You. Bacta. Now.
You. Bacta. Now
i like that the funny shotgun that according to boss was a weird trando gimmick gun is now the de facto shotgun in every piece of star wars media. it's in battlefront 2, it's been in the TV shows, it's in fortnite now
It's too bad you couldn't give the surviving clonetroopers any kind of meaningful assistance and have them join you in clearing the trandoshans, as they were fodder that died instantly.
They even got mass graves
Did Republic Commando introduce the idea of the Commando Clone (The genetically doped ones with the proton pack and glowy visor)? Or was it some idea from an expanded universe book?
I'm not a Star Wars nerd but it's a fun class to play in Dice's BF2.
ohw ohw
this game was
GOOD
The Commando clone came from this game.
Before this there was the ARC trooper, which I think originally came from the Gennedy Tartakovsky Clone Wars movie, and I think they took inspiration from the ARC trooper to make the clone commando, but they're distinct things
The Commando clone came from this game.
That's cool. I hear it's one of the best Star Wars games ever, so I'd be glad to try it. Anything I should know about playing it on PC? Like does it work right in 2025?
I saw a few videos about Battlefront 2 being "populated again". Is it true or is it a psyop?
this is a 20 year old game
Super Mario Bros was a 20 year old game when this released
I can't speak for the old Battlefront 2 but the new one is experiencing a substantial spike on PC right now and I can't link it to anything but Fortnite.
Fix that stretched hud delta
There's as many years separating us from Red Dead Redemption than there is years separating Read dead Redemption and Warcraft 2
God that whole ghost ship mission was unreasonably kino. I love how you aren't the only active Delta, Fixer also managed to avoid capture.
It works ok on PC, but it has some problems without mods.
The mouse moves extremely fast in the main menus (although it's fine in-game), and there is no widescreen support.
There's something called the Republic Commando Fix which is supposed to care of both
I hear it's one of the best Star Wars games ever
I'd caution to temper your expectations. The game has a 10 hour campaign split into 3 big levels, and the final level is basically half-finished due to the game being rushed. So it's not perfect.
But the first two levels are pretty great, and it's definitely one of the better Star Wars games
youtu.be
It's a fairly generic 7th gen FPS with a very short campaign, amazing soundtrack and great writing (nothing deep, but each clone has a fun personality and the banter is nice to listen to).
Based on how often I get downed, I'm the worst member of Delta. Hard mode is no joke.
To be fair, bots have at least 4 times the durability you do, to prevent the game from being too frustrating.
I'll challenge the idea that it's generic.
There's nothing quite like it's squad command system, and it approaches some of the best atmosphere out of any shooters from the time period.
Plus I think it was 6th gen right?
Clone wars comes
They get a single cameo
Rebels comes
They become jobbers
One of my fondest memories of RepCom was the final minutes of the first campaign. You need to hack a minute long terminal while wave of bots are attacking. I assigned positions to my squaddies and decided to hack it myself. So for a minute I just watched a cool hand animation while a high pitched battle was happening around me. My brothers held the line and we all escaped together. Gameplay-wise, it was a really boring end fight; immersion-wise, I was fucking hooked.
immersion-wise, I was fucking hooked.
Yea the immersion factor is what really makes it. Really muddy boots-on-the-ground take on Star War. Love the oil that splatters on your visor when a droid explodes.
Why don't they make shooters like this one anymore? Something dark happeneded to the FPS genre but what exactly was it that damaged it so heavily?
The experimental phase for AAA shooters is over. Anything new that happens to the genre will be due to a trend set by smaller studios that can afford to flop (See: Battle royale, extraction shooters, looters, etc.)
From what i heard it was recently played by a big youtuber which might explain it to some degree.
Call of Duty 4 happened.
NTA but i would argue that the squad command system (or at least one very similar) also got used in Ranbow Six. Also the game was on the original Xbox which is 6th gen.

I'd argue more similar to Brothers in Arms than the console version of Rainbow Six 3.
Very very real talk
My guess is actual depression/mental health issues within the industry pushed devs to want to stop making these kinds of games about war.
Never played Brothers in Arms so i can't compare them which is why i went with something more familiar to me.
True there is the Rainbow 6 squad system.
But Republic Commando also has its atmosphere and its sci-fi setting going for it.
I still say it's a unique game compared to a lot on the market at the time.
"so anon, care to tell us what happened to delta squad?"
what a banger song
VOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
wow this game is great
get to Kashyyyk
wow this game sucks
Rebels comes
They become jobbers
In Bad Batch Scorch is literally the right hand man of one of the most important research scientists in the entire Empire, and reports directly to Palpatine.
And then he jobbed like a fucking retard. Didn't do shit in the entire show, other than standing around, silently and menacingly, only to be killed like a fucking idiot in the end. It was Scorch only in name. There was nothing of his personality, nothing that made him Scorch, and Delta Squad was not even mentioned. It is baffling that he was even in this show, when he could have been easily replaced with any generic trooper, and nothing would have changed. And all the commandos in Bad Batch were embarrassing, pathetic jobbers, about as skilled as regular stormtroopers, reduced to guard duty and escort. Bad Batch sucked so much, it's unreal. Clearly, Jennifer Corbett, who was the head-writer of the show, who had previously written for Star Wars: Resistance, did not know what the fuck she was doing.
I honestly think Far Cry 3 has been worse for FPS than CoD4. The Cowadooty formula really isn't as copied as you'd think it would be.
SEETHING
the bad batch is good btw

ok troon
RC was so good. I hope Disney never touches so we at least have something umolested.
