My favorite versions are the original PC88 and the SFC versions, actually, they have much smoother controls and the jumping physics is a lot less jank. I'll concede that the Sega CD version has some notable design issues that get overlooked due to the visuals, cutscenes and dialogue and the western release had its own share of notable problems. That said you just seem really fucking buttdevastated about a relatively obscure 90s anime game for no particular reason so I don't have much confidence in having a discussion in good faith, so whatever, frankly.

Again, it varies between versions but Tatt's staves are useful in ways Mail's projectiles simply can't be used, from their trajectory to homing effects.

Gaw's vertical jump is extremely useful against various boss patterns, I'd say it's borderline impossible to beat certain bosses in the PC88 version without it, actually.

This could potentially work but you'd need to rework a few things, like how Hugo's gameplay is extremely lame.

Or any schmups with a spaceship really. There is a serious lack of spaceship dogfighter games.

Tales of Phantasia/ NDCross , Destiny 1 and 2, Eternia, and Rebirth.

Just having the projectiles be more satisfying to use would help a lot.
