faces during conversations, using terms with no context, the messy UI... starting to look like this game isn't for me

what does that mean? in the SMT games you’re forced to use buffs and debuffs because you have NOTHING left. Im curious about what you’re referring to with the parrying in e33

its a game based on exploration, personally im glad they didnt throw exposition dumps at me

sell me on the exploration anon

I haven't learned any new skills since Act 1. The skills are balanced by costing more AP so they aren't actually any better the further into the game you go because you can do the 'better' ones less often.

its a game based on exploration

Is it?
The exploration in this game is quite literally mediocre.

The lifeless faces during conversations

Cutscene animations and animations outside of cutscenes having varying quality is not really rare Tbqh

using terms with no context

You learn what it means as the game goes on, it's just a writing style

Margit has trained me for this very moment...

lore wise, i mean
if you pick up the expedition journals and listen to the cryptic npc dialogues you can always stay ahead of the main plot a bit, feels very rewarding

I mean, e33 is set up so that you can try and fail and try again easily. SMT would benefit from this immensely. A common issue I have and complaint I hear from others is how its hard to anticipate what a boss will require of you and constraints to party composition and how slow going from a game over to confronting the boss again makes the process of trialing and adapting tedious and unfun.

E33 kills you quick, you learn quick, and get back in and try harder. Its easy to change up your composition and team's skill setup to suit your needs. Adaptation is easy.

I just skipped all my turns so I could parry without killing the enemy too quickly because the rest of teh combat is so boring.

story shit

oh :(

The issue with making QTEs and parrdodge system means that every turn is now super long

Having trouble building Lune.
I want her to have the aoe heal (with the rush picto) . I have given up on the resurrect since there are more than enough phoenix downs, i havent fought a boss yet that made me run out of resurrect potions.
So i have 5 slots for damage and would like to keep Mayhem for break. So 4 skills for dmg and producing stains.
Yet i can't find a setup im comfortable with.
Maelle and Verso are doing fine, althought i have gotten Verso not too long ago so im still tinkering with him.

well you did ask about terms not being explained, i replied to that
the gameplay of exploration is a bit barebones but you will always get rewarded for wandering around, very fun hidden bossfights

so more qol? yeah itd be nice but i think the save spots in V/VV were generous enough

Nah, having to read the lore to understands the plot is some tedious FFXIII shit, that's just bad, period.

I finished the game with a trainer (god mode, instant kill, auto parry auto dodge) when I figured out it was a waste of my time

You don't have to, you just get to the conclusion before the main story explains it all

Well it's shorter than mario and luigi but infinitely less engaging and diverse.
These prompts are not even synced to anything either, they're just lazily placed and completely disconnected from your attack.
Shovel ware tier QTEs.

QTE.jpg - 594x572, 141.31K

work on your reading comprehension

The game is made trivially easy by the addition of dodge/parry. I'm planning to try and replay it without any QTE/parry/dodge to see if it's possible. I'm not really sure yet because I've barely used any defensive pictos because there is no point since your team can't be hit in normal gameplay.

multihit perfect parry into ultra parry against Dueliste

I balcked out in my gaming chair for a second and i don't even have epilepsy.
I love good video games.

Wildfire
Immolation
Electrify
Thermal Transfer
Use Trebuchim as your weapon for flexible stain generation for Mayhem

i thought Anon Babble hated QTEslop?

What do i do if i want my Lune to just do retard damage with fire spells?

Maelle's substitute skill while making her a tank probably goes a LONG way here. Of course there are AOE attacks, so you might have to overlevel to get through some points. Once you get gradients Maelle has the AOE revive too. Unsure if you can beat act 2 endbosses with 9999 damage cap and some of their stronger aoe attacks though. Once damage cap is gone you can just outscale everything with damage.

so from what ive gathered from this thread this game has barebones exploration, paper mario combat (literal baby’s first RPG) and its just storyshit for the rest?
I dont want to be rude but i just want to know if theres any value in actually PLAYING this game. I was meh on metaphor as a whole but i liked the press-turn combat, the dayplanning and the freedom of the class system (which ended up being a lie in the end as it railguards your ultimate archetypes) But whats the value in e33?

