I think the main issue with the game is you outscale the enemies especially late into act 2. If you're not a girl, you should definitely play on expert, and even then the late game will be a bit easy for you. They do have challenging optional fights that will always test you though when things are going too well.

balance is fucked up, before painter power multi hits are heavily favoured with elemental genesis pretty much trivialising most of it.

healing is only valuable if you invest everything into defensive setups, otherwise it just doesn't really make a difference. better to just build for pure aggression since you have a tool to negate any and all damage either way

act 3 bakance. act 3 has a lot of fun stuff to do, but you have to intentionally police and handicap yourself at every turn for the game not to crumble

while the picto and lumina system is quite rewarding, the menuing got more and more exhausting the more you collected. a little more consistent naming on the pictos would've gone a long way (for example last stand pictos sometimes start with last stand, or with the adjective)

more about the narrative, the game starts out with very organic dialogue where people make good points during arguments, but by the end of act 1 devolves into people spouting cryptic shit instead of speaking bluntly like they have up to that point. like how painted Renoir warns maelle, but only with vague shit like "you won't yet understand, but this is a kindness" or "it's her fault, and she doesn't even know it" instead of simply explaining to her what's going on which probably would've been in the interest of everyone.

On Highest difficulty it's dodge or die. Everything will kill you in 1 hit even at 99 vitality. I dunno if you maybe can make a defense build in the post game, haven't tried but during the main game, everything kills you in 1 hit if you don't dodge.

i agree about the difficulty. i had a lot of fun until act 3, then i just started one-shotting everything and the game became pretty boring. at that point, i didn’t even know how to parry or dodge anymore because it was unnecessary.
