impressive from a technical/skill point but the design is ugly.

Megaman X4-6, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Project X Zone, honestly there's a ton of stuff that looks way better than Blasphemous.
Blasphemous was neat, but it only really stood out so well because it came out at a time when all pixel art indies looked like shit.

I evangelize HoMM3 as the pixel art masterclass, though Anon Babble has made good arguments for the Stronghold series being a more technically impressive feat.

what artlets brainlets fail to realize is that redrawing pixel art is 10 times more lengthy than redrawing normal art. the movement is made to save on redrawing. the animation is shitty yes but it is due to dev constraints.
the gameplay animations are highly polished and have high framecounts because you see them all the time.

i unironically think this game is good.
the only complain is that its "open world", which i hate, because i always afraid to miss something important (and i will, since TRUE ending requires you to do walkthrough in specific way)
if only devs would make it linear, i might even finished it.
