IT IS THE GREATEST GAME EVER... BECAUSE GAME MAGS TOLD ME SO, OK????

NOOOOOO YOU CAN'T SAY BREATH OF THE WILD IS BETTER KILL YOURSELF ZOOMER

WE MILLENNIAL CHADS REMAIN SUPREM-ACK!

It's complete shit but Anon Babble is full of millennials who think they're still 5 years old. Nostalgia is heeluva drug.

Who are you quoting

"I don't actually myself play a lot of other games," Fujibayashi explained through a translator. "I obviously am well versed in them, I know what's happening in them. But this ending up in this kind of bigger open world really started from the prototype stage where, just kind of naturally by virtue of what we wanted to do in this game, we started to realize that we absolutely do need this bigger open world in order to make the kind of game that we wanted."

"In the past I've also actually said that I have played Skyrim, so it's not necessarily that I don't play games," Aonuma stated. "But we don't look at it from, 'Oh, what kind of things can we take from this game?' It's more of like, 'How can we prepare for this? What should we expect from games like this?'"

story spaning multiple years with adult themes but still fantastical enough to also appeal to kids

12 dungeons each one with it's own assets and even their own music

combat isn't just button mashing but rewards knowing the enemy and how to beat them

many items to collect which they act as tools both for combat and exploration

useful collectibles that make exploration rewarding

minigames that not just work as fun distractions but also help to immerse the player into the world

large world to explore with many different places to visit and cultures to know

can talk to any and all NPCs and they all have something different to say

day-night that actually affects gameplay beyond changing enemy spawns

a harem of beautiful women which you can interact with both in their adult and loli form

not one but two faithful companions that will do anything for you

yes, best game ever

Peter Pan Syndrome: The game.

You probably lol

You're so quirky.

The lengths you have to go to nowadays to get a Zerudo thread going...

We've all been raised on video games to believe that Ocarina of Time is timeless and the greatest game ever made. But it isn't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.

i need someone to explain to me the randomizer

i never had an n64 (i went straight to PC gaming after my NES), I played oot for the first time last year.
no it's not the best game ever, but when thinking about how (console) games were before it came out, it's certainly a huge deal and very influential. definitely worth playing, and it could hold up reasonably well if it got a remake. the story, music, themes and characters are all really good. it's an incredible jump from LttP.
i played majora's mask for the first time this year and it's impressive how much better it is than oot. kind of a shame all the zelda games after that (until botw) are just copies of oot.

it's made for people who can do the whole thing with their eyes closed and want to freshen up their yearly playthrough.
you really need a tracker and a dynamic map to show you what's available with your current equipment.

you really need a tracker and a dynamic map to show you what's available with your current equipment.

Well that's fun.

it was very influential

how?

it just was, ok?

It was never the best game ever. But it's pretty good. Lovely dungeons.

IMG_0269.jpg - 1824x1368, 1.46M

ocarina of time has actual dungeons...

Harkinian tracks the items right?

you have to open all the chests

doesn't sound fun

it's either that or learn the game by heart by playing it 10 times a day like a speedrunner.

epic troll anon :^)

This game made millions of Millennials troon out. If only they had bought a PS1 with Gran Turismo instead...

total zoomer death, human race peaked at milenials

Gotta love Anon Babble zoomer revisionism. People love it because it was and still is an outstanding game. I had never even played a Zelda game when I got it for my birthday in 1998. I was also oblivious to the praise and hype it was getting at the time. I instantly fell in love with it and it’s still my favorite game of all time. Being born in 2004 does not qualify you to talk about a period of time you never lived through and have no idea about.

If videogames wants to grow as a medium it has to let go of “best of its day.” When people recommend old movies today, it’s because they actually were so good that they are still competitive even today. Ocarina of Time does not compete with games today

are you retarded? OOT invented 3rd person enemy targeting. It also created the blueprint for basically every modern 3rd person action-adventure and action RPGs. Dark Souls, Gothic, Witcher, etc wouldn't exist without OOT

More importantly, film critics don't recommend children's films as an example of the best the medium has to offer. Same with books.

