Is this game worth a try? I'm a huge fan of JRPG's but stuff made by westerners or europeans is usually bad and soulless.
Is this game worth a try...
Like, I don't wanna get it and the game ends up being bad.
You won't like it; it's mediocre at best.
Thanks for your input. I want more opinions though before I make a decision
stuff made by westerners or europeans is usually bad and soulless
(You)
Pirate it and see for yourself.
I did, played it for 2 hours and ended up liking it so much I went and bought it.
It's pretty good. Most of the discussion ends up being about the last couple hours. It's about 30 hours and $50 so just play the game and make your own opinion.
Asking on cuck/v/
This board is for shitposting, Anon.
Haven't finished it yet (I'm at the top of the monolith; gonna grind for a while until all my team has the same level).
It's a very pretty-looking game but if you're a fan of JRPGs you are going to find it very underwhelming, even mediocre.
Is this game worth a try?
try, sure. don't go in with high expectations, though.
stuff made by westerners or europeans is usually bad and soulless
well, my friend, that's this pile of memed slop without reservation
its an 8/10 and I say that as someone who despises all the shills here. It's not a masterpiece but the combat is addicting, and the presentation is some of the best in recent history with cutscenes looking like a movie. The characters arent that memorable besides the main villain and feet, and the music is great. The only problem I had was the story was kind of a let down but thats only part of the experience.
People pretend to like it because they hate the AAA industry (the E33 developers are even ex-Ubisoft fans) and rallied behind it as a form of protest. The consensus among the people who actually played is that the game is pretty shitty, a textbook example of style over substance.
Yeah, the gameplay feels like a bag of sand.
it's overrated slop; the developers simply marketed it the right way
A half dozen threads in the catalog and you need an entire new one just to ask this dumb question?
I'm a huge fan of JRPG's
Game is made by ouiaboos. Get it, unless you hate french cinema that much.
Easy to pirate.
And coomers.
Its 4/10 at best. The story makes absolutely no sense. The characters are dull UE5 generic reddit slop. Oh and have fun spending 3 hours every fight learning how to spam the parry button when the parry window is 0.000000001 milliseconds long. This game convinced me that the majority of the internet gassing this slop up are literal bots. There's no way anyone with a IQ above 20 could possibly enjoy this.

LMFAO
If you are a real jrpg fan you will think this sucks. It feels like a poor imitation
It's a 9/10 game.
It's overrated. It's ok but very overrated by gaming journalists. And it's not a jrpg. J means japanese. Fuck all the gaming jouranlsits trying to change the meaning of shit to fit their bullshit.
Explain the story then. You can't without watching some 4 hour youtube slop essay. It makes no sense that Renoir tries to fight you and then suddenly after killing him he loves you. Alicia being Mael from the past also makes 0 sense because she shows up physically OUTSIDE of flashbacks.
It is both good and full of soul
but very French
This didn't need a new thread.
Yes, it's great. Arguably GOTY so far, better than Khazan for sure.
It has no DRM, so just pirate it, or get it on goypass if you are unsure. It's like 30 hours, 60 if you do all optional stuff. Play with a controller, not keyboard. It is decently optimized, but tone down the UE5 effects (vignette, chromatic aberration, volumetric fog etc.)
Go in blind and don't get spoiled.
</shill>
You are unironically and without question an actual fuckin idiot
Surely this post is bait?
what
It's a fantastic game, pirate if you want, it's easy enough.
I totally agree, western game are shit
But Clair Obscur is an exception
Hell, I don't ever consider it has a western game
You're an idiot!
No I can't explain why! I just feel that way!
It's a very pretty-looking game but if you're a fan of JRPGs you are going to find it very underwhelming, even mediocre.
The fuck? I've played games from almost every JRPG series and I can tell Clair Obscur is one of the best game of the genre
this is a shill thread btw
You have never played a game this good and I'm not kidding
this is a 100% organic post folx
Verso literally tells you him and Renoir were part of the first expedition. Then halfway through the game the writers decided to change their mind and scrap that idea and turned them into Mael's family instead. It literally does not make any sense and I'm sick of redditards pretending it does to fit in.
Anon, it's not the same Renoir.
Are you illiterate?
