Why did Venture Bros and ATHF get so fucked over by adult swim/WB?

challenge: adult swim not being giant dicks

when mike lazzo left the network, the new leadership wanted a clean slate. it sucks but its just what happens in TV

Because we can't have nice things.

we got a gas leak that time.

The silent killer.

Venture Bros and ATHF get so fucked over

they both got like six seasons though

Venture Bros is expensive and takes forever to make
Aqua teen just kinda ran it's course

I started playing Doll's Nest and I lost interest pretty quickly when I realized it was a Soulslike.

Didn't this show introduce is to trannies?

AS one day just randomly said fuck you finish it up in a movie
and that ain't even that bad when you compare it to Metalocalypse

I like that one doctor gal but her voice was gay.

Dr Girlfriend is a woman just with a deel voice from smoking

magic murder bag

xD

okay but is that actually funny? is it a good joke? or is it just reference humor

It wasn't even from smoking, it was just some gag that was either referencing something obscure or that they thought would be funny/memorable.

monarch is into 2000s era LiveJournal and cosplay

not a tranny chaser

sure, okay

I jacked it to her rule 34 as a teen and twenty year old many times.

Venture Bros got a finale movie that tied everything up except how much of a pussy bitch Dean was.

...?

Are you some kind of retard, anon? His entire personality and appearance is like that of a geriatric male nanny with eldritch demon powers. You don't even need to to know what it's referencing (which I don't) to appreciate the gag.

I feel the completely nonsensical nature of athf lends itself well to continuing on till the creators are bored of it, and they both wanted to make more. Fuck AS, and fuck Cartoon Network as a whole. Gotta be one of the most retardedly run businesses ever, I still can't believe that retard tried to make them lean into live action

ESL-chan, Dr. Girlfriend is loosely based on Jackie O. That's Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, former president John F. Kennedy's wife. People would joke about her having a gruff voice.

That's a voice. You smoke cigarettes... or eat 'em?

This show was just full of gold.

It has good stuff but imo Gargantua was better.

The best way I could explain it is that it feels like a season of Venture Bros crushed down into a film.

that's literally exactly what happened. their renewal for season 7 was shat on and were forced to do a movie instead

How did the Blue Morpho do it?

I love this cartoon. Satisfying to revisit at different stages in my life with new lore dumps each time.

As a VB fan I'm surprised Venture Bros wasn't cancelled sooner. It took forever between seasons, it was probably Adult Swims most animation heavy show outside of the ones like Black Dynamite, was a half hour show instead of fifteen minutes, and didn't have the stoner humor a lot of other AS shows had at the time. I would have loved if they could wrap it up naturally without a clipped movie but it was a an unfortunate fact.
ATHF just seemed like a spiteful cancellation at the time. Not quite as spiteful as Metalpocalypse where they set up a livestream of people sending in petitions to revive the show getting dumped into a paper shredder though. But even Metalpocalypse got its finale I guess.

Show was the Rock and Morty before Rick and Morty
Started out as a funny parody of something before getting lost in "muh deepest lore" self referential humor.

Hell after Operation PROM I thought it was cancelled even. It wasn't until maybe a few eps into the season after that I heard there was a new season at all.

The worst VB episode is leagues better than the best R&M episode.

I should watch this show, I randomly saw some clips with male voice lady and the butterfly schizo (among others) once, seemed fun

Its because the show was being kept alive purely because Lazzo wanted it to be.
The moment he wasn't around was the moment the show got the boot.

watch venture bros house of mummies part 1, shit is so good

Yeah I can see it being a pet project of someone I guess. I'm glad it stuck around as long as it did.

It's best to just pirate the show since streaming services are schizophrenic in regards to carrying it

Switcharoo or a super-duper costume, I mean he performed every sexual act known to man that night

I wouldn't go that far, but yeah VB was a better show, it's just that it stopped being about making funny jokes and more about its creators jerking each other off
It also got gayer as time went along, that Warriana character being an example of it

When you're arched by Dr Z, you know it! A giant faggot 'jakposter will tear the topic off of your thread! No less than six trannie jannies would spring from their basements!

Only the first seasons of VB was fun, then the show started to take itself way too serious and half the "jokes" were just hollywood celebrity stuff.

