Paper Mario TTYD64. The very hard difficulty is a bit tedious because it's basically just "Enemies have a shit ton of health and deal far too much damage, better learn to superguard FAGGOT" but finding new areas is cool.

I played Final Fantasy Legend III for Gameboy (yes I know it's technically called Saga 3 but fuck you I'm not a Jap). I haven't played it since I was like 5 or 6, whenever I got a Gameboy.

It's probably the nostalgia talking, but I had a surprising amount of fun with it. It's just a nice little "turn your brain off" RPG with a fairly decent length for a handheld game. Has a few difficulty spikes/required grind sessions, but I like that in an RPG. It's like I get to choose how hard I want the game to be. Equipment managing is annoying given the limitations of the platform, but with a few Gamefaqs guides I was able to manage. I liked finding a good balance of money spent vs. benefits gained from new equipment. The time traveling mechanics are really fun and feel neat, but it unfortunately gets abandoned halfway through the game. I didn't mess around with the monster/robot transformations because I never could find a combination that would give me more powerful options than just running two melees and two mages. I know you can break the game with robots and stat ups, but that's no fun to me.

Story-wise it's eh. There's a few really good moments here and there, but overall it's very limited and there's really not enough dialogue to flesh things out. Most NPC dialogue is "Ok, now go here and get this thing from this person" without much flavor text or personality. The concepts are cool though. A never ending flood of water, destined to sink the entire planet into its depths. It ties in really well with the time traveling and makes exploring the Overworld very fun.

Anyways, I give this a very very solid 7.5/10. Very glad I decided to revisit it.

I beat pikmin 4 with only red pikmin and oatchi to see if I could. You can beat the main game, but not the postgame.
