It's 2025 and you still don't have a curved monitor

It's 2025 and you still don't have a curved monitor

He doesn't have an almost 360 degree monitor

if i ever want a curved monitor i just turn 360 degrees and walk away

we spent years trying to flatten screens

retards now want to unflatten them

Pay more for a worse monitor

After getting my first ultrawide curved monitor I don't want to go back to flat
you'd think that the curve makes it look warped but it's the opposite, the curve makes up for the distance around you, so it looks more consistent
when you get used to it and try a flat monitor again, you'll notice the sides of the screen are at a different distance than the middle so it looks bloated

Why the fuck does it need to be curved?

That's how I felt when I got my odyssey neo g9.
It has such a ridiculously strong curve that I always assumed that it can't look good and it had to be a major design flaw, but it actually made so much sense sitting on front of it.
Playing games on that thing is incredible (assuming they support the resolution and proper fov)

flat monitor

24 inch 1080p

it's gaming time

Basic geometry.
Because your head turns on a fixed axis. You don't move your entire body left to right when trying to look to your sides. A curved monitor makes it so that every part of the screen naturally has the same distance to your eyes.

Imagine gooning in there

Extremely based, and gpu efficient

Who is this shit even built for? A fucking rabbit?

KEKKKK

For what reason? Why do I want a distorted picture?

A gimmick for retards who have nothing going on in their lives except to flex a fucking monitor. A monitor lol. You can buy 3x regular monitors for the price of a tiny curved one. Hopelessly retardarded our society has become.

I tried a curved monitor and it was pretty nice, but ultimately I went with a larger OLED display instead
one day, I will have a giant curved OLED and it's gonna be sick nasty and wicked hot

that retarded art display, its controller under the monitor and the flashing keyboard is more retarded than him breaking the monitor
how and the fuck are you supposed to focus on anything with that shit flashing in your periphery
certified casual gamer

Imagine intentionally breaking expensive toys on camera for a living
Something something capitalism, industrial revolution

I don't want to go back to a distorted image. Monitor shopping sucks these days because curved garbage has flooded the market.

The reality is that this is a very small difference.

I use a 43" monitor at 2.5 feet away. In terms of difference, that puts me 30" away at the center, 33.5" at the edge, which equates to the difference between 60 PPD in the center (ideal) and 69 PPD at the edge (slightly better than ideal).

When you move up to an 85"+ screen, sure, the difference becomes more significant. At 2 feet, you go from 67 PPD in the center to 96 PPD at the edges. But nobody fucking uses an 85" display.

A bigger issue is just the curve itself. It changes the use situation of the monitor drastically, you are forced to keep an accurate head position. With a large format flat display, I can physically move my body more to one side or the other if I'm doing 1080p stuff. This is more comfortable than turning your neck for a long period of time. And not all curves are made equal, and it can be hard to find the ideal curve for a standard monitor viewing distance. I think the most common sizes right now are dogshit, I think a monitor radius should be sub 800 but I haven't bothered with the calculation because it's worthless for modern monitor sizes, and should only start being an issue in a decade when 8k is possible.

My previous monitor was curved. I have an educated opinion on the matter: it sucks dick.

Zoomers need constant stimulation in their lives, their brains are so fried that simply having a few minutes to themselves is terrifying

Their brains are literally fucked. They're taking pills for 5 different things, using youtube videos to go to sleep (how that works I don't fucking know, again, they're scared of being alone with their own thoughts)

90% of people who shit on them have never fucking used them, but it definitely does have the drawback of being having a much more restrictive viewing position. If you can't view it from the right position for the size, it becomes shitty. For the cost increase, it's worth is also dubious, usually you can upgrade some more meaningful aspect of your display instead for probably less price.
But assuming cost and positioning isn't an issue I definitely think it adds to the experience, it legit feels more natural and immersive having the display naturally curve to your view, especially in first person games. Going back to a flat screen felt awkward afterwards, you can very much feel how far away the edges become and how it doesn't feel right and reminds you that you're looking at a display.

It's 2025 and you still don't have more money than sense

it looks bloated

thats just your brain overcompensating for being used to the curved screen

a curved screen is so you don't physically wear out your eyes
but why would people on a videogame forum know that

Going back to a flat screen felt awkward afterwards, you can very much feel how far away the edges become and how it doesn't feel right and reminds you that you're looking at a display

This happens because your mind is used to flattening out the image so it looks normal. A similar effect can also happen with a flat display if you consistently view it from an angle. Over time, viewing the screen from the front will start to look "off".

After getting my first ultrawide curved monitor I don't want to go back to flat

it's the same dilemma when you get a 38-42" tv/monitor, especially oled stuff
I just can't go back to a screen below that, everything feels tiny as fuck

I just gave a 32" 4k oled monitor and a 32" 4k ultrasharp for my productivity tasks.

I've only recently got myself a 22" monitor, the biggest I've ever had.
It's so big, I have a hard time getting used to it.

Okay, and?
We don't curve books and paper to make each part of it the same distance from our eyes.
People don't make curved paintings.
We perceive geometry completely fine on a flat surface.
Straight lines look straight, like they should. Curved lines look curved. 3d visuals are designed around being projected onto a flat surface too.
Once you curve everything from its intended viewing experience, everything is distorted.

You're a retard to the point where your absurd comparisons with make absolutely no sense whatsoever and are pretty likely just bait. So here's your (You)

It's crazy that we spent almost 2 decades stagnating at 1080p before large format displays were finally viable with 4k. Even then, modern games are so poorly coded that you can't even run them at 4k.

Thank god they're not worth playing, and you can run Thief at 4k on a toaster anyway because devs used to be able to code.

I had the choice but I just don't see the point. Seems like a cheap gimmick that doesn't actually improve visual clarity.

He's right though.

what if you only have one eye in the middle? you're the apex?

It doesn't. It's just another useless feature that the paid marketers on Anon Babble are trying to convince you to buy.

This would only work if you are sitting in the exact right spot at all times.

when you are serious gaming you should

Mfers talking as if your brain is retarded and doesn't knows how to compensate for shit

there are people who unironically still use right and even have the audacity top defend it lmao

sitting stiff as a stick for potential hours at a time

Holy neck pain

My monitor is technically curved but it is so subtle in person.

what game requires you to serious game without pause for hours? racing sim? even in that one you're locked on a racing chair and the setups are curved screens too or 3 flat screens that look really ugly

....if you walked 360 degrees you would be walking forward, not away. DUH!

I can absolutely see the appeal of an ultrawide curved for some games, but the drawbacks just doesn't seem remotely worth it

Now turn the light on

Based cancer poster

Imagine being so assblasted by basic bitch reality that you come off as a humongous retard.
