Deep Down never ever.
Deep Down never ever
Yeah kind of a bummer. Wonder what they did with all the assets.
It's capcom, they probably just deleted it like fucking retards they are.
Imagine scrapping a game that's 90% complete because you couldn't figure out an efficient way to monetize it.
They could have just sold it as is and figured out monetization based on player feedback. These fuckers want money but act like they're allergic to it.
>Imagine scrapping a game that's 90% complete because you couldn't figure out an efficient way to monetize it.
haha if people knew just how many hundreds of games befall this fate, heads would roll.
What if it just wasn't good?
I was really really hoping for Panta Rhei to continue MT Framework's legacy of black magic. RE Engine doesn't cut it.
Still seething about that
According to who, the internal playtesters who okayed Hyenas and Concord?
mite've been a cool new dungeon crawler
someone else should do it
or the playtesters that okayed Exoprimal. Still amazes me how Deep Down didn't get an okay, but Exoprimal did. But this is the Capcom higher-ups we're talking about, they have no clue.
monetization
No live service, gaas, mxt and forced online bullshit, pls.
because you couldn't figure out an efficient way to monetize it.
Is this real? What's wrong with selling for $60?
It was playable at TGS and Gamescom. Everyone that played it said it felt really good to play.
This wasn't some internal build that never saw the light of day. They showcased this game for YEARS, had it publicly playable and everything.
Yeah it was pretty much a given that it would be releasing then they pulled the plug at the last minute.
Is this real? What's wrong with selling for $60?
Yes. Ono said the biggest hurdle to release was that they couldn't decide how to monetize it. That was the part of hte game that was unfinished. The core of the game was living in a futuristic NY apartment as a relic diver, a person that enters dungeons inside historical artifacts to reclaim magical powers and items stored within their memories. The artifact would have a powerful event and emotion attached to them lore-wise and that would dictate what kind of dungeon the game generated, sand, water, fire, darkness, light, etc.... and enemy behavior and shit. They wanted to continue supporting the game after release, adding new tilesets, new artifacts, have events that would give unique armor sets, etc... but there was a lot back and forth between people that wanted to sell expansions with minor DLCs and people that wanted to make it season passes and live service MTX shit where you'd buy artifacts individually, decorations for your apartment etc....
Just realized this could have been the Dark and Darker before Escape from Tarkov.
they couldn't decide on how to monetize it so junked it
I like Capcom but man they blow sometimes
youtube.com
I literally bought a PS4 for this fucking thing. It still pisses me the fuck off.
It's not fair.............. I'm Deep Down's #1 fan... how could they do this to me?
I always thought the music sounded great too
I'm making a Deep Down like (really it's an og re4 like but medieval fantasy and with a spear instead of a gun)
I'm making a Deep Down like
Just make deep down and cash in on the retards' refusal to. They sure as fuck aren't doing shit with it. Their trademark is gonna end soon too. You can only renew a trademark five times before you need to provide proof that you have an intention to use it and since they're not making the game any more they won't be able to renew it again.
Just call it Down In The Deep or some shit
PS4 game announced in 2013
looks better than present day PS5 games
I like to make 3D graphics myself but it does seem that diminishing returns had hit its peak now, the PS5 has maybe only 3X the bandwidth and can maybe only do 2x the polygons. We're going to have PS4 graphics forever it seems.
There you go anon, I found you an artist for your poject.
Was meant for
I still think they canceled it because it because the game would be too similar to MHWorld and possibly split the community, so they decided to cancel the game.
I bought a ps2 for hand of odd, the oddworld game they canned and then released munches odyssee on xbox.
never forgave those niggers. learn your lesson now.
I don't think it had anything to do with the quality. I think it had everything to do with it competing with Capcom's own Monster Hunter and Dragon's Dogma. This isn't unfounded, Capcom has had a similar experience with fighting games cannibalizing each other. That's why a new Darkstalkers or Red Earth game doesn't get greenlit.
AI game development can't come soon enough.
I don't think it had anything to do with the quality.
It's not. It was about monetization, see
If they can't decide on an individual method, why not all of the above? Individual expansions for large blocs of content that can also be acquired temporarily or permanently through a subscription or battle pass system just like Paradox is doing today to /gsg/ niggers, and microtransactions where you buy bits & pieces out of the former parts or individual little things totally separate from them?
They were literally so Jewish that maximum Jewry levels weren't sheeny enough for them. How? Who is the nexus of this problem?
worried that game would be too appealing to established audience for [other title]
burn all the money invested and scrap it to theoretically sell marginally more of one game
instead of selling two whole games to the same audience that wants more of the same thing
and also capturing more new market share that wanted this specific flavor of the thing
corpos literally will not allow people to CONSOOM things worthy of the act even as it deliberately loses them money, the actual devil is behind all of it
So you think they canceled the game because it because it was too similar to MH and then they had to cancel it?
This game predates Destiny which standardized the live service genre, they just didn't have the live service model to copy. Even Destiny didn't launch as a live service game but as a live game, the precursor of live service which was just touted as a complete game with free limited time events. And then slippery slope and here we are today.
The game development predates 'turning players into payers.'
