Why can't anime games be good?

anime had a nice gimmick that's easily transferable to a video game

always get cheap arena fighter cashgrabs instead

why is it like that??? Take JJK as an example

could've been a game where you eliminate cursed spirits as a sorcerer like plasmophobia but you have superpowers

pick your own cursed technique and binding vows in a perk system

go on deep rock galactic style missions to eliminate various cursed spirit throughout japan

and maybe reenact the sukuna gauntlet in a huge 20 people raid or something

It's a million dollar series that's loved by countless fans, so why can't they spare more effort to potray the anime more faithfully in a game? The only one that did that is edgerunners but that's literally the reverse.

It's crazy how everyone immediately forgot it after the manga ended. Never seen anything that big and omnipresent get fucking wiped off the slate so instantaneously the moment it's over.

Because in the past most anime games were low effort platformers or just shitty copies of pre-existing games. Due to low budgets you're lucky if you get a VN tie-in nowadays. Japan has never had its own version of THQ, they can't into licensed games without just opting for the path of least resistance.

why would any money loving game company put any effort into these cash grabs when it'd get the same amount of revenue if you just make a shitty cashgrab with a few dudes compare to a full fledged, actual game? There's a reason why they are slowly but surely switching to gacha

The SAO games were a good attempt at replicating the Anime.
But considering the autistic unearned hate fanbase it had the games were passed over mostly as "shit".
Looking back now at how cringe the hate fandom was. The SAO games deserve a lot more credit.

Aren't there game devs that are also weebs? Most of them will probably be otakus. Do you think none of them will actually love the series and wanted to potray it faithfully?

China puts effort into their anime/licensed games because they earn a continuous source of income for it. Japanese anime games don't have a lot of effort because they're underfunded and rushed to release it.

The silver lining is that they license passionate doujin titles like Fate Unlimited Codes or Melty Blood

Yea literally it almost frels like a psyop with how hard it died. I'm talking 1 week aftet the ending I'm not seeing any more discussions. He got way too big with his first manga and had no idea what to do with it so every twist flopped hard as fuck

A DRG or Fatshark like game would never fly for japniggers they automatically assume it wouldn't sell. Shit I'd take a musou game though I can see that working decently

All of them are, it is just hard to execute it with a deadline and minimal money. The devs of JJK work on their own passion project.

Why wouldn't it? Japs would certainly like to be the cool sorcerers in jjk and exercise evil spirits right? Or do they just wanna be gojo or sukuna and flaunt blue farts around like a retard?

This. The reason why you dont see anime games because anime by itself already serves its purpose as an ad for the source material and most of these are on a tight budget. Only really really popular anime get games and they usually cheapen them out. Japan never saw anime as anything but vehicle for ads.
Instead you get anime style games, mostly jrpgs.

I'd unironically love a JJK-themed XCOM game where you recruit randomly generated sorcerers with various powers and mental illnesses and send them on missions to get killed by cursed spirits and terrorists.

Because dogshit Bandai Namco makes all the anime games

and before you even try calling it a tranny game, you specifically asked for mental illness.

jap devs are garbage thats why

I played this and enjoyed it.
I wish it was darker and less goofy and the units were random recruits and not premade story characters.

Make it a doujin game that they can license.

I forgot about it after the shibuya arc

I would assume one problem is that if you make a game that puts itself in the setting of some popular shounen like JJK or Attack on Titan, you can't then have the main character the player plays be as awesome as the shounen main characters tend to be portrayed as. You will never be able to do the insane bullshit because that's for the real main characters of the setting, and even if you did get to do something you would always be second fiddle.

why do posers come on here and whine that there's no game for their dumb niche when you can find games like that in two seconds if you just look

Because stupid fucking Bandai has a monopoly in anime games. Those faggots purposefully ruin other games so they can pump out faggot dbz games

It is absolutely criminal that bandai has a stranglehold of the entire anime tie in vidya. Also where's my fucking girls und panzer steam port?

RISE THE PRICE

RISE

stupid retarded ESL tripfag. Checks out

why are licenced cashgrabs generally shitty

Japs don't like games where gameplay is the focus and story is sidelined. Why do you think visual novels top sales for them? They don't like games they like stories.