OOT invented 3rd person enemy targeting

Not even among the first three games to use it.

but muh polish!

if polish is all that matters, as the usual OoTards cope says, then OoT has been outpolished by newer games and rendered useless.

KILL YOURSELF ZOOMER

You got that part right

I cannot think of a game i loved more than Ocarina of Time. Sure, there were other games that i enjoyed, but I felt like the dungeons, the atmosphere, everything in Oot was fine-tuned to be the perfect game.

expedition 33 clears all zeldas

In hindsight I would have preferred a playstation, yes. The 10 good games on n64 were really good but once you were done with them, all that was left to do was wish you had a playstation.

This

Speaking of movies, do you tell people that they are wrong for having a favorite movie that is different from yours? I don't know why Anon Babble does this with games...

normie garbage

UE5

Zoomers are the niggers of video games

Zelda games are the most normalfaggot games on existence, stupid cunt.

no you see, this series that sell gorillions every entry is antinormalfag, your niche indie game is the normalfag one!

picture a soijak next to that quote

BREATH OF THE WILD IS BETTER

No one actually thinks this, right? Not even nostalgiafagging.

Just like the world and the quests, characters, temples, the time gimmick vs what's in BotW

who asked?

No one actually thinks this, right? Not even nostalgiafagging.

it's common held belief among zoomers yes. It's not that different from boomers getting angry at millennials preferring OoT over 1 or ALttP. It's the inexorable passage of time.

another anti-OoT ragebait thread

i can't yawn hard enough

it's funny how people hold this game sacred and get unbearably angry if you dare say it's not the best shit ever

Getting rid of the unique IP counter was a worse mistake than removing dubs.

Yes it does

>combat isn't just button mashing

Stopped reading there

Didn't read the thread, I just want to say that I still have never beat the Iron Knuckles in a normal melee way, I bombchu spam them every time. That's all

Nintendo have been consistently making the best games in the world for 40 years straight.

How do we stop them?

Ignoring your faggy harem shit, pretty much this. It's not too long, not too short and has just the right amount of stuff to do.

1 is legendary but I'll slap any faggot who thinks it's better than OoT. Link to the Past has better controls and combat simply because third person 3D was so primitive back in the N64 days

it's funny how people hold this game sacred

Bing Bing's First Open-World Adventure Game (featuring Link from the Legend of Zelda), I swear that's it.

Nu-tendies funny. ALttP has yet to be dethroned

Ignoring your faggy harem shit

sure it's not the most important thing but even if oyu think it doesn't add anything, it doesn't take anything away either. I just like having endearing characters in the game that have some relation to the main character beyond being just another npc.

Actual Millennialchads prefer Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid, as indicated by their sales. Even if you were an N64 kid, GoldenEye shaped the generation more than Ocarina. OoT shilling is pure decades old astroturfing at this point.

OOT invented 3rd person enemy targeting

Are you a certified retard?

OOT - classic mythological adventure, structured perfectly, with sights, sounds, and atmospheres that will stick with the player for life

BotW - good open world game that falls off pretty abruptly in the second half, and leaves you feeling like you never want to play it again

And I even more or less like BotW for what it is.

He's right. And this is where you chimp out and expose yourself as a retard who doesn't understand video games.

They haven't made a game of that quality since OoT.

i think breath of the wild was an amazing achievement pushing the limits on hardware beyond what people thought was possible, but it's hard to compare it to the leap that OoT had as being one of the first 3D adventure games.

Botw showed you can make vast worlds not just laterally but vertically as well. OoT though showed that 3D could open up a whole world of possibilities for combat and world exploration. to me, the latter was a far bigger impact. Granted, BoTW has left a huge impression in game design, where people copy its stylized approach heavily, but OoT had the same treatment done to it, and it's way more prevalent.

*Majora's Mask

This thread was made because another thread shat on BotW/TotK.