This post was written by an idiot btw
No, you see, the writers brilliantly changed the story halfway through so they made MULTIPLE Renoirs so they didn't have to start over again! Its genius!
this is one of the purest forms of retardation I've ever seen on this board
This HAS to be bait, right?
youtu.be
It's the best Final Fantasy since X.
You just proved my point, retard. You need a youtube video to explain the story to you. Why couldn't you just explain yourself? Is it because you know the story doesn't actually make logical sense?
Cool argument bro. You definitely refuted my argument by calling me retarded
Firstly, go to Steam and read some reviews by people who played the game. There, it's confirmed that they did, because otherwise you can't write a review. If you play on a PS5, you know perfectly well how some people react to games that aren't on their platform.
Secondly, I love JRPGs and I also tried some western "J"RPGs considered the best, like Sea of Stars or Cross Code, and they all lack something even an average 6/10 JRPG has. Gameplay, visuals and so on may all be good, but I always have enough after a few hours.
Well, E33 doesn't lack "it". Haven't finished it yet, because I'm taking it very slowly, but the game is great. As long as you don't mind both turn-based combat and parrying/evading.
You need a youtube video to explain the story to you.
This is a cutscene in the video game.
I see there's a smoothbrain ITT who doesn't get the story, so just in case I'm going to mention this: Clair's plot is completely explained in the game and it's easy to follow compared to how convoluted stories in JRPGs often are.
Completely organic non-shill post
compared to how convoluted stories in JRPGs often are.
is this the part of the thread where people who don't play jrpgs come up with a trope, cliche or problem with the entire genre they drempt up that e33 magically solved?
Is this game worth a try?
Yes.
Literally everyone I know who has played it (10+ people) has really enjoyed it and thought it was great. The only real issues are the balance problems with you getting too overpowered.
The only real issues are the balance problems with you getting too overpowered.
They just need to cap Painted Power to 99k/999k/unlimited as you do story bosses
You can't be this stupid right? How would you feel if you didn't eat breakfast today?
No, it's the part where a person who have played 10 times more JRPGs than you have and even learned Japanese to play more, tells you how it is.
Play E33 and then compare its story to, for example: FF8, FF13, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Tales of Rebirth, Tales of the Abyss, ToP Narikiri Dungeon, London Seirei Tanteidan and many, many more. Compared to them E33 is easy to understand.
And I'm not "shitting" on anything. Some of the games I mentioned above are among my very favourite games.
Pic is a folder where I put screenshots from JRPGs I finished (only finished). Started collecting ~9 years ago, so that's probably not even half of them, since I've been playing JRPGs since the 90s. If you don't believe, tell me which game you want and I'll post some screenshots. Sometimes I make webms too.
60 hours in yea. square fucking mogged
It should be capped at 9 mil 999k at most. One shotting Simon and skipping phase 3 is shit.
Anon ignore the doomer faggots in this thread. If you like old FF games and miss shit like them you will love it.
Game is cheap af, on gamepass, and has no denuvo if you want to pirate it. Main story length is very short too. 20-30 hours, not a slogfest that goes on 100 hours. Literally no reason not to at least try it and judge for yourself.
I think its pretty good. Not the best JRPG of the decade but it's a solid game and worth checking out.
What's the best JRPG of the decade?
I wish they'd go back to overworlds
then you should know better not to make stupid generalities like that.
I only recently played Dragon Quest 8 for the first time, after playing a lot of much newer JRPGs. When I started, it never even crossed my mind that there could be overworld, because I considered DQ8 one of the "new" JRPGs. I was very surprised and happy. And I was surprised again when it turned out you could fly later, like in most JRPGs, and that's another thing I was sure wouldn't be in the game.
But it's pretty strange, when you think about it. In most JRPGs overworld doesn't really change much: there aren't optional bosses on the map (like in E33), and very often there aren't even any optional places to visit and the best you can count on is a high level optional dungeon in the very end game.
So, in games like that, what would really change if the game just gave a cutscene and throw you from the current location to another without the overworld in-between? What would really change in FFX if there was the world map? Theoretically not much, but somehow it's fun to have one, strange.
Thank you all for your input. Looks like I'll be giving it a try.
Lmao butt blasted
Have fun, be on the look around for the best character in the game.
If you haven't already, don't open the picture posted by the triple nigger above me.
You literally see her 1 hour into the game anon, it's not a spoiler
