From gameplay point of view, it doesn't make sense

3 members party

Every RPG ever on the planet that uses preset team system (can't swap reserve members in and out mid combat) set it up so you have enough members for full Team A and Team B

So you should have 6 members

This game gives you 5 members

Picrel should have come back after story ended as a bonus or whatever

gustavy.png - 1200x675, 392.58K

They should've just brought him back after Act 2
I also find it annoying that if you're running one character solo as your main party and they die, the three that come out as the reserves are chosen randomly, like why? And why is it a game over if you still have one party member left after that? Just let me choose who comes out next, let me send all five out one by one if I want
It's also annoying that non-party members get less exp so you end up with uneven levels which frustrates my autism

Should have never have killed in the first place.

Verso lets Gustave dies

steals his spot

steals his weapons

his pictos

even his lumina

steals his girls

steals his sister

Almost sounds like a joke, but this actually happens in the game. It's ridiculous.

We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children

what did Gustave mean by that?

non-party members get less exp

That's how classic jrpg works anon.

Haven't felt a char death that hard since aerith in ff7. Him staying dead was a good thing

Every RPG ever on the planet that uses preset team system (can't swap reserve members in and out mid combat) set it up so you have enough members for full Team A and Team B

You could just say E33 is your first JRPG, lil' bro. Half the Tales games have six party members with four active in battle.

Who cares about that, why can't you swap in reserves? I hate this shit

it's cooler if "the last stand of expedition 33" is an uphill battle

There is a reason that fell out of practice, it just makes it harder to experiment for no reason

you sure are reaching real hard to find reasons the gameplay is bad, why is that?

He will be in the DLC to give Verso and Maelle the third choice.

I don't see how. They went fucking scorched earth on the setting. Even Painted Alicia, that wrote that letter, was sent right away to the shadow realm.

Gustave is coming back in the DLC and sentencing that nigger Verso to eternal torture. Believe it

IMG_7127.jpg - 600x600, 35.94K

Paintlets are not human and don't deserve anything.

I think it is possible for Canvas to exist without the Painter's involvement through Lumina Converter.

I legitimately think the initial plan was not to kill him off. the entire rest feels like it was written with him in mind. it also makes much of the prologue with Sophie, emma, his arm, the kids etc.. feel pointless. why spend so much time laying the groundwork for plot elements that will just be unceremoniously abandoned?

So why have us interact with them for 30 or so hours? Also they are sentient and real beings, sorry your versonybro brain could not keep

What does the Lumina Converter have to do it with it?

don't forget makes them game all about shitting on Gustave's dream because now the game is about Lumiere needs to be destroyed so some schizo family can be happy. Honestly some of the worst storytelling I've ever seen.

Unironically they might’ve thought that wasting the player’s time like that would’ve been subversive and that people would have their minds blown. In reality it’s a massive blue balling and waste of great world building.

Gustave simps are so retarded, dramatic and annoying

are so retarded, dramatic and annoying

That's all E33 simps

Collects paint from living things. Paint is essentially mana and he would’ve become godlike like the painters with enough of it. It would have been a cool underdog story from total despair

Gustave shouldn't have existed in the first place. He gets so little actual game time and development it's hilarious. I get his death wasn't meant to impact the player so much as it was maelle and the overall story but making him the player character was just a stupid gay modern jew trope that unironically needs to go.

You disgust me, you will be among the first ones to give robots rights just because "their feelings are real."
Also, it was only like 10 hours, and in those 10 hours he got not a single bit of character growth.

Honestly, Lucien should've been playable.

May the omnissiah brick your pc and empty your bank account

Le magic carbon

Silicon no-no make brain because then I less special :-(

Lol Versotards are all sub-80 IQ tards hahahaha

That works too. Should have been all Maelle or all Verso.

Sure, either follow through on Lumiere or go full Dessendre from the start. The mix is just unsatisfying.

Good luck dealing with your washing machine suing you for discrimination just because you wanted to wash your clothes.

Yeah I'm not sure why people make such a big deal about his death. As asmongold said a couple of days ago, Gustave just got reskinned.
It also didn't help that his kit wasn't complete, it was a dead giveaway that he was either going to die or evolve, if they had given him a strong complete kit, which in turn would've made him a strong staple in your comp beforehand then at least mechanically wise his loss would've been felt. It might've pissed off people who were planning his build but it would've had more impact imo.