I think giving Brock an honest love interest that he's on equal terms with and doesn't share some dramatic history with is good, but she gets dropped after season 6 and you never get to actually see their relationship evolve.

Not only read this in his voice, but also heard the little cheesy music that comes along with Z

Venture Bros got a better end than Harvey Birdman where anything after season 1 is animated like shit and then the special a decade or so later is just about trump which was the only way to convince Colbert to return to it.

SIGH

I think giving Brock an honest love interest that he's on equal terms with and doesn't share some dramatic history with is good,

Sure, but she's hideous and manly
In fact, she's only a few steps better than the hideous and manly bodyguard Doctor Quymn had in season 3.

Manly sure but I dunno about hideous, unless you consider the single boob thing to be a dealbreaker
Hey speaking of manly, did we ever get confirmation on whether Kimberly McManus was a tranny or not?

With a level of dedication to the craft that he imparted onto his son.

And where is your proof my tranny friend?

Correct me if I am wrong. But it was a reference to JFK's wife, who was noted for having a rather deep voice. That and Dr Girlfriends outfit in the first season or two was indeed quite similar to the former first lady's attire.

How is she not hideous? She's like a decent haircut away from the bodyguard

Kimberly McManus

Wasn't she voiced by dude

Hahaha

In her first appearance but voiced by a woman every time after.
I always wondered if she was intended to be trans or not cause doing the "woman with manly voice" gag again with no twist would be a bit odd.

Venture Bros

Ran for 15 years and didn't even reach 100 episodes because Publick and Hammer respect their work too much to just crank episodes out (which is funny to say when you look at S1). It begs the question why it didn't happen sooner, considering that [as] hates artists and kicked Brendon Small to the curb because Metalocalypse was spending too much money on shit like making sure all the instruments were properly animated (honestly makes Skwisgaar constantly practicing in the majority of his scenes feel almost like a troll move)

ATHF

The Boston scare gave suits a major grudge against the show, and I'd suspect a lot of them also just found the show to be embarrassing to have on their network. Probably in a similar vein to how a lot of suits at Warner found stuff like wrestling to be too cheap and an embarrassment to the company, and got rid of it the instant someone like Ted Turner wasn't going to bat for it anymore.

yes

lol, I watched both and while they are very different shows I still don't agree, VB has some real stinkers

Which is especially stupid considering nothing Souls did wasn't done beforehand. DeS was basically a combination of NES Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden in 3D for for its levels (while dark souls had a SOTN style philosophy), OOT camera and control, a stamina system (done in other games) and some basic RPG stats. Then there's dungeon crawling as well.

The "Souls-like" genre is a myth. It's just a resurgence of older game design philosophies when during 7th gen, slop like Ass Creed was the norm for 3D adventure games.

Yeah, I can agree with this. I still loved the show and the characters, but switching Brock with Hatred was when things got kinda stale. I guess they wrote themselves into a corner with that.

I loved the unhinged psychotic rage Brock would unleash at anyone who slighted him. They didn't do nearly enough with it IMO, but what they did was pure gold. He's like the most badass character I've ever seen on TV.

I like the later seasons set in NYC but if there was ever a perfect way to have ended the show it would've been with Operation PROM.

The whole sequence with Brock losing Mol on the edge of the cliff, rushing back to the compound, crashing, then desperately sprinting toward the hanger is, still to this day, so fucking kino

Whole sequence is synced to the song, absolute perfection

Brock Samson vs Black Dynamite, who wins, Anon Babble?

first time watching Venture Bros

disgusted with Dr. Girlfriend's voice

many episodes later

disgusted when I imagined her with a normal voice

Anon, don't be an idiot. What the Souls games did right was combine a bunch of ideas to make something that was EXACTLY what the medium was lacking back in the early 2010-- an immersive fantasy adventure that wasn't stuck on Nintendo consoles.

7th gen was an absolute shitshow of MUH GRAFIX and "competitive" dudebro games. Souls was an immense breath of fresh air for everyone who was feeling burned out by the utter lack of anything new. People like you who try to claim that Souls didn't do anything to deserve its merit because the ideas were done before totally miss the forest for the trees and should lurk moar instead of posting.

