It’s a necessary shift in strategy, Microsoft is probably too far ahead of the curve with this pivot and they actually ARE doing it to try and save Xbox. PlayStation console sales are doing well but that’s the issue, the install base is aging and they aren’t getting kids who are more into mobile/PC increasingly. But they’re scared to do much more than just publishing some games on steam because it could hurt brand reputation, whereas Xbox already set itself on fire to make this transition and sort of got away with it due to the backing of Microsoft’s almost infinite money + actiblizzard money justifying it