I would so get behind this

AoT surprisingly had critical acclaim and success with its game to the point that it got a sequel they did a really good job with the nerv gear and making you feel like you were in the show while playing

You see it with modern memes and stuff, low attention span, low retention, even with shows that didnt go to shit at the end.
Blame the modern internet age

True enough, AoT wass probably a bad example to use since it did not turn towards only the Titan-shifters being of any use because lol powerlevels like usually.

Japs don't like games where gameplay is the focus and story is sidelined

This but americans, the inventors of the walking sim and the cinematic tps.

story mode where you can play as some awesome dude like yuji or gojo and have your super awesome ultimate special grade attack or some shit

normal mode with a grade 2/3 bum sorcerer climbing the ranks or some shit

put no effort

stress free release with plenty of sales since the paypigs will buy a turd with a logo slapped on it

put in effort to make a good game

crunch needed to hit deadlines, slightly more sales, majority of sales is still paypigs with no standards anyway

its really creepy and are signs that will lead to problems down the line for society

That still doesn't fix the problem that you will be playing the second fiddle.

That has been true about anything the past decade.
Think hard about all the fotm stuff that came out this year. Now how many of those still has people talking about them? Monster hunter wilds for example sold 10s of millions but not a peep cares about it now

I mean there's a story mode in this hypothetical game, right?

or maybe you can play as multiple yujis like in the arena game?

It was mediocre. Back then what was considered mediocre was something like Naruto, which is 100 times better than this slop

Ok Wilds specifically nobody wants to fight the hordes of angry 3rd worlders that can’t run the game to discuss it

shonenshitters get what they deserve

I mean there really isn't anything to talk about with Wilds until the DLC drops. Releasing one new Monster every 3 months makes it incredibly easy to catch up. Especially if they're going to be releasing shit you've already fought before. There's zero chance lagiacrus is going to be hard if you've been doing all the content to that point.

yeah khazan not being sold lots but not talked about much on korean forums broke my heart

I didn’t particularly care for it and every time someone talked about it was about how great the fight scenes were which isn’t the sort of thing that will lead to long term conversations over it

remember that fight?

yeah that was so cool

and that other one?

yeah was fucking awesome

Even other shounenshit would have people talk about characters and plot points

Yea this isn't a us vs them thing 2 people can be wrong at once, walking sims and 90% of "open world" games are slop same as 99% of visual novels are

diehard weebs have no standards and will buy any slop with the franchise stuck onto it
next question

Well to be fair JJK was also not like the old big shounen series in that it did not take forever to finish. JJK lasted 6 years, meanwhile stuff like Naruto was able to make its legacy by taking 15 god damn years to finish. There was a whole lot more time for anyone into Naruto to grow up along it and then start throwing in the nostalgy bonus if you had been a 10 year old boy or whatever at the start of the series, and by the time it finally ended you are a grown ass man.

Granted I also felt like JJK was just a weak shounen series in general. It had some neat ideas to it but overall it just did not have any sort of real impact. But I applaud it still for finishing in a relatively short amount of time.

JJK was meh. Characters are terribly drawn, combat is kinda meh and overall plot is boring to mid. Female characters seems got an upgrade when they were animated.

they don't have low attention spans, it's just that there's more media than ever. In the past, anime and violent cartoons were sparse and less available. Most people only saw stuff from toonami and 4kids.
youtube.com/watch?v=LFSNBlqee6o

thats true. with lots of streaming sites during the indoor era, not everyone would gravitate towards 1 anime anymore

Good poibt, the output and accessibility of content makes it harder for them to get a more concrete presence, even more so if it's not long running or the only one in its field.

The opening was good. Then as soon as it got to the generic academy and Gojo dick sucking it went to total shit.

All the redditors and anitubers are waiting for the next shonen slop Kagurabachi to get an anime so they can shit post that instead

It's odd but on the other hand look at superhero games, lots of characters in DC and Marvel that could make for great games but they don't even try and when they do the games are crap except those Batman ones.

If your anime's/manga's name isn't Dragon Ball then japs won't bother. They rely too much on brand recognition to carry the sales of the often rushed and low budget games. I'd kill for a Dorohedor brawler.