It's so that you always feel the hole that Gustave left behind.

>steals his spot

>steals his weapons

>his pictos

>even his lumina

I'm sure it would feel way better if all your ressource investment into Gustave was wasted.

This is the only non shill thread. Can we please get the schitzo to stop spamming here?

He is ruining the games perception.

now the game is about Lumiere needs to be destroyed

That's a choice you made for yourself. A retarded one.

They would have made me feel losing him much more if at any point when you had him he wasn't completely useless, dude did jack shit until he could overcharge

Idiot.

modern game design is so much better

Okay, anon. You have fun with your modern design patterns.

you don't understand there is just no way that I could swap characters when they have 6 stats and 2 lumina points less

You fucking monkey.

Versohomos only like the most egotistical hypocritical slimy snake in the game because he's "based" or because they want to signal that they "got" the game's hamfisted message.

Nah I picked Verso's ending precisely because I care about Alicia's well-being. Verso is fucking dead anon.

You can reunite him with Sophie, Emma, his apprentices etc. at the end. Gustave dying was part of Verso's plan to wipe out all the people in the Canvas. It's not like this was some random thing.

The real Lumiere is destroyed regardless. The only choice is whether you want to leave it destroyed or live in Maelle's plagiarized abomination.

Picrel should have come back after story ended as a bonus or whatever

He does if you pick the bad ending. Alicia does what she wants because she's God and paintings don't matter.

Some directors cut of the game where it's maelle from the start and her tagging along with gustave so it's still the same intro just from her perspective, then after the landing switch to gustave until you meet up with maelle again would work. I think his death would have had more impact if he was portrayed as a close ally rather than the player.

the bad ending

I picked it because i'm a dad and can relate with Renoir, naturally appeasing the whims of retarded children (specifically women) doesn't resonate with me, but i'm glad it does for you

Yes, the objectively and undeniable bad ending.

I had the same exact thoughts. Aliciafags are either children or have really bad relationships with their families.

what i hate the most is how passive Lune and Schiel at the end? like why aren't they saying anything when their whole reality just got shattered and these people are about to fucking end their world? don't just stand there! be more mad about it

Yeah I'm not sure why people make such a big deal about his death.

It's an RPG thing. The protag often serves as a self-insert for the player. A lot of people take issue with this, but it is how it works.

a woman wrote this no wonder a man is such a easily disposable and replaceable in this universe

As asmongold said

lol
lmao

This. Reiner made the best choise and clea was the best child a parent could ask for

we need a gustave dlc

Sciel was dead inside ever since her husband and unborn child died, so she doesn't care.
Lune knows there's nothing she can do to stop any of it so she just shuts down like Alicia after the fire.

As asmongold said

What would that even have in it? its not like they go to war or have previous expedition experience before they head off

This why gustave should've lived

As asmongold said a couple of days ago

Both endings are good and bad, as is the point of the game.

Lune sitting and seething is about the most any Lumieran could really do, I did wish Sciel would at least slap or punch Verso in the end before disappearing as a contrast to the Esquie and Monoco’s acceptance

There's nothing good about Maelle's ending, unless you count the quick fix she gets as "good".

I played with monoco and verso exclusively, both wearing their suits, keep those fucking whores out of my party

Monoco is the family dog and Esquie is Verso's toy, they will accept whatever he decides.

This, Gustavé only died because the writters were put against the wall, he asks too many questions, Lune is supposed to be inquisitive about the world but she is too austitic to care about Verso, with Gustavé around no way the group would continue with Verso after Old Lumiere with Gustavé around, he was not trustworthy, and its interesting, because Gustavé being "against" verso in the team could make the dialogue better in act 2 and 3 (that takes a nose dive in quality/) and would make Verso fear of sharing more realistic.

Wanting to music but forced to paint

Wanting to dead but forced to piano

being Varso is pain

The developers of the game disagree with you.
Stop flanderizing the game so hard.

Ah yes, being forced to live an existence against your wishes and being a puppet of a god is what I'd call a good ending.

No shit that ending is bad for Verso, it's good for the Lumierians that will get to live.
Both endings are a matter of perspective.

The developers of the game disagree with you.

Which is why they made sure to show how much Verso loved being sentenced to the piano mines. The good ending doesn't show Alicia as tormented, therefore it's the better ending.