Then the whores turn into bug people and Brock gins that grin and it's just the perfect ending. Plus it's got the "Rusty Venture" sex act running gag which just elevates it even higher

Based Operation PROM appreciators. That whole final scene is absolute goddamn kino. I think that really was the end of the series for me. Can't remember a whole lot that followed and don't feel much of a need to go back and wrap it up. I never finished watching the show but I've rewatched the first 4 seasons like 20 times.

Like a Friend is such a great song too
Feels like the show got worse to me the further they went from a parody and lost focus on the boys.
Dean became such a fag

Love how Brock brings up friendship when lecturing Mol about being a bad person

Well yeah man, I agree with you. That's basically exactly what I said and you're misinterpreting my emphasis. I love the Souls series.

I just fucking hate this term "Souls-like " because its zoomer/journo vernacular from people who have no history with pre-7th gen games. This idea that it's a new genre because the term is fucking cringe - it's just classic game design without the casualization that was rampant at that time. I agree, its precisely what I needed since I was burnt by Twilight Princess being dog shit and my 5 hours with Assassin's Creed made me want to fucking die.

I always thought they were 1 dimensional in the earlier seasons, thought they became more interesting as time went on
Hell Hank and Dean were why I originally dropped the before the end of season 1

To add to this, when Demon's Souls first came out - I just considered it a 3rd person Oblivion/Zelda hybrid lmao.

Oh, sorry anon-- I just get annoyed when I read what sounds like people trying to act like Souls is nothing special and doesn't deserve to be celebrated for what it did.

Personally, I don't feel slighted when I see people use the term "souls-like" because I think it's an accurate way to describe what a person is in for (dark fantasy RPG with unforgiving gameplay that follows "metroidvania" level design philosophy and minimalist storytelling). The fact that it's basically become a term that people use for games that are designed to be hard as hell is an unfortunate consequence of the way it was marketed. THAT's the only time that it irks me when people use that term.

Now post the scene where he talks about jacking off to hentai

very nice

scouts.jpg - 900x931, 84.95K

So who DID end up killing Jonas and everybody at the movie night? Was it actually just Vendata?

Because it felt like that that scene with him and Jonas and him made it seem like it wasn't Vendata who did it.

Kino

He got killed when the doors opened, it was probably Vendata that opened them, but it could've been anyone from Red Death's crew, the take is that it doesn't matter anyway since Vendata was the one planned the thing
Man, I honestly preferred early seasons Jonas, when the parody was still apt and the joke was that he was well intentioned but incompetent as a parent, making fun of Benton Quest's 50s parenthood style and how exposing a ten year old to regular danger wouldn't be psychologically well.
They pushed so much shit onto him season by season though, the guy wasn't just an ass, but one of the worst sociopaths I've ever seen.

Them being better written characters wasn't necessarily a better thing, in terms of their value for the show. Hank got funnier but Dean just got whinier and bitchier and more insufferable

Hell after Operation PROM I thought it was cancelled even.

God that was a great finale. Show could've ended right there and then and I would've been sad but fine with it.

mike lazlo left. venture brothers was a passion project. athf was running for too long i think and no one on the network wanted anything to do with it anymore.

The brought ATHF back, and with a higher budget too, maybe there's still hope for VB

dean became a somewhat emo

fucks his brothers girlfriend

I am so fucking mad, dean deserved to have his ass kicked and hank deserved better

I just don't like how Hank was so quick to forgive but maybe that's the nature of it being a movie.

Enrico Matassa > Hank > the Bat > Detective Hank > Russian Guyovich

I wouldn't say nobody wanted to work on ATHF anymore, when the guys making the show clearly want to keep doing it.

I was refering to the righer ups.

Imagine clutching your pearls at a still image

3ibryn.png - 477x349, 81.03K

Lawnmower Dog was funny and it was downhill from there

my theory is that the 8th season was going to be about that but for the sake of trying to give it closure they just made hank go "yeah, I guess I'm still a bit angry at you but it's okay".