Git gud

Apply burn so Maelle can use it to go into virtuoso stance and then one shot something for 2 ap with percee.

alt-f4, uninstall, refund

Sorry but I just can't.

combat has some nifty synergies, a decent rhythm-based parry system and satisfying animations
if that doesnt sound appealing to you you probably arent going to get anything out of the gameplay

So how do I break the game, I kind of want to speed things up, i'm mid act 2.

by beating act 2

Nice capitalization amd punctuation.

A common issue I have and complaint I hear from others is how its hard to anticipate what a boss will require of you and constraints

This is a turn based issue inn general.
If you don't bring shield-breaking skills in ex33 in a boss that has a lot of them, you pretty much run a very sub-optimal build and you couldn't know.

What? No, that is not a problem. You get so many luminas that give you tons of AP every turn that as you go farther into the game you should be using only the higher cost ones that hit the hardest. That is actually the big problem with the game, AP is so generous that everything ends up balanced around the idea you are using extreme damage abilities so enemies health starts to scale up higher and higher forcing you to stack more and more luminas with damage modifiers. If you continue to use the shitty low AP low damage skills you got in Act I the side content will end up taking you an hour per fight just because you are doing no damage.

i had a 1.5 GPA ^_^

You could also just lower the difficulty, but I guess this would completely obliterate your nigh non-existent self-esteem.

just everything about this game is so inorganic
inorganic indie studio (weird chinese connections)
90% inorganic discussion on Anon Babble
fake innovation (paper mario has parries)
id feel bad for the devs that their game is being so weirdly treated but its just too shady to have much empathy for them

Switch 2 comes out in a month.
You'll survive.

I have the parry mod AND play on the easiest difficulty. Almost have Maelle at level 99 now.

Yeah,ff7 wasnt very interesting to play either, atb system sucked and doesnt make sense for turn based rpgs, but keep trying.

uninstalled after 10 hours. it's to easy to do too much damage and parry/dodge is overpowered. boring shit, glad i pirated.

if only the game gave you ways to earn ap quickly

is that really bad???

make her crit 100%

Elemental Trick

then Elemental Genesis for aoe, lightning dance for single target

I fully solved verso only in the endgame, before that I was running around with a sword that doesn't let you go lower than C so I can shoot good skills turn 1. I'm sure there's more efficient way to use him in midgame

can I go back to finish the act 3 side content after I finish the main story?

I just started playing, are white/clear stains "neutral" ones?
If a spell needs two red ones for increased damage will one red and one white do the same thing?

Shit is exhausting during long sessions
I just wanna chill while playing turn based RPGs not constantly react to shit. I have not parried as much in all my From game playthroughs since 2009 as I have in this game alone

yeah, that is the intended way, most of the overworld stuff is for high levels. you should raise relationship levels in the camp, that will give you level appropriate quests that will give you something to do before going straight to Lumiére

you will spawn in a flag like normal and can select to ng+ if you want to

file.png - 1920x1080, 2.23M

Why does this remain the best sword Gustave can use? No matter the level or skill, it's like it always does 50ish more damage than any other option

Lanceram.png - 1920x1080, 1.2M

just killed simon by stunlocking him with Verso, can't imagine killing him normally

Now what am i supposed to do?

99.jpg - 700x831, 85.56K

Wait for DLC

I should start choosing the weapon for the passive but only have had 1 level 10 upgrade (from raft volleyball) so i only unlock the level 4 passives so i just go for the one with the highest power.

Thats where im heading (trick and genesis) but i dont have enough points yet.
Might be worth a respec.

they hated him because he told them the truth

Capture.png - 1362x417, 132.75K

I'm sure there's more efficient way to use him in midgame

Verso breaks the game as soon as you get the Dualiso sword and extra ap with basic attack picto. You just turn 1 basic attack, instantly get another turn to use Phantom Stars (5 hit everything+break). Then you can start stacking damage and buff pictos on him. Anything that he doesn't kill will be broken.

seething japoid

love to see it

Please answer my question, gamers!

Get abilities that grant you shields and set up better combo/weapon synergy between your characters so enemies last less, you doofus

name 10 good tbd combat in videogames except baldur's tranny (I hate it personally)

Ah, it's gaming time

Bros, I’m just gonna say what we are all thinking: The expedition going into a hostile continent to beat an impossible enemy narrative is way more kino than painting computer sim. I was kinda bummed when they deleted that first narrative.

