Are you an "originals only" purist or do you play fan mods/enhancements/remasters?
Are you an "originals only" purist or do you play fan mods/enhancements/remasters?
not playing until oot is finished
i play it on the original console in the original language. any other way of consuming the media is invalid. translations lose the soul of the words and playing on anything other than the intended console and CRT is not what the visionary developer created it for. doubt any of you clowns will agree with that, but it is what it is. casuals cant be bothered to put any amount of efforts into doing it right
I don't care much for changing graphics but the I always believe gameplay can be improved. "Gameplay Overhaul" mods are my lifeblood especially for JRPG's. I will often use them on my first playthrough. That's how I played FF4-6. Hardtype for Nocturne, One Vision for Tactics Ogre, ect. Japs can't balance for shit so I place my faith in "JRPGmcgamer1991" for my balanced gameplay.
If you didn't play it in Japan on launch day, you didn't beat it.
high chance this isn't bait and you're really huffing your own farts over this so just keep in mind we are laughing at you
Who the fuck are you to say what the developers intended? Did you interview them?
as i said, you clowns wouldnt get it, and thats fine. some people just dont have the dedication and that strive in life to achieve what they desire, so they instead just choose the pull others down.
You didn't beat it.
I play how I wanna play. If I'm gonna mod my first run, so be it. If I play entirely vanilla, I see what it's about. Who cares how I play a singleplayer game on my own free time? Nowadays I'm all about QoL shit though if I know I'm in for a rough time with a vanilla experience.
playing the game after 2006
you didnt beat the game
I'm not going to mod it before I try the original. I don't think I'll appreciate changes before then.
how the fuck do you beat this game it resets the second you make any progress
I'm so tired of this retarded ass board.
maybe get a life then casual faggot, we all know that's not happening tho
The recomp is infinitely better than the original if only for the fact that it allows you to have the 3 transformation masks + ocarina on the d-pad, freeing up the C buttons for everything else
indian mindset
Both.
purist most of the time, although I'm fine with some romhacks that fix problems or whatever.
The enemy randomizer is the best mod. I can't imagine ever playing without it.
Just pray you don't have to go into the Deku Tree first. That place is a death trap with randomized enemies.
Depends on the game. The fixed version of SH4 on PC is definitely a better experience than emulating the PS2 version. The PS2 version could only have some superiority if you were basically larping and playing on OG hardware, on a CRT and pretending like the modern internet doesn't exist.

Pretentious autistic tryhard larper. Not even dignifying this post with a (You).
fan mods/enhancements/remasters
Only if it's to restore things broken by a remaster, like the textures in SADX. Other than that, original only baybeeee
this anon would play system shock 1 without mouselook
i'll use better performance/graphics stuff, bugfixes, and cut content restoration
when it gets into rebalancing every skill and enemy, changing mechanics, and basically becoming a different game, then its not for me
Game looks best on original hardware
Emulation is (and should be free) for children
I get it, anon.
Let's see your collection of physical games.
I huff my own farts and as such I refuse to emulate anything even if the game runs like steaming dogshit on the original hardware
is the recompile considered a remaster? whatever it is, that's what i'd like to see more of in the emulation/port scene.
no nonsense plug and play, works and looks great on a modern 4k oled tv, and overall just a good modern experience of a game decades old.
I can't play it anymore since playing the oot/mm cross game randomizer. That shit is so good going back to normal is boring.
Mario Party 4 decompiled, imagine wind waker decompiled uffff, can't wait bros
Do you play Doom on an old Gateway from the 90s?
I generally prefer to just play the normal game but if I don't have like an original copy, like I can't afford it or acquire it, then I don't mind an imperfect emulation or something. I don't really bother with mods or anything, it depends. If it's built in the settings I might mess around with it but I'm often to lazy to look up external mods.
Just when I thought online Kirby Air Ride would be legendary, they announce a sequel.
What do they normally do, make it easier or harder? I'm picturing less encounters with more exp?
I don’t see a problem with smoothening the experience for a modern audience (yourself), like playing daggerfall unity with mouselook instead of the more archaic controls it used to have. And if it fixes bugs like morrowinds pickpocket feature being basically broken to aim for a more polished experience
is the recompile considered a remaster?
not really, no, it's literally just taking the original game code and recompiling it to run on a different processor / GPU
nothing is really changed other than the resolution and some minor QoL stuff
decomp teams are often different than from ports as ports still take time and require different skillsets
wiseguy wanted to perfect the tool first rather than make a bunch of half-assed ports
glad nerrel said it, you fuckers are so dense only caring for the end product and not the work
OG console, OG software, CRT TV.
Prefer original versions emulated in higher res, unless there's a directors cut or enhanced version made/approved by the same director and team.
Remasters (most of the time) are pure slop made by third party randoms that had no input on the original and suck ass.
Now when you say "you fuckers", who exactly are you referring to?
the fags that were complaining about how they were "mislead" because we aren't drowning in ports
translations lose the soul of the words
kantopia.wordpress.com
I think that comes from a general lack of understanding on what exactly the difference is between a decomp and a recomp.
Anyways, most of the games games that are fully decompiled already are actually pretty much fully playable, but the QOL stuff like widescreen and all that is just taking more time to bake in the oven.
