DE had minimal voice acting during development and the initial release and BG3's has a significantly reduced amount of writing compared to owlcat stuff. Are they really doing another 40k game next? I liked rogue trader and thought it was a step in the right direction from the pathfinder games but I was hoping for a warhams fantasy game to help the fantasy setting escape the total war cuck shed.

I don't think it's surprising. They made 2 fantasy games already, many studios like to switch fantasy with space fantasy. Warcraft/Starcraft, GW itself, Baldur's Gate/Kotor/Dragon Age/Mass Effect, Endless Space and Legend etc... And Space Opera RPGs STILL are barely a thing. It's just Kotor, Mass Effect and now Rogue Trader really.

Well yea, it basically was a Dark Heresy Campaign. Yes you fight Chaos in RT adventure paths, but it's usually in the sense that you're stealing something from them or racing them to steal something from Elves.

It makes sense to build off an existing ruleset and engine (Rogue Trader game mechanics) while just adding new classes//Origins instead of completely reinventing the wheel with a Warhammer Fantasy CRPG.
A Fantasy game would basically be RT with massively nerfed gunplay, which gimps the existing classes. Or they go all in in reprogramming guns to be bows//crossbows and have a few rare muskets and handcannons.
They could do it, but I think they want to reuse the existing assets they have before investing in the (lets be real) less known (though original) IP.

I've been pretty satisfied with RT so if they build on it like they did from Kingmaker to WOTR i'm sold. RT is one of the very rare games where i have to decide on what I bring for a party because i actually like many of them (cassia, Pasqual and Abelard have reserved spots so that leaves little space.

Dark heresy doesn't have ship battles and the characetrs are slightly weaker due to having lower starting stats. Other than that the mechanics are exactly the same. Unless we're talking about Dark Heresy second edition in which case it ditches the class (archetype) based system in favour of freeform

I hope this new game keeps DH's extremely deadly gameplay intact. So many campaigns cut short by hilarious bad luck. One time we party killed on a stakeout, we were observing a suspected heretic gathering in an old urban park and our fucking idiot psyker tried to read some guys mind, completely botched his fucking rolls, landed on the Perils of the Warp that has him slurped into the warp and a fucking chaos spawn crawls out. So naturally the entire stakeout becomes a goddamned bloodbath. Our 3rd member tried to fire an antique plasma pistol they stole from a local bureaucrats office and again, fudged rolls, so the fucking thing blew up in his hands killing him. My guy died because he got cornered and the only way out was a fucking yellow ladder, but because he was from some feral shit pit planet, during character creation he wound up with a deathly superstitious aversion to anything painted yellow, so I had to make willpower saves to fuckin climb it, which I failed, and i got stabbed to death with a rusty nurgle shit knife.