I'm curious on Anon Babble's reasoning for liking venture bros. Considering it has not one but two literal faggots like Al and Shoreleave.

because unlike you I don't think about gay men

Shoreleave is the faggot in media people like, the openly camp faggot that's a faggot and does faggy things, while still being entertaining and not presented as normal or something every kids should aspire too.
He's like Freddy Mercury, a character

images (7).jpg - 300x168, 8.69K

It's funny

Because Al and Shoreleave are actually fun. I don't care if a character is a faggot, just write them like how you would anybody else instead of making them some preachy untouchable superman that can't do any wrong or be the butt of any jokes.

Okay but what IS a Rusty Venture?

Because I like good characters, I don't care about who they are. Same thing with Jefferson

But I don't like Shoreleave. He still has some good moments

Bisexual here
He's a cutie

Honestly I hope they somehow get one more season. It clear the movie is just what season 7 would have been. But it still left some questions unanswered and plot threads untied. I didnt really care who hank and Dean's mother was.

Now that it's all over and the dust has finally settled: what exactly was the rusty venture show? A cartoon? A livestream of their adventures? both?

I think it was a cartoon based of Venture's adventures

It's part of their brand? The screwed over the Samurai Jack ending by giving it one episode to wrap up instead of the promised hour. It deserved a movie length type ending but they didn't have the money.

A cartoon that glorified and fictionalized the adventures of the original Team Venture, starring Rusty.

4th Wall maneuver. The show it's a pastiche of Johnny Quest.

No, Mr. Lahey deserves that title

We got a disappointing end, anyway

He's Henry Kissinger...

His umbrella is caught on the scaffolding. He requires assistance.

They wanted him to be like kid Rusty but that idea kinda goes out the window with Dean being able to pull Serena. Young adult Rusty could never. But yeah generally speaking they leaned into his moodiness a bit too much.

It's a dramatized and sanitized version of Team Venture's escapades. This is made super clear in season 6 and 7 when we learn about Jonas taking Kano as payment for giving Blue Morpho a Rusty clone to raise as his own. In the Rusty Venture comics this is whitewashed to be Jonas saving BM from a villain's brainwashing or something like that, I don't remember. From this we can assume everything in the Rusty Venture show & comics was fictionalized to scrub away any the offenses of Team Venture. It's basically propaganda.

Its also why the world thinks the Guild of Calamitous Intent isn't real, they're just "the bad guys from that old Rusty Venture cartoon".

I think a proper season 8 would've done a lot to redeem Dean but obviously that never came to fruition so now he's just kind of a piece of shit forever.

Anon Babble isn't a hivemind just because Anon Babble has spawned anons who spam hatespeech all over the website. This website used to be where people could express ideas freely, not a zero-tolerance den full of nazis.

So if the shows events take place across roughly two years but every season takes place in the year it was written, then what the fuck is the timeline of the show?

Same as Simpsons.

Ben gives Hank the complications speech from Jonas at the end of the movie, I don't think they wanted him to be seen as completely irredeemable at the end.

But the historical events of VB are pretty concrete, no? In the Simpsons they nudge characters' histories up to match up with the current day, so you get shit like Marge & Homer entering adulthood in the 90's. But AFAIK they didn't adjust historical events in VB in the same way.
It doesn't ruin the show for me bur it does stump me when I think about it.

Yeah they really couldn't dedicate much time to it with everything else they had to cram into the movie. It just kills me that they only needed one season more to wrap everything up on their terms.

I liked the first two seasons of this show but dropped off hard after a few episodes of season 3.

They call it a sliding timescale. Its always two years worth of events, but WHICH two years are constantly updated to keep up with pop culture.

I just got into watching this.
Please tell me the Sergeant Hatred recovering pedophile joke takes a rest soon. Its been happening every episode since he joined the main crew.

Yep. At least he knows he fucked up big time, so we can headcanon that he would've changed for the better after that. And that they'd reconected again after drifting apart. Overall I do really like how real all their drama feels, though.

Please tell me the Sergeant Hatred recovering pedophile joke takes a rest soon. Its been happening every episode since he joined the main crew.

It eventually cools down yeah.

Everyone but me hates this joke apparently. It does get toned down but I think they get some funny stuff out of it.