If anything I'll say they made her ending epilogue a bit too on the nose making it too obvious that it's the bad one
They are just as puppets as Verso. And they are completely at Alicia's mercy, they'll join his suicidal wishes once she goes full Aline on them. Renoir was right.

Yeah, I get that, I just wish there is more than Lune giving stinkeye to emphasize the point that yes, you just doomed an entire world with your choice

But the girls already lost their relevance in act 2 anyway. I kinda wish they just went full on BoF4 with Verso partying up with Monoco and Esquie against the girls for the final confrontation thougg

it's good for the Lumierians that will get to live

renoire reenters the canvas after a nights rest

nothing personnel

the Lumierians that will get to live

The paintings that aren't real?

good for the lumieran

I’m sure Renoir would keep the painting around once Alicia dies in it

kek. imagine renoire enter with a belt this time to whoop Alicia's bratty ass

They get to live for another 30 or 40 years before Alicia dies and Renoir finally destroys the canvas.

What’s the benefit exactly? Don’t just “muh modern game design”

gets to live 33 additional year for Alicia’s lifetime

What did we actually accomplish?

Kicking out the painters and sealing off the painting without ending their world. It’s a setting with arbitrary magic anyways, it can be made to work

It was a huge missed opportunity to not end Maelle's option with some sort of visual or audio cue that suggested another fracture caused by Renoir going back in since he knows Alicia was lying about being able to control her addiction, then cut to black

I’m forced to go work, Verso’s punishment is nothing

I actually like this argument a lot.

you're just ontologically fucked by being unlucky to exist in a fucked up world, and I'm going to destroy it anyway,, there'snothing you can do, so just cope and seethe and minimize the damage by getting my family out of here

It's at least more honest and tragic that the nuclear copium of "they are not real/they don't exist/there never was a trolley problem actually" like

oh ok I assumed you were talking about in a timeline where he died and you just wanted to see him train and date sophie and shit before hand

asmongold said

Look at me I'm one of those wow niggers who lives in their basement that follows a dirty roach infested faggots teachings because if he can make it by living in rst shit, so can I

Nah leaving it open-ended like that will lead people to think it might actually be valid as canon. Verso's ending is the one that paves the war to the painters vs. writers war in the sequel.

A bit too on the nose with it being an obvious bad ending if it’s done this way

I guess the real expedition 33 was the 33 years we spent in Lumiere

Gustave is literally just a plot device to put the player into the same mindset of the cycle of grief, this shit isn't complicated

If you get the send in reserve party popup then you've already lost and need to restart.

I was surprised there wasn't so much as an event for returning to his grave in Act 3. Even if nothing could be done at that time, I thought there'd at least be a scene with Maelle reminiscing or promising to come back for him after things were over.

they'll join his suicidal wishes once she goes full Aline on them

How? For Lumiere citizens everything is perfect in Maelle ending. they have a god protecting them, most of them can't grasp the limits of her power, Renoir is not in the canvas anymore to kill them year by year and now they can explore the entire canvas.
There's no reason for them to get depressed and suicidal with time, Maelle will learn to accept Verso's death with the time and even let him go eventually.

b-but she will die

Maelle is dead in the real world the moment that Aline and Renoir are dead, Clea hates her and will not take care of her, so she has probably 10 to 30 years in the real world and probably can live 100+ years in the canvas.

they're women
women love gustave

Every post I see talking about how it should have a sequel or a definitive / canon / happier ending proves without a doubt why the fuck this industry is so shit now. You faggots need everything neatly wrapped up and happy, and when something you like comes out, you want it milked endlessly instead of letting the developers move onto a new idea. The writers are just fucking set dressing for the conflict, jesus fuck.

100% this I finished the game with sciel and lune with like 12 lumina or however much they earned from lvling up on the bench, restarted every time my main team was defeated. But boy did it take a minute when they split the groups up for that quest

Maelle will learn to accept Verso's death with the time and even let him go eventually.

hahahaha

clea hates her

Play the fucking side quests, retard.

Clea hates her

How do you remember to breathe while being so stupid?

shut up bitch I will rape you

Anon, the devs already said they set up the writers for a sequel. Ignorant faggot.

Maelle will learn to accept Verso's death with the time

Like Aline was on track to do?

Source??

