Generally the reasonable way to address this is to clearly state "support is provided only for the latest version; please update if you're having trouble before reporting an issue."

Modders have gotten so much worse in recent years. They never seem to have any passion for modding itself, and just care about the attention and 'clout' they get from it.
Worst part is; these types often find themselves at the head of modding communities and the like, so you also have to deal with their ego slipping through into the rules and moderation.

One community I've been in has a rule where you're not allowed to open another persons mod without getting express permission.
Not even to make an edit, personal or otherwise, just to open the file in the modding tools is against the rules.
God forbid you actually intend to make a private edit of the mod; then you're a thief because "private mods never stay private."
