Also, if they want to fix it, they have to ditch scheduled releases. They need to throw away the games as a service philosophy COMPLETELY. They need to make it a game built to last with a lot of CONTENT. They need to throw away the DLC character pack shit.
They need to do a full reboot, with things from MK1-Deception present therein, like the realms, characters, lore, etc, but have that world only be the framework of the stories to be developed. No more pure rehashing and "nostalgia" baiting. It needs to be fresh.
No more limiting the storytelling to cinematics divided by fights all pertaining to one or 2 characters for a specific consecutive chapter. That limits the storytelling, and also limits the scope of it, and the entire feel of it. Have there be a conquest mode, or perhaps have there be multiple angles for the story to be told from.
I'm sure that if they did this there would be a loud minority of probable homosexuals (not just saying that there's a massive homosexual MK fanbase) that will moan about it. They would not matter in the grand scheme, and MK has now built up at least 3 main different fanbases, one that liked the pre-NRS era, one that formed around MK9, and one that formed around nu-MK, MK11 in particular, that also likes nu-MK1.
All of these groups generally have different ideas of what MK should be. They cannot please all.
There's a hunger for something different anyways, something that isn't soft reboots over and over again with marvel capeshit story structure.
In that situation I think the best decisions to be made, at least broadly, are obvious. They can't sustain MK as it is and it's become stale.

insider here. Ash was 100% planned for the game. The issue was with the borrowed time of rights and whether or not Universal owned the rights at the time. The time to settle it would've flew by the development window and release time. It was a colossal fuck up by the WB legal department which in hindsight.. could've fixed Ash vs The Evil Dead if they just played it out in court. Neither Bruce or Sam have really anything to do with Evil Dead anymore; I wouldn't put any blame on them. It's more based on production and distribution studios of the 80s and early 90s. Side note: The team wanted to use the AOD look and moveset, not Evil Dead 2 or AvTED.