I hope the DLC is an alt scenario all about the expeditions and the continent and no painter metaverse BS

IMG_7222.jpg - 270x380, 20.94K

I'm sure real turn based games like FF7 that 10 year old beat mashing nothing but the attack button are pinnacles of strategy.

Even though there are viable tank builds for people who suck at parry/dodge

I don't think it was worth it to play on expert mode.

Because shills cannot defend the atrocious gameplay.
Having a skill based combat system is fine and all when and if the controls actually respond to the player's input.
Half the time the characters do not respond in time and you end up taking damage.
The skill system is chaotic and feels like the abilities were thrown in randomly.
It is a movie game.

I was quite weak on some bosses and had to rely a lot on strategy with buffs, heals, etc and that's where the combat shines the most imo
If you're overleveled and quite strong you just brute force with damage, melting every boss. It seemed quite boring from the few streams I watched where this happened and kinda robs the fun out of the game.

Thread about gameplay

Anon Babble exposes themselves as shitters once again

You can call it parryslop as many times as you want, but since Sekiro this combat has filtered the vast majority of you. Just admit you suck, rather than trying to shit on games that reward skill.

It's a valid way to play the game, showing how badly designed it is.
No afterthought at all.

skill issue

arcanefaggot is severly retarded

Imagine my shock

Yeah, no.

33.jpg - 1920x1080, 766.23K

I think the difficulty only scales the enemies back but doesn't make parry and dodging easier, right? I been hearing a lot of people gotten filtered even by playing it in storymode

Don't forget the cheater picto...
the only drawback from that weapon is that it is lightning element.

DS2 being 3rd

true

There are literally skills, buffs and pictos specifically for tank + heal + dps builds, you can beat the game without touching dodge button if you are not a brainlet.

Dodge is quite easy anyway. Not sure why you would need this.

Holy mother of filtered!

he will win. HARD.

TRVTH NVKE

based japs

when you lose

when i lose i realize i can do this i just need to focus better. Much better than let me go grind lower mobs for 6 hours to be strong enough. Japan loves adding in meaningless bloat like longer travel distance, sponguy hp mobs, and massive exp needed to level to add in time. none of it adds in fun though.

that would have made it feel a lot better.
they'd need cleaner animations too probably.

skill rewarding system

Parries are skill rewarding by definition, yes

whats next? solving math problems quickly? how about a system that complements turn based strategizing rather than shitting all over it and just using a parrying gimmick.

no he wont, he's old, his ego is massive, and he spends too much time oogling trans american actors.

READ NIGGA READ

file.png - 809x123, 60.12K

DS was kino, DS2 sounds like a sequel to DS so its going to be great.

That wasn't the argument though, the argument was that it's an unrewarding, and it isn't

This is not really true. When I lost to Simon for the first time I went back to redo my build and completely obliterated him in every phase first turn because fuck parrying.
You can both git gud or just equip proper lumina and skills to do more damage.

The problem is not parry by itself, it's the way the game fuck with you with feints, either on the animation, audio cue, visual cue (flashs of light) that prompt you to press the button just a bit too early. You don't get better at the game, you get better at a fight, and then when the next one drop, the delay you have to integrate to your parry timings change all over again.

It's infuriating, really. Some gradient attack are especially bullshit, with the ennemy doing 2 or 3 turns on themselve before actually attacking.

It's unrewarding in turn-based strategy games, which is what this game is. Take something like Matador in SMT3, that boss incentivizes you to use buffs/debuffs and you had to constantly replenish them so you would get an upper hand. There was no real-time timing gimmick, it was purely about strategic skill.

yes im agreeing and saying why that japanese guy is retarded.

I don't see how it follows that it would be unrewarding because it's in a turn based game. It's still rewarding even if it doesn't reward the same things a game of this genre typically rewards.
Also redoing your build based on the fight still happens in this game, and there are buffs and debuffs which are very relevant

youre not agreeing with me or the jap. Youre defending this games timing system, which goes against what the genre is about in the first place.

its rewarding in different genres yes, but being able to time shit is not what turn based strategy is about. How does me being able to parry attacks transfer to other turn based RPG's? it doesnt because its not relevant at all to the genre.

Some gradient attack are especially bullshit, with the ennemy doing 2 or 3 turns on themselve before actually attacking.

kek fucking clair obscur enemies
Yes. Exactly his point. There is no strategy you just have to learn attacks and time dodges/parries better.