Nintendo manchildren think it's the best game ever because they played it when they were kids.

Apart from

Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
BotW and TotK

So many cases.

I said what I said. MM is just clunkier OoT with Aonuma's garbage progression.

I think Metal Slug 3 is the best game ever, but OOT is certainly up there (and better than whatever it is that you like)

There comes a time where you have to admit you are either willfully ignorant of this hobby or you're a mentally ill Nintendo hater. Probably both.

Ocarina invented lock-on

<No, Tomb Raider did it first, among other titles like MegaMan Legends, Virtual-On, Battle Angel Alita (PS1), etc...

But they don't count because they were niche, OoT popularized

<Tomb Raider sold 8 million copies, the same as Ocarina

But it doesn't count because OoT's is more polished

<But future titles are even more polished than OoT

But they don't count because OoT was first...

Ad fucking nauseam. And it's such a silly thing to cling, lock-on wasn't even widely adopted by the industry, it's an extremely niche mechanic only used by a few Japanese action games. Free aim is the standard.

i like to think as BOTW as the game that killed off the IP

no one cares, nerd

Nigga its not even the first on the gen. 3rd person enemy targetting had been a thing for almost two decades by then

But they don't count because they aren't named Zelda: Ocarina of Time and weren't developed by Nintendo

even phantom hourglass was better than botw lol

Why is it that fags here are too childish to realize that their favourie game doesn't have to be the best game?

cope

Fucking called it. I said you would expose yourself as a retard and you did.

In those games, the lock-on does NOTHING. It literally becomes an auto function.

In OoT, Z-targeting is where the gameplay BEGINS.

You don't understand the difference because you a fucking moron and you're too jealous of Nintendo to even educate yourself about gaming history.

Phantom Hourglass had a fun fishing minigame.

I thought we were OoTsnoys? We can't be Nintendo manchildren and snoys at the same time.

no you don't get it, it's totally different because Nintendo gave it a new name!

They made a religion out of their favorite game, and denying its sanctity is akin to heresy.

The greatest strength of this game is how it doesn't hold your hand or put stupid notification directives everywhere. The side quests are very good at connecting the world together and creating a feeling of adventure along with the dungeons. Yes yes, Navi but you can literally ignore her.

I feel like most people define 'best' as 'their favorite': I don't think 'best' is measured by any objective standard, at least colloquially

84041857_p0.jpg - 1000x1000, 350.9K

You don't play games and it shows. Also, take your meds

It's so good it hurts enough people that they need to create threads like this to bitch, moan and compare it to Ubitrash like BotW and TotK.

OoT stands the test of time cause it came at the twilight of 3D hitting mainstream audiences and it used the best setting and theme for that era. We were all kids when it came out and likely going into middle school soon, so the themes in the game matched the transition of us all soon maturing. Maybe a little too fast. But at least the game gave us an experience of adventuring and danger that all kids enjoy.

Despite our technology, I've not played a game that gave that experience other than Minecraft which came much later. I think game devs have forgotten what making a game is about.

If I keep calling them ubitrash, I win!

Cope, seethe and dilate. 30 plus million copies each. OoT will be forgotten once millennials die of blood clots.

Z-targeting; so groundbreaking Nintendo patented it.

Makes shitters seethe like fuck 30 years later.

put stupid notification directives everywhere

But nav-

you can literally ignore her.

Oh yeah, just press A a hundred times for five straight minutes every ten minutes of gameplay. Its a great game and I agree with your other points but it literally created obnoxious notifications on vidya

"gentleman, another game is threatening the hegemony of zelda OOT in the metacritics. you know what you must do. even create a new review website if needed. we cannot let another game take it's place, even if it's a nintendo game, even if it's a zelda game. OOT must stay on top."

maskmen.jpg - 556x371, 28.76K

We were all kids when it came out and likely going into middle school soon, so the themes in the game matched the transition of us all soon maturing.