But the show has historical events that take place at concrete times before the 2000's, so it gets a little odd when you think about it. For example The Pyramid Wars started in 1987 and Brock got drafted into them after he left to enlist in the OSI in college. So if he was 20+ in 1987 then he would be well in his 50's by season 7, which seems way too old for him. Rusty's history and age discrepancies can mostly be handwaved with him being a clone but it doesn't really add up elsewhere. And this is just one example.
Have Doc & Jackson ever given a definitive explanation for the odd timeline?

Not that we know of. Its like the Simpsons, we're not supposed to think about it too much.

Some of it has been funny, its just a lot of it.
Him screeching and running out of the theater and locking himself in the panic room was funny.

Yeah, like I said it doesn't ruin the show or anything, but it is a bit odd to not address it. Sometimes I wonder if the show would've been better if they kept it in the 2000's and it just evolved into a period piece after multiple seasons. Like instead of the Helper Pods in season 7 being modeled after Alexa they could've been a parody of the original ipod.

Sometimes it felt like one with all the references to 60s/70s television. But then we'd miss out on brilliant lines like "Yeah Clarissa, explain it all!"

I think a lot of it is honestly pretty sad and it does help endear me to Hatred by showing how much he suffers from his problems. I wouldn't have liked him as much if they just brushed it all off as soon as he joined the team.
But yeah they do lighten up on the pedo jokes as the show goes on. I take it as him slowly overcoming his problems over time. But maybe fans just complained, idk.

People talk about Mike Lazzo being kind of a shitty boss but tbf he also kept Venture Brothers alive when no one else would and when he stepped down, Michael Ouweleen the co-creator of Harvey Birdman took over and immediately killed it (despite it already being greenlit for an 8th season) because he was still bitter that back in the day his show got cancelled and VB didn't.

Williams Street is such a goddamn petty place.

Hunter?

Thankfully birdgirl ate shit and will never se the light of day again.

haha really? i never caught that. i always loved how connected this show was to early 2000s internet

I don't understand people that hate s6. If you've been watching up to this point, how are you not invested in the DEEP LORE and character building by now? That's what the show has been since season 4, season 6 and the s7 three-parter intro just rewards actually being invested.

Williams Street is such a goddamn petty place.

Considering the nature of the content that they put out, that doesn't really surprise me. If you put a bunch of genius/auteurs in a room, they're likely going to start competing with one another in ways that can lead to the kind of friction that destroys good work.

Sad, but that's the way it goes.

Did we ever get an answer or atleast a pretty good theory into who scarebear was?

The best way I could explain it is that it feels like a season of Venture Bros crushed down into a film.

Because that's quite literally what it was. Go back and rewatch it, there's now a bunch of scenes you will see and go "oh, this scene was originally an entire episode"

Yeah, "chick". I'm still lookin' for scar--

I'm convinced it wasn't actually the Blue Morpho but rather the Sovereign. He's already shown he will disguise himself as other people to fuck them over.

Silly billy

They toned it back a little in the movie, realizing they went a bit too far.

Benton Quest's

Jonas Sr. is based on pulp hero Doc Savage, not Dr. Quest

I refuse to belive there are people that don't like Shoreleave

SPHINX!

Some people really are just that homophobic.
But it makes you wonder why they're watching VB when it had gay characters even before him. Maybe Al and Col. Gentleman are "straight gay" enough for them to tolerate.

4 years between seasons 1 and 7

but what about Morpheus saying Action Man would have a stroke in 2 years?

Doc and Jackson have talked about this in the commentary, basically that if you're told you're going to die of a stroke in 2 years then you'd probably start eating right, start exercising, maybe take some aspirin, you could delay that stroke by a couple years if you play your cards right. Remember, Action Man had a beer gut in s1, he didn't in s6, he got in shape.

Have Doc & Jackson ever given a definitive explanation for the odd timeline?

Yes, there is actually an official canon answer: that EVERYONE in the show has a really shitty memory and if there's a retcon of something we never saw happen in the present then it wasn't a retcon, they just misremembered events.

Please don’t move, we are calibrating… The Nozzle

She speaks... the bullshit.

Yeah I heard about everyone essentially being an unreliable narrator. Personally I don't really buy it as an idea explanation but it's the best we'll get I suppose.

I have the opposite view. That is such a perfect copout in its implementation that I wonder why MORE creators don't use that excuse.

