What will you be playan?
Which Switch 1 games are you hunting down ahead of the Switch 2 release?
Do you think we'll see PS4 to PS5-like improvements when running Switch 1 games on Switch 2 (same assets, but higher res rendering and better fps?)

What will you be playan?
MK World, and GameCube games (Soul Calibur, Sunshine and then, after playing World for a while, F Zero GX)
Which Switch 1 games are you hunting down ahead of the Switch 2 release?
None at the moment, but I'll get TotK Switch 2 version at some point

Not in general
i got the email from Nintendo that says I'm "in queue" but they don't have an estimate for when i can purchase
what do
This won't distract from Switch 2 being 360p
0 hype for the Switch 2. I have no interest in portable gaming so I'm forced to pay 450 for a screen and battery I'm not gonna use. 70 and 80 for games like Donkey Kong that plays like Knack etc.
shit dev makes a shit port of a shit game
woooaaah wow what an amazing discovery! this is definitely newsworthy!

It's not. Why lie schizo? It's a 4K/60 fps or 1080p/120 fps machine.
PS5
900$ (800$ console + 100$ online) for 480p 35 fps and zero games
Xbox
850$ (730$ console + 120$ for online) for 360p 25 fps and zero games
Steam Deck
PC but with 50% performance for 90% price
Switch 2
470$ (450$ console + 20$ online) for 4k 60 fps for shitload of kino games

It's actually an excellent port. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the graphically intensive games of the generation. It struggles to run on PS5 and Xbox Series X without concessions. And Switch is running the full next gen build, which wasn't even possible on PS4. All on a tiny handheld barely bigger than a smart phone.
Two weeks from today I'll be waiting outside of GameStop with my frens
is it true that mkw wont have communities?
twitch only starting to advertise the switch 2 right now, 2 weeks before launch
yeah, I'm thinking they are gonna be out of stock pretty quickly
Anyone familiar with Jsaux' accessories?
jsaux.com
This bundle seems interesting
I have MKW bundle, Pro-Controller 2, & Cyberpunk pre-ordered @ Gamestop. Their website is a broken mess beneath the hood, so due to some issues that made me aware of this I am slightly concerned that they will fail to charge me when it's time to ship.
I do think that there will be some de facto performance upgrades when running many Switch 1 games, just like how on the other hand there are a handful of titles that are having issues or won't be able to run due to the new architecture. I love that they have gone through every single game individually to make sure they're compatible.
I hope all my favorite games get free updates from their devs, which is the next step up after the general performance boost that games may see. The potential improvements can look like this:
General improvements from simply running the game on the new system
Free tailored updates that are provided by developers
"Switch 2 editions" which are more robust, paid upgrades
Entirely new versions of games, like what Hogwart's Legacy is doing
Should be cool.
tailored updates
All I'm asking is that games a) run and b) if possible run at better framerates or at higher resolutions. For free, naturally. If they want to charge money (the way PS and Xbox do, too) they need to provide meaningful updates with way higher res asstets and 4k or 1080p120 minimum.
mario kart world and botw with the nso upgrade
I'll probably check all the games with free upgrades too but I doubt I'll replay them anytime soon
I don't know about those standards necessarily, but I already made these distinctions:
General improvements from simply running the game on the new system
"Switch 2 editions" which are more robust, paid upgrades
In addition to something in between:
Free tailored updates that are provided by developers
After years of pc gayming i wanted to have physical games so i thought switch 2 might be a good platform but those gay ass keycards kinda took me out of it.
Did the japs mention 60 fps patches ? I want to get Nier Automata and i know it runs at 30 fps on the original Switch. This one should be able to run 60.
Key cards are only for devs that opt for that
Shitch 2 only has 2 games.
ugly as fuck DK = Downgraded Mario Odyssey.
Mario kart straight roads = Downgraded Mario kart 8
lol
The funny thing is, the Switch 2 version is the full next gen version, which was never released on PS4.
don't automata and monhun rise have unlocked framerates? they probably don't even need a patch to run at 60fps
Which Switch 1 games are you hunting down ahead of the Switch 2 release?
Diablo 3, because you can play it offline
Why are basically all ARPGs online only?
As far as I know, the only other "modern" one with an offline mode is Titan Quest 2, but it won't be released for the switch 1/2
I copied this from another thread, because I think this is an important issue. I think the key-cards are concerning, but I want to point out that it's not simply a matter of Nintendo being greedy:
From what I understand Switch 2 is using Samsung's VNAND 3D flash memory, which will transfer data much faster than Switch 1 cards (400MB/s compared to Switch 1's 90MB/s) and that technology simply only comes in 64GB at minimum.
The tech is just simply in a weird spot, where Nintendo basically has to upgrade to more cutting edge flash memory to keep up with what modern games demand, but the trade off being that lower storage tiers don't really exist.
Discs can get away with this by virtue of being relatively cheap regardless of size, but with cartridges the production costs are a much more real issue.
Whether or not they introduce architecture for a new card that has lower transfer speeds, lower storage capacity, and thus lower cost is kind of up in the air, but it wouldn't be as simple as just "making a 16GB option" as some people think.
yeah that looks 4k
Looks like everything points to Wait™ when it comes to my personal case.
Ill wait to see how Nier runs on Switch 2 and what games that i care about come with that gay ass key card. I get that those cards are expensive but that shit becomes paperweight when servers are gone, right ?
This.
And the only way to bring the costs of those cartridges down is to manufacture tens of millions of them which is why Nintendo themselves are putting all of their games on cartridges despite the games being less than 20GB.
The price isn't even prohibitely expensive. Marvelous is putting all of their games on cartridge and they are a rather small publisher.
All Switch 2 games being on key cards in Japan is mostly likely due to weak yen.
You can still redownload all your Wii games 20 years later, so it's not like Nintendo just kills the servers off
key cards in Japan
So there's a chance those games will be physical in the west ? Not now but maybe later down the line they will release them.