Steam reviews now at 94.82% positive

Overwhelmingly Positive by Sunday

sends her sister to death on the canvas

doesn't do shit when she gets stuck on the canvas

OH BUT IN THIS SIDEQUEST THERE'S TWO LINES OF DIALOGUE THAT SAYS THAT SHE ACTUALLY LOVES HER SISTER

Fucking retards.

Yeah, whether or not you wanna consider the Lumieran as real people, it doesn’t change the fact that Renoir destroying the painting will always be on the menu

self inserting chinks defeated

Nice

To be fair to them, Gustave still is literally me in my heart.

The 33 years countdown is still there, but it's invisible and without gommage

Kinda kino ngl

NTR

Like Aline was on track to do?

Actual retard, Aline was occupied with keeping the canvas alive, she had no time to cope with Verso's death thanks to Renoir stubbornness.

Death on the canvas

Wakes up completely fine upon 'dying'

So I guess Renoir didn't love Aline he actually wanted to murder her

Gustave just got reskinned.

What's the fun in playing these kind of games with such a cynic outlook? Yes, at the end of the day they're all just bytes in my HDD

She had time before Renoir jumped in to drag her back, it’s not like Renoir went to pull her out immediately after she created her fantasy Lumiere

They unironically think Verso fucking Ciel is NTR. Chinks are almost as obsessed with NTR as Americans

Literally P3 kill Ryoji ending kek

Verso lets Gustave dies

all according to keikaku

Really tried to like this game, but once the realisation sets in that the entire combat system is parry/dodge and the leveling up, stats and abilities are meaningless it just kind of loses its inspiration and edge.

Anyone with empathy will dislike the story because it ends in the genocide of millions of sentient beings with no option to help them.

he doesn't even know yet that Gustave is some girl's OC inside a fantasy world inside another fantasy world
the moment that dropped I just stopped caring about the story

That's objectively false, though. You'd be parrying hundreds of times per fight without a build

You can see his grave in the monolith

That's a choice you made for yourself.

No I picked Maelle's ending the game treats it as the bad ending is the point

You can empathize and feel bad and still enjoy the story, not everything needs a happy ending to be well written

I guess that's proof that the painted people don't count as sentient beings, then, since the chinks are second only to africans in lacking empathy

headcanon a retarded story

wow this story sucks

Filtered

you had him he wasn't completely useless,

Sounds like you just sucked

Just go to any weeb board (that is mostly used by chinks, jeets and spics) on this website and you will understand, they can't accept a female having more than one partner in the life, they actually believe if the woman has a second partner it's NTR shit, I'm not even joking, they are braindead.
They can't fathom Sciel having fun with Verso years after her husband was gommaged, they actually think that is some type of NTR.

Did you miss the part where Maelle asked if Verso could have saved Gustave, he said yes, and she didn't partciularily care even though it was her driving motivation for much of the game? By that point it doesn't matter

Gustav is objectively garb and only good as a powerful buff, early game is trivialized by lune immolating and maelle instantly flurring or percee

yeah that's why no one ever made stories like that

89764576.png - 791x325, 52.57K

I would if the entire premise wasn’t about saving Lumiere

I’ve been seeing HRPG with mom or sister getting fucked by someone and it being labeled as NTR

I’m no NTR enjoyer, but even I think that’s retarded

That's not the entire premise at all

That's literally what happens.

Except it is only a tragedy for the people of Lumiere who fought with everything they had to exist.
The whole family of demiurges gets everything they could have possibly wanted. No punishment for the extreme suffering they've caused, even Alicia can make any other canvas she wants and go torture new people there, the only thing we're supposed to care for is the "soul" of a dead boy because it's more valuable than an entire continent of people combined apparently.

It’s also bad because the stakes go from the entire world to one family. I witnessed several families being decimated in the prologue, why should I feel sympathy for an asshole family that gets near eternal life in any paradise of their choosing? The Dessendres suck ass, even lifting a finger to help them is insulting.

she didn't partciularily care even though it was her driving motivation for much of the game?

those motivations nerve existed, like anythign fro mact 1 and 2. She alwasy jsut wanted her cope dollhouse world

Yes it is. Go replay the prologue.

starts the game with the objective of defeating the Paintress, ending the Gommage and save Lumiere youth

the good ending is that everyone dies just because a retarded immortal wants to die

the bad ending is the one where you save everyone, extend the lifetime of the canvas for at least 100 years

they think is the bad ending because it's in black in white

Sub 100 IQ Anon Babble can't understand basic things about life.

the cynical outlook is that gustave was destined to die from the start because it's a jrpg and the mentor character always dies in jrpgs. all they did was frame the mentor as the main character to misdirect players from the fact maelle was the real main character. maelle was special from the moment she was in that mansion, that was the giveaway and the visions further reinforced it.