What WAS that thing?

I have no idea.

Really it's some of the simple jokes that get to me in this show.

Oh it's a perfect copout no doubt but still a copout nontheless. But it doesn't bug me too much lol

kills The Sovereign basically by accident

Actually it was Headshot who killed him. Shoreleave just had his ears blown out by the gunshot.

This channel put together a fairly definitive timeline of the VB show as it's the guy's favorite show.
youtube.com/watch?v=p8YteNFDeT8
It gets a COUPLE things wrong that get addressed in the followup video like when the Captain got stranded (it had to have been late enough for him to have seen Degrassi), but aside from some things like that it's like 90% accurate without any real plot holes.

tied everything up

Sooooort of. It's clear some of it was wrapped up prematurely. Scare Bear didn't pay off, Grover Cleveland's presidential time machine didn't pay off, and Dean and Hank's conflict was rushed to a resolution.
I'm thankful for it, but wish we could have had a whole season instead.

They toned it back a little in the movie, realizing they went a bit too far.

Yeah, it just came off as disingenuous.
"Here's you rapist, blackmailing, psychopath grandpa's watch"

Jonas Sr. is based on pulp hero Doc Savage, not Dr. Quest

He very obviously has more than one inspiration, James Bond was one of them

i dont like season 6 that much cause there was no Dr. O..it was 6 right?

Well, that’s what you get when Time-Warner is run by a bunch of crooks who had plans to tank the whole company and then sell all the assets off for a quick buck.

lazzo hate is almost totally undeserved. he created adult swim, played a big role in cultivating its OG shows, and kept shit like VB alive. i love metalocalypse and moral orel but the people who hold grudges over him cancelling those are gay

wtf? i own this kek. i'm not even a diehard superfan or anything.. maybe i should sell that shit

Oh I know. We could have been fucked over even harder, but I still wish we lived in the universe where good things are allowed to exist for as long as they need to (and not a moment more).

Venture thread?
On my Anon Babble?
Nice.

we need more souls-like games

a game where you are a caveman and have to darksouls your way into the ice age with dinosaur waifus

I wouldn't even say the movie is an unsatisfying end. It's just simply an end.

Far Cry beat us to it. I don't even remember Primal being all that bad.

It was about as satisfying as a movie ending could be, to be honest. That just goes to show how good Doc Hammer and Christopher McCulloch are.

Shame that Doc Hammer has been effectively on the verge of death for years

deletes an entire subplot because she was voiced by the creator's wife

People need to stop putting their friends and romantic entanglements in their work.

Triana8.jpg - 250x186, 14.77K

destroy the planet, PRICK! explains it.

No one thought they were going to divorce when the show was also.
Also tbf, what can you really do with her after Operation PROM?

She was also written out because she was "too normal" and difficult to write stories for

was also.

was started, I meant

It's because the performance and writing are so good. Her mannerisms are so distinctly feminine that even with her objectively masculine voice, she still reads as completely female by the end of the show.

You don't make business with family or friends

I mean there's that and as I said earlier, the simple fact that you just kinda stop noticing she sounds like a dude and it doesn't even register for you by like season 4. That's just her voice.

In the beginning it was just a cheap gag, but as they wrote more for her to do and put more care into the character, she got fleshed out better, voice and all.
Sheila's transformation is one of the most impressive parts of the show for me.

For me it's Gary but that seems like a lame answer because everyone says that

This, kek. It's actually kind of jarring when other characters point it out. Like that joke mentioned. When people in the show point it out I suddenly remember she's supposed to have an shockingly male voice.

Could anyone here in Anon Babble take TUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRNBUCKLE?

Yeah this is still my theory as to where they would have gone with it if they didn't get canceled.
There's also the fact that when Dean left the hospital to look for Hank, he runs into literally Russian Guyovich out on the street.

fucking lol

And so the Action Man because he is a full on psycho pistol whips the guy into the ground like a tent pole

Rodney killed a baybeh

then he would be well in his 50's by season 7

That sounds spot on to me. He went to college with Rusty, don't forget.

Tigtone got fucked over worse, it was one of the few good modern AS shows and it got sold to the government as those tax write offs like what happened with Megas XLR.

