Elden ring

Somewhere out there there's a normalfag clicking this thread just to post Expedition 33 or whatever FOTM people like. I want him to look at this picture.
E33
Cruelty Squad
Every fromsoft game and Monster hunter
Many. It's either weebslop or cartoony wet plasticine look.
It's certainly ugly and perhaps even straining to look at, but unique. Top Banana is peculiar at the very least. Me recognizing it right away wouldn't be possible if there was no shred of originality in its art style, even if it's schizophrenic acid nonsense. In my mind "worst" means something that is so aggressively mediocre that it fails to invoke any positive emotion whatsoever. Something that doesn't even attempt to have a personality and refuses go further than simply "existing"
Concord
The correct answer is always Revolution 60 by Brian Wu
Witcher series
Call of Duty
Red Dead Redemption 2
BG3 or any tranny westslop rpg
Cyberpunk 2077 or anything by CDPR
Anything shooting for realism
Reddit Dead Redemption 2 or brown and bloom garbage that is E33 that I keep seeing in the catalogue
I'd say those asset flips where people put shitloads of particle effects
"Originality" is not strictly a merit.
Some things simply should not exist.
came here to post this
nothing can ever top Revolution 60
In my mind "worst" means something that is so aggressively mediocre that it fails to invoke any positive emotion whatsoever.
Terrible criterion. Getting raped sure is memorable for the victim, that doesn't make it good. Meanwhile, grading things by how generic they are is not only insanely nebulous, it literally defines the most fitting example as something boring and not worth anyone's time.
If this was his "ideal" of feminine beauty, it's clear why he trooned so disgracefully.
It’s amazing how regressive final fantasy games are ever since swueenix started trying to chase some photorealistic style
Gachaslop: same anime faces and models with overdesigned shit plastered all over them.
Red Dead Boring or any open world like it: copy and pasting National Geographic is not impressive.
Cruelty Squad or those indie tryhard edgelord garbage
Indie Pixel Shit with minimalist style ala Undertale and its kind
Nidhogg 2
E33
fpbp
I could probably find worse but something about Nuts and Bolts just brings out some visceral reaction in me
It really is a powerful window into the disturbed troon mind. Men depict women a certain way, and women depict women a certain way, but the way troons depict women feels like staring into the abyss.
most n64/early 3d games.
Diablo 3
Deltarune
all the weebshit that looks like this
Overwatch. The Pixar look is too AI generated and soulless at this point.
You're waking up, seeing the hellscape for what it is.
You think Top Banana shouldn't exist?
I fail to see how it's a terrible criterion if "something boring and not worth anyone's time" is exactly what something deemed the worst should be described as. Also
rape analogy
I'm glad you say that, AI really raised awareness about art styles that were oversaturated and cliche.
I felt like after Fortnite, I stopped caring for Overshit and nuBlizzshit. Blizzard has that cartoony slop to it in WoW that turned me off from playing it too long. It's a mockery of WH40k.
Name 1 game
You think Top Banana shouldn't exist?
Its "art style" shouldn't.
Striking as it is, it doesn't enrich the composite in any way.
It's, at best, a grotesque *novelty*.
Not all "outsider art" is worth a damn.
youtu.be
every persona game
Resident Evil. Dead Space had better monster design.
SF x Tekken
Hollow Knight and 3D Zelda after MM
these days
lol
Grotesque novelties like Top Banana and Philosophy of the World are less aesthetically revolting than bland, modern-corporate blobs of 'content' like Concord, a game that evoked positive emotions only through schadenfreude, indirectly at that. It's a centuries-long debate on whether or not the absence of limitations in art is good, and I'd rather see outsider oddities in the realm of reality than pieces that have all the expected qualities of a professional work but are shallow as a puddle
Their eyes are not that big
any 2d pixel shit i fucking hate it
every key game
Visual novels are not video games
Onirism
Cruelty Squad
Does it really count if its bad on purpose
Yes (Cruelty Squad is my favorite game so I'm biased)
It's just Reboot, I don't get it.
"something boring and not worth anyone's time" is exactly what something deemed the worst should be described as.
Except it's not the worst, it's just the most boring and that does not make good discussion material.
Psychonauts. It's disgustingly ugly.
so fucking glad this flopped, butchering the old artstyle was just unforgiveable
Nidhogg 2!
This is plants vs zombies on mobile
fpbp
Sometimes I fear of going into 3D modelling because I think I will end up making ugly models like those.
/thread
what the fuck were they thinking
All of the outsourced to the turd world asset store assembled artistically devoid "remakes" with more post processing than a korean woman on instagram disgust me on a primal level. Spyro Reignited being the worst.
The actual in game art while not the best is not the promo material/cover art
You now remember homocookies from dead rising remake
There's different levels of quality and there is a certain upswing when something sucks in an interesting fashion, but it's rare. Most things that suck are just plain unpleasant to experience.
Top Banana I'm pretty sure was made by an art group anyway, so who knows if it even counts when you expertly craft garbage.
Spyro Reignited being the worst
true. jeetskis did a number on that one. such wasted potential
atleast the dragons looked fine
kill all jannies
It's the exact same shit
delicious
I disagree and think that it's a reasonable criterion to write something off as terrible
Yeah, my main point is that a work that's done in a bland corporate art style like and outweighs a work that looks like ass charmingly in shittiness tenfold, therefore an experimental art style can not be qualifed as "the worst" for being non-standard or low-effort alone
it's a reasonable criterion to write something off as terrible
Not really. Something truly dull leaves no impact on you, neither negative, nor positive. You just walk right past it, keep scrolling if you see it on your computer screen. That's why it's a bad conversation subject, there's nothing to add, it leaves no impression. On Anon Babble people use your thread as a vehicle to bait others into defending games they like. A truly bad game leaves you feeling visceral disgust, not indifference.
Concord looks as boring as it possibly can, yet it succeeded to do everything you think a truly awful-looking video game would. It was ridiculed for a myriad of reasons, sure, but its bland art style was definetely one of them. You can feel way more than indifference towards mediocrity, and Concord is a great example of that
retarded pedantic faggotry
idk whatever your favorite game is
this website fucking sucks now you are all faggots
niggers tongue my anus
This anon is correct, a style that is different and unique is far from being the worst, same thing can be said about zelda cdi, everyonein the 2000s would shit relentlessly on it, but can you really say its bad after all fun you had with it?
Its more fair to say an artstyle that fails to leave a mark, ugly or not, should be considered a bad one, my vote goes to street fighter 5, sf4 was ugly but unique, sf5 is ugly and has nothing going for it, you could argue ken's banana hair spawned a few memes, but people were just glad when it was gone
I don't think half of the people bitching about concord cared either way about the art style, it was the pronouns on the character select screen that set them off.
Concord is actively ugly. That's why it got people talking and got them feeling personally involved in watching it fail, they saw the horrible characters and they wanted to see them crash and burn.
YIIK
rollslop
Return to Monkey Island
Concord's sin was more about the character design, but every hyper realistic game should be considered terrible style honestly
Prison Architect/Rimworld
mortal kombat after 9
This
That's my point. It's not boring or unremarkable, it's offensive.