And this is why people shouldn't call it the best game ever. Stuff you experience as a kid might be personal, but those aren't best conditions to judge quality. The same reason you don't hail The Lion King as the best film ever or the Harry Potter books as the best literature ever.

Nintendo even patents bullshit several decades later to fuck up with competing games that threaten its hegemony. As if that matters lol

Ackshually Tony hawke pro skater 2 is what’s called the best game of all time by “journalists.”

The difference is that the game resonated with all ages. For kids, we were being shown what it was like to grow up. For adults, it shows them what being a kid use to be and what happened becoming an adult after the time skip. The fact even the older people rated it so highly shows that OoT worked.

BUT THE PATENT MEANS THEY INVENTED IT!

You're unironically a midwit. Nintendo can also patent tire degradation mechanics in games for the next Mario Kart and you troons will claim they invented it.

I don't think thats necessarily true, a lot of people will admit they're fond of somethung from when they were a kid even admitting it's flaws.

BUT THE PATENT MEANS THEY INVENTED IT!

Legally, yes.

thats nice, botw didn't have a fun anything

Goodest of goys

Twilight princess has better dungeons. Windwaker has the better atmosphere and exploration. Majora has the better...quests, I guess. Squidward sword has the best combat. But Ocarina is the one with the least amount of "yknow, I think our playerbase are 7 year old children, we should hold their hand every step of the way" bullshit

shieldsurfing

But Ocarina is the one with the least amount of "yknow, I think our playerbase are 7 year old children, we should hold their hand every step of the way" bullshit

Ah yes, Ocarina the first Zelda ever.

I'd definitely put it above any of the games that came out before it. LttP is the closest contender but its 4 way combat is infuriating

OoT is absolutely not the kind of thing that's "just enjoyable because you were a kid", in contrast to Harry Potter or The Lion King which are much more directed for certain age groups (like, adults can certainly enjoy them, but it would be weird for either to be your outright favorite for life). I could understand feeling like this for something like, say, Chrono Trigger, but OoT really offers a supreme level of quality of experience for a video game, most other games don't even attempt to approach what it does, and even the next best games just feel limited or less well crafted compared to it. There's no "mature, more sophisticated game for serious game appreciators" that bests the N64 Zeldas at what they actually pull off, they are working on a level beyond anything else.

patents are an important element in encouraging innovation

oh lawl

Are you retarded? Serious question.

Good goy. Shalom!

Yes they are. They prevent cheap knock-offs and oversaturation like the Chinese have been doing.

medallion as an item

we were robed

Well said. I've never played nor heard of any adventure games that have the scope nor perfect archetypal construction the n64 zeldas have. Despite some nitpicky flaws, the games just feel so right.

They still exist technically. Nayru's is the repurposed Shadow Medallion spell, Farore's is the Wind Medallion spell, and Din's is the Fire Medallion spell.

And thats how we know you are a 30 to 50 yo manchild burgerlander. Patent means you hold the rights, not that you created it. And inb4 you say some stupid shit again, yeah, thats legally different

i'm sorry to hear that you got filtered
i wish you the best

Arguing semantics is brainlet behavior.

hey it's the master sword

strongest sword in the game!!

the sword that seal away ebil!!!

swing, swing, swing

breaks

Great game ya got there

it's the greatest game ever because i said so and it was told to me in a dream and i saw it in a vision. also because it's the best randomizer game.

what does this comment mean?

OoT has near perfect pacing, it's amazing how few games get that right. It also manages to be somewhat nonlinear without falling into the traps that open world games do. If you just updated the few clunky mechanics like the camera control, jumping, and the horse (basically throw in BotW's movement and camera without the climbing) and the game is still amazing even today.

It's among the most important 3D games ever made for what it helped to standardize in the infancy of the tech, especially in terms of action mechanics and exploratory nature, but by that metric it's still in the shadows of stuff like Doom and Super Mario 64 which were earth-shattering game changers at the roots. OoT is very good and it did matter but #1? Top 10, sure, but #1?

It's the best game of all time and your attempted revisionism will not change that. Get over it.