From what I can tell Megas got cancelled because the CN heads hated making it as it had a fairly expensive animation budget and its creator had WAY too much creative control

Tbf, the voice does get a bit softer
It's still clearly a dude, but it's less jarring than the obvious gag voice it was in the first seasons

Nah that's not lame, Gary had great character development too. I'm positive at least part of the reason you feel that way is because he turns into a badass, but that is still perfectly valid.

Do you guys believe it was a werewolf?

I didnt really care who hank and Dean's mother was.

Their mother is Rusty, he reproduced asexually using an artificial womb he kept attached to himself.

He's in the game for maybe an hour if you want to fully explore the map and his only joke is that he is Moxxi's ex and has a small cock because it's Gearbox and they're insecure about Moxxi
The best character in that shitty game is the random Maliwan soldier that makes fun of Ava's diary

A little, but it's mostly that he adds some more feminine lisps and such into the way she talks. It's still deeper and more gravelly than a normal man's voice, even by the end.

Man I remember when Tigtone was a secret Anon Babble in-joke because for like 5 years that original YT video only managed to accumulate like 3k views and so it was lines we'd quote to each other that only we'd get.

ghost wizard.png - 1807x1196, 1.16M

Also I will go on record saying Doc Hammer's woman (man (man for real)) voice is infinitely more convincing than any IRL tranny with vocal fry.

Wasn't it implied that the eggs came from Debra/Mantilla?
My first exposure to Tigtone was from Grayfruit, but I can't remember from which LP. I think one of the Lark Souls playthroughs.

Yes, she sold off her eggs since she wasn't using them anyway

I think it was, but Gentleman just wanted to give him shit about it.

she cute tho

Not specified exactly which parts were used, but yeah it was obviously some combination of uterus/eggs/ovaries.

A wee baybeh...

Rusty's line about their mother loving them very much implies that the eggs were synthesized from Rusty himself IMO. Biologically, Debra would be their mother if it were her eggs that were used.

Anon.
Rusty was effectively both the mother and father

6 was great because the focus was on the shows actual protagonist
7 was just okay

I know, that's what I'm saying.
If the eggs really were from someone else, he would not be their mother, genetically speaking.

I meant because of the artificial womb part

No he was just man pregnant with them. They have Debbie's DNA. The point is that they're the grandchildren of Jonas and his arch.

IIRC he doesn't say "your mother" he says "the person who gave birth to you" which falls in line with him using Debbie's eggs to carry the boys to term himself.

I love how "The Venture Bros." is a quadruple entendre by the end of the show.
Hank and Dean
Rusty and Jonas
Hank and Dermot
Rusty and Malcolm

I mean technically Rusty and Malcolm aren't brothers, they're the same person. So we never got to say "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Doc and Monarch were the REAL Venture Brothers the whole time!"

But is your clone also your family?

It always bothered me how tf2 was running at like 5 fps on this scene.

Really wish we could have gotten more of Dermot near the end. His story was fairly wrapped up, but it definitely felt he was gonna be following in Sgt. Hatred/Brock shoes as filling the role of a bodyguard for the Ventures.

Why wouldnt Adult Swim capitalize on this and print the book again when they know people are willing to pay 10x the price?

It was published through a third party and discontinued is the easy answer, and I think it's Doc and Jackson who have the rights to do it, not AS

Identical twins are for all intents and purposes also clones.

How many "characters that are just Jackson and Doc talking about nerd shit" duos are there?

21 and 24

Watch and Ward

Red Mantle and Dragoon

Tim-Tom and Kevin

Gary and Monarch

Billy and Pete

I'm cool with where Dermot went. The "annoying whitetrash shit" to "low ranking military grunt" pipeline is very real. He's a little more mature, but still a dork, and still best buds with Hank. Didn't do anything important in the plot, but he didn't really need to.

The real crime is that we didn't get to see more of her mom

file.png - 1920x1080, 2.01M

if you expand it to "characters that are just Jackson and Doc" thats 90% of the show

monarch and dr mrs the monarch

cardholder and doe

hank and dermot

would till the room STINKS

I think you got them all except for the 2 OSI agents who get instantly sacked

The master takes on the form of Orpheus' former wife and talks about how hot her body is in front of him.