holy kek it's the next wiiu for real
It's a from a compressed YouTube video retard.
I'm not entirely sure whether I want to buy a Switch 2 on release or spend the money in a GPU for my new PC.
No.
The only outliers are CP2077 and Rune Factory in terms of not being in key cards, the rest of third party is key cards or codes.
ummm sorry sweatie but digital foundry already said it wasn't true 4K sony win again
If you buy the Switch 2 now, it'll still be getting new games in two years.
If you buy a GPU now, you'll want to upgrade it in two years
Well the Nintendo platform is pretty reddit so i'm not surprised it doesn't have much traction here.
personally buying on release; the price won't change anyway within the first few months except that the console might be sold out everywhere and that only certain retailers will carry them but charge way above msrp.
that and the price might significantly increase just like the ps5 and xboxes did down the line.
so yeah. dont really see the point in waiting if you have the money right now
Give me that online F-Zero GX
What will you be playan?
When Switch arrives I'm gonna pick up Mario Kart World and Cyberpunk 2077 (never played it). Gonna also download and play Fortnite (never played it). Will play some Soul Cailbur 2 and F Zero GX. I hope Fortnite works with the mouse, excited to try out the mouse in one hand and the Left joycon in the other, while sitting on my couch. Will use the mouse with Cyberpunk for sure.
Which Switch 1 games are you hunting down ahead of the Switch 2 release?
- I'm just trying to finish Xenoblade X. I'm 50 hours in but only halfway through the chapters, I don't think I'm gonna make it in time. So I'll probably port Xenoblade over. Eventually I'll get Breath of the Wild (had it for Wii U) but there's too many other games I want to play so I won't have time to play it.
Do you think we'll see PS4 to PS5-like improvements when running Switch 1 games on Switch 2 (same assets, but higher res rendering and better fps?)
- I never played PS5 or Series X so I have no idea how this works
I hope Fortnite works with the mouse
yeah it's been confirmed
The only outliers are CP2077 and Rune Factory in terms of not being in key cards
story of seasons and daemon x machina too
it's better to look at things in terms of publishers because each publisher seems to be wholly opting for one or the other at this point
The game keys things just means “wait for more sales” for me. Unless I really like what you’re selling for pricepoint, you’d better have it on physical.
think silksong will be available soon? I'd like to play it on switch 2 during the launch window
think silksong will be available soon?
lol