There is no fucking inception painted world inside painted world, Gustave was created by Aline like the rest of Lumieran, that’s it

Unless you’re being meta by referring to the chink actually writing the story, you’re being intellectually dishonest with that argument

Verso is the main character.

I feel like I’m going insane. Why is this game allowed to plagiarize FFX’s story + Music and Persona UI?
Because the devs are white?
They literally take entire melodies from Silent Hill 2 and FFX. There’s nothing original about this game at all.

noo I need to show that I have media literacy and actually the horrific erasure of thousands of families into oblivion just means overcoming addiction!

Err actually the music sounds sinister too, that way I know what to think

There is no fucking inception painted world inside painted world, Gustave was created by Aline like the rest of Lumieran, that’s it

Erm... So why Painted Alicia is able to rebirth Real Alicia as Maelle?

Painted world > The world where Dessendre's live > Our world
Gustave is an OC character inside a fantasy world inside a fantasy world

seek help

Yeah, because Renoir definitely wouldn’t fucking drag Alicia back by force or just destroy the canvas once Alicia’s human lifetime expires

The Lumieran got a raw deal, but that canvas is getting destroyed one way or the other

At minimum those evil demiurges need to suffer as much as possible.

What? Alicia is reborn as Maelle due to Aline’s chroma overcoming her when she entered the canvas

All I'm saying is that they fumbled his death and the impact it should've had.
I think his death would've had more impact if he had a fully fleshed out kit that was on the strong side. It would've made people more invested in him mechanically wise. Is that surface level? yes but so are most people so it would've worked, especially on someone as sociopathic as asmongold.

For me the main character is the family grief and its many faces.

Aline is to blame for it, she’s the one that created the Lumieran with the same level of sapience as their real counterpart

you're just jealous of him, aren't you?

Real nigga who wants to enjoy life and was already fucked over irl

vs

Fake sentient rogue AI who wants to ruin your life and send you back to torture

Play the piano, cuck. You are not real.

Anon, I don't think it's possible to enter paintings in a non fantasy world.

So are you just gonna shit on any fictional character because it’s imagined by the author? Or is that one additional layer really the dealbreaker?

I have no fucking idea what you’re arguing about at this point, so let’s just call it a draw

Or is that one additional layer really the dealbreaker?

this
those people aren't even treated as real inside their own fantasy universe, so why would I care about them?

Empathy is a therapeutic buzzword meant to make you support mass immigration and gay rights.

The fact that this is barely explained and the "Painted Alicia dungeon" is so badly handled makes me believe that they ran out of time, holy shit, Painted Alicia has the power to do shit like that but it's weaker than Verso somehow?

This game dropped the ball with everything that wasn't the pacing of the main story.
No optional Esquie boss fight makes no sense narratively. People spend half the game talking about how strong he is.

10 years ago I’d argue against pol brain, but obviously this is the hellscape that is our contemporary reality :/

For me it's the friends we made along the way

what? nigga there was a whole ass cut scene showing her being repainted and narration by Clea saying as much.

What happened to Aline in the Maelle ending? I assume she would just go back to the canvas. Are they going to share Verso? Aline on weekends and Alicia on weekdays? Will she paint a new Verso and now there exists two Versos in the canvas? Potentially 3 Alicias as well

You don't know what friendship is

that fell out of practice

Did it?

Can you teach me?

Pretty sure Renoir will chain Aline to the radiator and grape her for decades and decades

anon grieving over a character's death believes the game whose central story revolves around the acceptance and grieving over the death of someone close to you didn't plan to kill the superfluous but loveable MC nobody wanted to die

Picrel

What God awful 3rd rate language did you play in that his name went from Gustave to fucking Picrel?

making him the player character was just a stupid gay modern jew trope that unironically needs to go

Wall_VII_04.jpg - 1024x768, 139.09K

anon adds one letter to filename without thinking

insecure folk on Anon Babble have an aneurysm

please re-evaluate your life

So then Verso deserves nothing as well? He's more of a Paintlet than Gustav.