It may be hard to believe, but there was once a time in videogames when companies didn't know how to be greedy.
The core of the game was living in a futuristic NY apartment as a relic diver, a person that enters dungeons inside historical artifacts to reclaim magical powers and items stored within their memories.
This always sounded incredibly stupid.
Because you're an idiot.
Imagine scrapping a game that's 90% complete
So we're just making shit up now?
No, we're commenting on articles where the director commented on at the time. You have chat-gpt and you have google. It's not that fucking hard to see this shit for yourself instead of trying this trannoid gaslight shit. there's no 'we' it's us and your bitch ass wanting an argument where nobody else is having one.
use "game" in console reveal to push sales
turns out it was never a game, just an AV project
I'm still mad at these cunts. At least Microsoft and Platinum very obviously tried and failed with scalebound. These niggers don't appear to have ever intended to try.
implying this is real footage
it's a pre-rendered movie anon, probably not even shot in-engine.
Jesus , we've already been over this.
youtube.com
It's literally been playable by general public at TGS 2013.
it's just bloodborne chalice dungeons
unironically _____Kino______
It's bloodborne chalice dungeons if they actually contained unique rewards and proper dungeon variety.
The footage is pretty rare so I can't seem to find it, but they even showcased an "outdoor" dungeon at one point for Deep Down.
Not really? Having a cool social space you can show off your trophies and gear outside of dungeon diving is like a pretty common demand in games.
This game was one of my first steps to total crapcom hatred.
I wish you hadn't reminded me of this
I was happy in my bubble of forgetting
Capcom is just laughably retarded. This game probably would've filled the same niche that Bloodeborne would've if they'd not gone full pants-on-head retarded and cancelled it.
One of the reasons I bought a 3DS was for Megaman Legends 3. I was a kid so I had no experience with the past games on PS1. Legends 3 just looked amazing
Capcom could have competed with FROM
i wonder if they saw it as too close to DD, which is kinda funny
gameplay looked like shit
There's a reason why nobody liked the sci fi twist in the first ass creed games.
Because you're an idiot.
And that reason is imagination because most people had no problem with it until they lost track of where it was going by AC3.
And you can go lie to someone else about that shit because I didn't have a problem with nor do I personally know anyone that had a problem with it and I was a hardcore AC1 fanboy to the point I owed it on multiple platforms and was in pretty much every AC community at the time.
i cant remember anyone disliking the "twist". you sure you didnt just make that shit up anon?
Yeah, because people kept getting pulled into it at every story key point. Nobody hated the fact it was present day there, and if you're going to sit here and argue that a social hub is the same thing as a poor story pacing, you're fucking retarded.
He uses AI
Ah, yes. Hallucinated scizos.
Deep Down was never 90% complete. It was no Biohazard 1.5. Stop making shit up, if it was 90% complete with Ono was around it would've been finished.
Port all the assets and except for the combat itno DD2 and call it DD2 expansion. Done.
good, it looked like generic rollslop
AI is like a trigger word for you huh, disregard every other part of a sentence and fixate on this one word
This is also why I fucking hate most isekais, because nothing IMMEDIATELY pulls you out of a medium like showing modern shit mixed in with medieval.
One of the ONLY isekai that I can think of that pulled it off well was Army of Darkness.
>He uses AI
I told YOU to use it, retard. When mentioning AI triggers you so hard that you lose the ability to read, it's time to shut the fuck up and control your meltdown.
Personally I believe they cancelled it because while gameplay and environments looked and felt cool it was a truly rudderless experience and the "IRL/Isekai" element was something that didn't hold much water.
I think they had mock reviews that said "This is fun as hell but I got bored after an hour..."
Because you're an idiot.
Isn't Isekai but you go off queen.
army of darkness
isekai
because nothing IMMEDIATELY pulls you out of a medium like showing modern shit mixed in with medieval.
Which is why GATE is one of the most successful isekai Mangas around, huh retard?
But please, backpedal and make up on the spot criteria for why this doesn't count.
Why can't you faggots just say "I don't like it" why do you always have to try and sell this shit as common sense general consensus when it runs absolutely contrary to reality?
Stargate-sg1 but anime
Not an isekai.
genuine bot response from >709623089
love to see it sometimes
How is it not isekai
Comment on a game that isn't Isekai.
References a movie that isn't Isekai.
Ignores that it's actually the most successful Isekai genres.
Totally bro, but Army of Darkness is, right... Why don't you just kill yourself, genuine question. Literally your absolute mental derangement can be fixed with a single bullet through your brain for both you and everyone that would have to deal with you.
imagine seething this much because you are wrong and being called out on it
Still hoping the DD2 dlc that's totally happening will have a multiplayer BBI equivalent dungeon haha anyone got some spare copium??
Is Back to the Future isekai?
not enough incest to be a good isekai
No it’s just time travel, are you being retarded on purpose
And what is Army of Darkness?
Time travel
I hope that answers the question
How is it not isekai
Deep down? More like Deep Downsyndrome.
Yoshinori Ono is a fucking reject retard who should get lynched.
He ruined SF and ruined MH fuck that guy.
anon made it up. AC legit had a cool mcguffin before they milked it dry. no one complained back then.
