Is the xbox handheld dead?
Is the xbox handheld dead?
Depends on if the Xbox handheld is sold in stores like Walmart.
Yes, it’s a fucking terrible idea. They’re assuming the switch was successful because it’s a handheld, not because it’s the only legit way to play nintendo games. I guess if they spend nothing slapping a name and OS on an already existing pc handheld they’ll sell a few
nope
-posted this from an xbox
Xbox handheld
That can't play Xbox games from your xbox library
There's not much point to an Xbox handheld when every Xbox game is on PC and any of the existing handhelds can play them
Retarded tendie thinks Microsoft gives a shit about handheld sales. The move is to block linux from gaining enough momentum to overthrow windows.
How would an xbox console be any different than all of the shitty Asus and MSI Steamdeck clones that barely sell any units?
To be fair, ngage was aiming a different market. Steamdeck is mostly for people that already got a pc
having a melty because of the knife thread
grim

Just do nothing then? Linux will shit the bed by itself, no need for Microsoft to let their jeets shit themselves just because they saw someone else shitting on their designated shitting street.
unless Microsoft want to subsidize this to bring the price down its just going to be another ROG Ally competitor. Microsoft just raised the price on everything so yea this thing is going to be expensive and DOA.
I wish Microsoft was dumb enough to do nothing, windows needs to die.
Doing nothing is a high IQ move though.
Windows is literally, unironically, undeniably, too big to fail.
No it isnt, standing still in the the tech industry means immediate death
Exactly the same has been said about every single tech giant in the last 40+ years and they all fell in time. Not even google will survive the switch to AI search. There's only 1 constant, open source software outcompetes closed source shit once they hit critical mass.
Handhelds without physical media are no fun. Also Linux blows so it's no wonder the Steam Deck flopped.
This, if you aren't Nintendo then making a handheld device is just a tech suicide.
Handhelds are fucking terrible with physical media, having to carry cartridges with a portable system makes no sense.
Retarded steamie. No wonder you own none of your games and your gabeboy flopped harder than your mom.
tendies really are just like funkopops collectors
stupid monkey collecting plastic shit.
Being handheld is my only criteria for buying a gaming machine. I refuse to ever be tethered to a tv or computer screen for gaming ever again.
Handhelds are fucking terrible with physical media
They're essential to the experience. It just werks, no need to navigate gay menus and download games in advance you just plug the physical media into it and play your game.
Do you bring your gay fanny pack with you with your 30 games when you go in holiday?
Holidays are gay too.
I installed windows on my steamdeck and its pretty awkward to use. Even SteamOS' Desktop mode doesn't feel good. Good luck Microsoft on developing a user friendly pocket PC.
Steamdecks are only sold in their page. Xboxes are sold in every store so they'll at least reach a larger audience.
The steamdeck won
I doubt they'll make it a proper pc, it'll just be a portable xbox
Making a handheld has always been a losing proposition. What can Microsoft and Sony realistically do? They have no real value proposition. They can copy the Switch concept and invite mockery, hatred, and even cannibalize the sales of their own main console, or it can be a handheld that costs just as much as the Switch 2, while having less features and flexibility, and no strong first party games like Nintendo. And last generation games (as rumored for Sony), lest you stream it from the cloud (lol). Face it, it's a losing proposition to even try, unless they have the guts to brazenly copy Nintendo's Switch concept and improve on it. But they don't have the guts.
Even SteamOS' Desktop mode doesn't feel good
I have absolutely zero issues using desktop mode on my deck and I'm a consolefag. I don't understand people that cry about linux either, it's easy as hell to use and I've encountered no issues whatsoever. Though I prefer to hook up my deck to the tv and use keyboard/mouse in desktop mode because it just feels better
Pretty much this.
Steam Deck has sold pretty well compared to other handhelds but it's not available anywhere anyone who isn't knowledge about vidya is gonna see it plus xbox has brand recognition.
But literally no one bought an n-gage
Microsoft could easily stonewall Linux but doesn't give a shit about doing it. All their games work perfectly on Linux and they don't do any weird shit to block compatibility.
Microsoft legitimately doesn't port Office or Game Pass app to Linux just because it's too small.
Windows cannot fail no matter what MS does because half or more governments and companies in the world rely on it with zero intention of migrating anywhere else. Fucking cutting edge TSMC fabs run their software on some ancient unsupported Windows version because it just werks and that's the only thing they care about!

Like who?

Two more weeks
It depends on hardware and OS version.
Steam and games run in gamescope session but desktop is running in X or Wayland (I don't remember what KDE version steamOS is using). This means that people with HDR displays will have issues (before Plasma 6), there might be tearing or buggy VRR behavior etc depending on GPU vendor and drivers.
You as a consolefag also have much higher tolerance to shitty experiences like unplayable sub 30fps so you wouldn't notice anything wrong even if it was happening.
Also, Plasma 6 has an unfixed bug (check issue tracker) where framerate drops with VRR enabled which can cause flicker on some displays especially OLED.

Literally never happened. More giants were split by antitrust than went under.
Nooo you don't understand I have insider info about trillion dollar companies but I just choose to do nothing with it and continue being an incel neet two more weeks chuds!
You have no idea how stupid you sound.
Good morning saar