I could not stop laughing the whole time while that was going on.

The ones that turned out to be double agents working for the Guild?
They were just a reference to a John Goodman movie

Video games Colonel Gentleman wishes he had when he were a lad (but they weren't invented yet)

Even worse yet we never get to see *her*
again.

Thats surprising I thought AS would have an iron grip on all merchandise.

Kim3.jpg - 1103x830, 384.57K

the dvd has a special feature where he just keeps listing more shit

I feel like the timeline doesn't add up and they were just kinda wanted to move a different way with Dean, the divorce was a coincidence because who the fuck would

Get a divorce

Write the character off

Then like a year and a half later have your ex come back so you could re-enact your break up in which you portray yourself as a massive fucking baby

But still write her off

Doc would have to be a legitimate psychopath to do ALL that.
Dr Mrs and Monarch
Dermott and Hank

He specifically said "the person who gave birth to you"

It's obvious she's their biological mother. She's literally fem Hank

file.png - 993x789, 962.02K

A cameo would have been nice, just have her in the background when the new council is addressing the GCI.

that episode where al brings a star wars character to life and him, orpheus, and twilight debate killing him

What's wrong with having an uncut penis?

What are the odds those are Rusty's daughters?

Fair enough, I misremembered. That does make more sense, as it does make Dean the legitimate heir to Force Majeure (though technically it should be Hank, given that he was the firstborn)

IIRC, Quymn moved away when they were still kids.

Chrono Trigger
Tenchu Stealth Assassins
Donkey Konga, the Donkey Kong game with the plasticbongos
Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Time Crisis with Namco Guncon
Jurassic Park The Lost World Arcade Cabinet
TOMBA

That was hilarious

Jonas was Dr. Quymn's father, right?

Yet another victim of Doc and Jackson's "fuck the fans" mentality. Sometimes it gave us really great stuff like 21's arc, sometimes it gave us this.

I wish we had some more episodes of random villain of the week like underbite or the ninja dude from episode 1
I like the concept of the assigned arches, but the system limits the possible encounters, I think.
The monarch is really fun, but there are so many other villains we can see, some from single episodes or just on the background.
That's the thing about venture bros, the characters in the show are so well done, i just want to see more of their lives. Unlike other series were i end up disliking a ton of the cast by the end or after rewatch, i can't name a single bad character here. I would watch any spinoff about the sidecharacters. Shoreleave and skypilot, ward and watch, a soverign prequel, etc.

a soverign prequel

[as] is too lame to do this now but it'd be really funny if they announced a sovereign prequel and then just aired that shitty Bowie biopic from a few years back

Kek, the scene where he goes GO AHEAD…TAKE IT FROM ME, but he’s like 5’2
This show was always funny but I had no idea what they were talking about
Also frisky dingo

I'm more bothered by the fact that they're English and should have no preference about circumcised penises let alone see it as weird, specially since they travel around the world a lot, they would either have experience with both or have no clue about it depending on how slutty they are.

The monarch was always stupid

Honestly though fuck the fans, they did it to themselves by being annoying.

There's a reality where Doc and Jackson dust off Kim for a fun little cameo because they finally remembered her instead of getting badgered by horny fanboys every convention

I generally think their mentality in this regard was correct, yeah. If fans had their way the show would never have evolved past the initial Johnny Quest parody.

he has a great personality. At least you can perceive when the voice actors are having a blast.

youtube.com/watch?v=_rek1TzX2vw

Kinda funny when you realize Hank and Dean are heirs to the guild of calamitous intent, with multiple claims on it (their paternal great-grandfather was the founder, their maternal grandfather is Force Majeure)
Even if they would never do it, they could claim the title of sovereign if they wanted with a really solid claim to that "throne"

the writers are breaking balls.

Venture bros is unironically a better story about self-actualization and "being your authentic self" than all those "I was born in the wrong body and my parents hate me" tranny soap operas despite not trying even half as hard.

Everyone was a joke in the first two seasons and after that they had genuine character development

I think if you look close enough you can see the show evolve in real time.
By end of Season 1 the start playing with the idea of continuity and story arcs with the Monarch going to prison. By the end of Season 2 you see them comiting more to character growth.
